    Abstract: A direct liquid type writing instrument is used without running-over of ink even in an environment in which an internal pressure is higher than an external pressure. The writing instrument includes an ink reservoir containing ink, a junction core extending on a center axis, and a pen body provided integrally on a tip end side of the junction core. The ink reservoir includes a main ink reservoir, a pen core chamber in which the junction core is disposed, and a sub ink reservoir which is provided between the main ink reservoir and the pen core chamber and communicates with the main ink reservoir via a small hole. Between the sub ink reservoir and the pen core chamber, an opening/closing valve is provided to normally isolate the pen core chamber from the sub ink reservoir and to be operated so that the pen core chamber communicates with the sub ink reservoir when the pen body is operated.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a substrate holding apparatus for holding a substrate to be polished and pressing the substrate against a polishing surface. The substrate holding apparatus further comprises a contact member mounted on a lower surface of the support member and disposed in a space formed by the elastic pad and the support member.     Abstract: A ballpoint tip for a ballpoint liquid container, such as a ballpoint refill, includes a tubular body member, a ball held for rotation in a tip part of the tubular body member, and a coil spring extended in the tubular body member to press the ball against the inner surface of the tip part of the tubular body member. The coil spring is formed by coiling a spring wire, a forward end part of the spring wire is extended linearly to form a straight forward end part, and a back end part of the spring wire is coiled in end coils of an outside diameter greater than that of the effective coils of the coil spring to form a large base end. The coil spring is extended with the base end thereof held in the caulked back end part of the tubular body member and the straight forward end part extended through a liquid passage and in contact with the ball. The coil spring can be strained by applying a pressure thereto through the ball.

The IC device contactor includes: a socket board having a predetermined number of contact points formed on a surface thereof; an anisotropic conductive sheet having a multitude of fine conductive wires embedded in the insulating sheet in an angularly oriented state; a tip holder perforated with a predetermined number of apertures; and a predetermined number of contact tips fitted in the apertures of the tip holder for contact with the spherical electrodes of the IC devices. The anisotropic conductive sheet is disposed with its side in engagement with the socket board and the other side in engagement with the contact tips to electrically connect the contact tips with the contact points on the socket board.

A cap for the writing instrument includes a cap body and a seal member provided in the cap body, the seal member being formed of elastic material. When the writing instrument is coupled with the cap, the seal member is tightly fitted on the tip end of the writing instrument body, whereby the writing tip and the ventilating clearances are completely sealed by the seal member.
