  • Patent number: 7747634
Abstract: When rich data is tunneled, its associated link identified by a primary data reference is changed by swapping primary references of original data with changed data. Thus, without duplicating the rich data, it is now associated with the changed data, preserving it in constant time. The primary references can include, but are not limited to, names and/or other item identifications. This technique allows preservation of rich data to occur without burdening processing and/or time constraints based on the size and/or number of rich data elements. The technique also allows disparate applications and/or systems to maintain data integrity even when rich data is not expected for a given application and/or system. Since the rich data follows a primary reference, awareness of the rich data is not required for it to be properly handled, ensuring its integrity.

  • Publication number: 20100161588
Abstract: A method of detecting web pages belonging to at least one similarity class from a plurality of web pages includes determining clusters of the plurality of web pages based on characteristics of the content of the web pages. For each of the determined clusters, at least one metric is determined indicative of similarity among resource locators associated with the web pages of that cluster. A determination of web pages belonging to the at least one similarity class is based on the determined clusters and the determined similarity metrics.

  • Publication number: 20100159305
Abstract: Novel proton exchange membrane fuel cells and direct methanol fuel cells with nanostructured components are configured with higher precious metal utilization rate at the electrodes, higher power density, and lower cost. To form a catalyst, platinum or platinum-ruthenium nanoparticles are deposited onto carbon-based materials, for example, single-walled, dual-walled, multi-walled and cup-stacked carbon nanotubes. The deposition process includes an ethylene glycol reduction method. Aligned arrays of these carbon nanomaterials are prepared by filtering the nanomaterials with ethanol. A membrane electrode assembly is formed by sandwiching the catalyst between a proton exchange membrane and a diffusion layer that form a first electrode. The second electrode may be formed using a conventional catalyst. The several layers of the MEA are hot pressed to form an integrated unit.

  • Patent number: 7742455
Abstract: A scheduler at a base station may schedule packet data traffic based on a ranking metric that varies directly with the mobile station's scheduling downlink transmission rate and a delay factor indicative of the staleness of the corresponding queued data. The ranking metric may advantageously vary in a direct non-linear fashion with the delay factor to allow for delay sensitive data, such as VoIP data, to be scheduled with increased urgency when quality of service is about to be compromised. The scheduler may attempt to pack a multi-user downlink physical layer packet by selecting a tentative rate and determining if an aggregate amount of data in the packet may be increased by transmitting the packet at a lower rate. If so, additional queued data is added to the packet and the transmission rate for the packet is lowered. Such an approach allows for greater link efficiency to be achieved.

  • Patent number: 7740148
Abstract: The invention includes a novel profile for a container bottom. The bottom structure includes a domed central panel attached at its outside edge to a downwardly projecting substantially cylindrical inner leg portion. The inner leg portion is attached to a generally semi-circular nose portion. The outside of the nose portion is attached to an upwardly and outwardly inclined outer leg portion. The outer leg portion is attached to an outwardly inclined peripheral portion. The peripheral portion is attached to the lower end of the generally cylindrical sidewall portion. The improvement primarily involves the larger stand diameter, and altered dome circle radius and dome depth, which produces a container bottom profile yielding more consistent results in drop tests to determine resistance to bulging and reversals (single can and consumer package flat and angled drop tests) than prior art can bottoms.

  • Publication number: 20100151496
Abstract: Methods and genetic constructs are provided for detecting the binding of nuclear hormone receptors to a coactivator/corepressor. The methods employ enzyme fragment complementation using fragments of ?-galactosidase as the detection system. Cells are transformed to express the large fragment of ?-galactosidase fused to a member of the complex with NHR for initiation of transcription and have it localized in the nucleus and to express the small fragment of ?-galactosidase fused to the nuclear hormone receptor for binding to the member upon stimulation with a ligand.

  • Publication number: 20100153409
Abstract: Computer-implemented systems and methods provide paginated search results from a multi-table database that stores hierarchically arranged data nodes. A query request is received that identifies one or more constraints and one or more monitoring attributes. Records of the multi-table database are filtered to create a view containing only records which meet the constraints. Monitoring attributes associated with a first n records of the view are accessed to generate an output view, where n is the number of records that may be displayed on a single page, and the output view is displayed on a user-viewable medium.

  • Patent number: 7739114
Abstract: Speakers are automatically identified in an audio (or video) source. The audio information is processed to identify potential segment boundaries. Homogeneous segments are clustered substantially concurrently with the segmentation routine, and a cluster identifier is assigned to each identified segment. A segmentation subroutine identifies potential segment boundaries using the BIC model selection criterion. A clustering subroutine uses a BIC model selection criterion to assign a cluster identifier to each of the identified segments. If the difference of BIC values for each model is positive, the two clusters are merged.

  • Publication number: 20100141767
Abstract: A method for capturing surveillance images includes of a secured area has a first camera with a first field of view and a second camera with a second field of view. An optical center is determined for the second field of view. A magnification ratio is determined between a target located in the first field of view relative to the second field of view. A pan and tilt model is determined that provides a relationship between a first camera coordinates and pan and tilt values to position the second camera at the optical center. A target is captured in the first field of view and the second camera is controlled to record the target in the second field of view with the second field of view being an enhanced view relative to the first field of view.

  • Publication number: 20100140060
Abstract: An ignition key switch apparatus having a compact size, high current capability, and a snap action mechanism. A pre-loaded snap spring can be configured to include a fixed end attached to an anchor and a free end attached to a movable contact operable between normal and actuated positions. A cam can be utilized to convert a rotary motion at a key interface into a linear movement of a plunger for snap spring blade actuation. The unique pre-loaded snap spring generates a fast (e.g., instantaneous) movement from an open to a closed position and vice versa upon application/removal of a load to reduce the effect of arcing on associated contacts and conductors. The pre-loaded snap spring also ensures that the movable contact does not remain in any intermittent position, other than the two extreme positions given at any position of the plunger.

  • Publication number: 20100146162
Abstract: An apparatus and method for maximizing buffer utilization in an I/O controller using credit management logic contained within the I/O controller. The credit management logic keeps track of the number of memory credits available in the I/O controller and communicates to a chipset connected to the I/O controller the amount of available memory credits. The chipset may then send an amount of data to the I/O controller equivalent to or less than the communicated available amount of memory credits to reduce the occurrence of a “retry” event. The amount of available memory credits is determined by comparing the available memory in each buffer within the I/O controller and designating that the “available” amount of memory for the I/O controller is an amount equivalent to the amount of memory contained in the buffer with the least amount of available memory. This “available” amount of I/O controller memory may then be converted into memory credits and communicated to the chipset.
