  • Publication number: 20100085487
Abstract: In some embodiments, color and contrast enhancement video processing may be done in one shot instead of adjusting one of color and contrast enhancement, then the other, and then going back to the first one to readjust because of the second adjustment. In some embodiments, global lightness adjustment, local contrast enhancement, and saturation enhancement may be done at the same time and in parallel. Lightness adjustment improves visibility of details for generally dark or generally light images without changing intended lighting conditions in the original shot, and is used to enhance the range of color/saturation enhancement. Local contrast enhancement done in parallel improves visual definition of objects and textures and thus local contrast and perceived sharpness.

  • Publication number: 20100082546
Abstract: A technique is described for storing data from a database across a plurality of data storage devices, wherein each data storage device is capable of being accessed only by a corresponding computer system in a group of interconnected computer systems. In accordance with the technique, an identifier of the database is received. An identifier of a storage tier instance is also received, wherein the storage tier instance comprises a logical representation of one or more storage locations within each of the data storage devices. Responsive to the receipt of the identifier of the database and the identifier of the storage tier instance, data from the database is stored in two or more of the storage locations logically represented by the storage tier instance, wherein each of the two or more storage locations in which data is stored is within a corresponding one of the data storage devices.

  • Publication number: 20100082551
Abstract: A method of updating a clone data map associated with a plurality of nodes of a computer system is disclosed. The clone data map includes node identification data and clone location data. A node failure event of a failed node of the computer system that supports a primary clone is detected. The clone data map is updated such that a secondary clone stored at a node other than the failed node is marked as a new primary clone. In addition, clone data maps may be used to perform node load balancing by placing a substantially similar number of primary clones on each node of a node cluster or may be used to increase or decrease a number of nodes of the node cluster. Further, data fragments that have a heavy usage or a large fragment size may be reduced in size by performing one or more data fragment split operations.

  • Patent number: 7689795
Abstract: An integrated circuit (IC) module allows volatile data generated by applications to be stored within volatile data files in the volatile memory. A file system tracks the location of all data files as residing in either volatile memory or nonvolatile memory and facilitates access to the volatile data files in volatile memory in a similar manner to accessing nonvolatile data files in nonvolatile memory. The file system exposes a set of application program interfaces (APIs) to allow applications to access the data files. The same APIs are used to access both volatile data files and nonvolatile data files. When an application requests access to a data file, the file system initially determines whether the application is authorized to gain access to the data file. If it is, the file system next determines whether the data file resides in volatile memory or nonvolatile memory. Once the memory region is identified, the file system identifies the physical location of the data file.
