  • Patent number: 11785530
Abstract: A wireless telecommunication system is described that denies wireless telecommunication service to a wireless terminal in a proscribed area (e.g., prison, military installation, academic testing center, school, etc.). The system comprises an adjunct called a “service sentry.” The service sentry uses measurements of the location-dependent traits of the radio signals transmitted to, and received from, each wireless terminal in its purview to generate an estimate of the location of the wireless terminal. When the service sentry estimates that the wireless terminal has entered the proscribed area, it requests that the wireless switching center that services the proscribed area deny service to the wireless terminal. When the service sentry estimates that the wireless terminal has exited the proscribed area, it requests that the wireless switching center that services the proscribed area restore service to the wireless terminal.

  • Patent number: 11782795
Abstract: A method and system for source versus target metadata-based data integrity checking. Concerning backup operations directed to protecting given data, said given data may be subjected to corruption detection at the source prior to initiating a backup operation, however, said given data may not be checked for data integrity following transfer of said given data to a target storage medium prior to committing the said given data thereto. That is, at least presently, the prospect of data corruption compromising given data during the time window through which the given data journeys, usually via a network, from its source to a target storage medium, is often overlooked. The disclosed method and system, accordingly, propose a scheme directed to detecting corruption amongst data transferred from a source to a target storage medium, and handling said data given the determined integrity of said data.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for quasi-sensorless adaptive control of a high rotor pole switched-reluctance motor (HRSRM). The method comprises the steps of: applying a voltage pulse to an inactive phase winding and measuring current response in each inactive winding. Motor index pulses are used for speed calculation and to establish a time base. Slope of the current is continuously monitored which allows the shaft speed to be updated multiple times and to track any change in speed and fix the dwell angle based on the shaft speed. The apparatus for quasi-sensorless control of a high rotor pole switched-reluctance motor (HRSRM) comprises a switched-reluctance motor having a stator and a rotor, a three-phase inverter controlled by a processor connected to the switched-reluctance motor, a load and a converter.

  • Patent number: 11782619
Abstract: System and method for converting disk format types of virtual disks in storage executes, in response to a request to convert a disk format type of a target virtual disk from a source disk format type to a destination disk format type, a conversion procedure on each data block of the target virtual disk that satisfies a predefined condition. The conversion procedure executed is based on the source and destination disk format types. The conversion procedure includes taking possession of a granular offset lock for a data block of the target virtual disk, performing a conversion operation on the data block of the target virtual disk only when the data block of the target virtual disk satisfies a required condition, and releasing the granular offset lock for the data block of the target virtual disk after the conversion operation on the data block has been performed.

  • Publication number: 20230315954
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide methods, devices, and computer-readable storage media that support detection, effect monitoring, and recovery from failure modes in cloud computing application using a failure mode effect analysis (FMEA) engine. Historical metadata related to operation of a hierarchy of devices may be used as training data to train the FMEA engine to identify failure modes experienced by the hierarchy of devices. After training the FMEA engine, metadata from the hierarchy of devices may be input to the FMEA engine to identify a failure mode that may have occurred, and the FMEA engine may select a recovery process to recommend for addressing or mitigating the identified failure mode. In some implementations, the FMEA engine may output an indication of the recommended recovery process and/or initiate performance of one or more operations at the hierarchy of devices to recover from the failure event.

  • Patent number: 11777527
Abstract: With rapid increase in wired/wireless communication traffic and data storage requirements, the performance of error correction codes and data security solutions is become crucial. Random-like codes can be used in symmetric data encryption, cryptographic hash functions, random number/sequence generators, error correction and detection codes, and other data security applications. The present disclosure provides systems and methods that implement a dynamic permutation based coding approach of input based permutation/remapping/repositioning sequence generation. As the encoding process is defined using input bits, the output of the proposed codes depends on the statistic of input bits rather than any fixed predefined encoding structure. This dynamic encoding method can facilitate to implement strong confusion-diffusion logic and randomness in symmetric cryptography, hash functions, error correction codes, and other data security and authentication areas.
