  • Patent number: 6674221
Abstract: A quartz oscillator is constructed to achieve a better yield when being mass-produced, by providing a margin of strength for each of the substrates thereof while reducing the thickness of the quartz oscillator devices. A box-shaped circuit substrate is provided for mounting thereon circuit components having different heights from one another. The bottom plate of a recess in this circuit substrate has a level difference, and is constituted of a region where the thickness of the bottom plate is relatively larger and a region where the thickness of the bottom plate is relatively smaller. High-profile circuit components are mounted on the region where the thickness of the bottom plate is smaller, while low-profile components are mounted on the region where the thickness of the bottom plate is larger. By thus increasing the thickness of one portion of the bottom plate of the circuit substrate, the bending strength of the circuit substrate is improved.

  • Patent number: 6380662
Abstract: A compact quartz oscillator includes a quartz vibrator that is integrally mounted on a circuit substrate. In the quartz oscillator, flux residue can be easily washed away. A cavity is defined in the approximate center of the circuit substrate. Within the cavity, circuit components defining an oscillation circuit, a temperature-compensating circuit, and other such circuits are surface-mounted preferably via reflow soldering. Connection electrodes are disposed at the four corners of walls surrounding the cavity. The connection electrodes are bonded to electrodes of the quartz vibrator mounted on the circuit substrate preferably via reflow soldering. Recesses are provided in the top surfaces of the walls. With the recesses, clearances are created between the circuit substrate and the quartz vibrator. As a result, in order to wash away flux residue.

  • Patent number: 6343586
Abstract: A control apparatus of an internal combustion engine is able to effectively suppress vibration occurring upon acceleration of a motor vehicle due to an increase in the torque generated by the engine. The apparatus controls the ignition timing in accordance with variations in the acceleration of the motor vehicle, so as to variably control the torque generated by the engine. Upon the start of variable torque control, a controller controls the opening amount of the throttle valve to be larger than the opening amount originally determined depending upon the current operating conditions of the engine. As a result, the generated torque is allowed to be larger than the normally generated torque during variable torque control, and vibration upon acceleration can be effectively suppressed.

  • Patent number: 6332450
Abstract: In a throttle control apparatus of an internal combustion engine, when the driver operates an accelerator so as to cause a motor vehicle to proceed to a steady-state running mode, a target throttle opening amount is no longer controlled to a throttle opening amount that depends upon an operated amount of the accelerator. Instead, the throttle opening amount is controlled to a value that provides a steady-state required torque. In this manner, the vehicle is immediately brought into a desired steady-state running mode, without requiring the driver to repeatedly operate the accelerator since the accelerator operation is not directly reflected by the throttle opening amount. Thus, the driver need not frequently repeat accelerator operations when the vehicle enters a steady-state running mode, thus assuring improved driveability.

  • Patent number: 6318349
Abstract: An air-fuel ratio control apparatus of an internal combustion engine is provided which enables highly accurate calibration of an air-fuel feedback correction value to be completed in a short time, thus avoiding adverse influences on the emissions. The engine load is fixed when the air-fuel ratio or purge concentration is calibrated from the behavior of the air-fuel ratio feedback correction value. Thus, no change is observed in the engine load even if the driver operates the accelerator pedal to adjust the accelerator pedal position so as to change the required torque, and the air-fuel ratio of the air-fuel mixture is stabilized. Accordingly, air-fuel ratio calibration or purge concentration calibration can be promptly accomplished with high accuracy. Furthermore, while the engine load is being adjusted, the output torque is controlled in accordance with the required torque by adjusting the ignition timing.

  • Patent number: 6309743
Abstract: A porous preform for manufacturing partially composite lightweight metal products including at least a sliding surface as composite part is made of a hard material which comprises a sintered mixture comprising TiO2 particles, short ceramic fibers and whiskers, and SiC particles having an average particle size of approximately 20 to 100 &mgr;m. The partially composite lightweight metal product produced from the porous preform is provided with superior wear resistance and high strength and achieves increasing the coefficient of friction even though it is large in size, so as to keep a composite part of the composite lightweight metal product such as a sliding surface of a brake rotor remain even and smooth for a long period of time.

  • Patent number: 6306231
Abstract: A light metal alloy material has excellent plastic workability. The method of producing the light metal alloy material comprises a light metal as a matrix, which is injection-molded at a solid phase proportion of not more than 20%. The injection molded material has a limiting upsetting rate of not more than 70% and excellent moldability. This injection molded material can be molded into a final molded article by means of single-step forging.

  • Patent number: 6298839
Abstract: An air-fuel ratio control apparatus performs an intake air-increasing process based on a region of an air-fuel ratio feedback adjustment coefficient FAF in which the adjustment coefficient decreases the fuel concentration in an air-fuel mixture. The apparatus calculates a fuel injection valve open duration TAU by using a newly calculated air-fuel ratio feedback adjustment coefficient FAFx, instead of using an adjustment coefficient FAF. An air-fuel ratio-increasing feedback adjustment coefficient FVLV in the adjustment coefficient FAFx has a value that cancels an increase in the amount of intake air. Therefore, the fuel injection amount is increased only when the fuel concentration in the mixture is an intake air-increasing process. Hence, torque difference between fuel concentration-increasing and concentration-decreasing control becomes smaller.
