  • Patent number: 5179704
Abstract: An interrupt signal for a disk array is generated by selectively combining interrupt signals received from the individual disk drives and other interrupt signal sources within the disk array. The circuit for generating the array interrupt signal includes logic for combining a first group of selected interrupt signals to generate a group interrupt signal having a HIGH state when each one of the signals in the first group is at a HIGH state, and logic which combines a second group of selected interrupt signals to generate an independent interrupt signal having a HIGH state when any one of the interrupt signals of the second group is at a HIGH state. The group and independent interrupt signals are gated together through use of an OR gate to generate the disk array interrupt signal. The logic for generating the group and independent interrupt signals can be reconfigured to combine, pass or ignore interrupt signals as selected by the system user.

  • Patent number: 5136652
Abstract: An encoder and a decoder is provided with each being usable independently of each other for improving the dynamic range of clipped speech digital systems by providing amplitude components to the clipped digital signal. The encoder processes an audio input signal along two signal paths, the first signal path including a clipper and digitizer means for forming a digitized clipped signal. The second signal path includes a rectifier, envelope detector and digitizing means for forming a digitized signal having amplitude components. Both digitized signals may then be transmitted to the decoder for reconstruction or stored for reconstruction at a later time.

  • Patent number: 4802221
Abstract: The system and method of the invention operates upon a serial bit stream of speech encoded data by reading the data in fixed length frames. Each frame is classified as to whether the frame represents voiced, unvoiced, or a silence condition. For a voiced frame, the pitches are detected. The bits of the voiced frame are then compared with the bits of prior received voiced frames, on a pitch basis, so as to detect repetition. When repetition is detected, the repetition count, the pitch period, and the one set of the repetitive pitch bits are stored ready for transmission. The compressed data is reconstructed by utilizing a decoder which interprets the stored information and causes reinsertion of the repetitions.
