  • Patent number: 5639686
Abstract: A new design concept is presented and demonstrated for the fabrication of active and passive components in integrated circuit (IC) devices for microwave signal transmission. High circuit packing density is desirable but the current configurations of the conventional flat strip type conductors present physical limitations to achieving such an objective. The new conductor configuration not only overcomes such circuit packing problems of the conventional line design, but provides additional improvements in performance parameters, such as lower circuit resistance and lower parasitic interactions; an ability to fabricate circuits to design specifications and to improve reliability at low cost. The new concept has been applied to the fabrication of transmission lines, capacitors, inductors, air bridges and to formulating the fabrication steps for a FET.

  • Patent number: 5425937
Abstract: Hair treatment compositions, hair damage protective agents and hair care products, each contain an active ingredient comprising an antibody which binds to human hair keratins which constitute intermediate-diameter filaments. This antibody can be produced efficiently and in a large quantities from the milk of a bovid animal immunized with said keratins. As this antibody binds to the hair specifically, it is effective in preventing the elution of proteins from the hair, imparting smoothness and flexibility to the hair, and improving the adaptability to combing and luster of the hair.

  • Patent number: 4951621
Abstract: Engines having cylinders of noncircular cross section wherein the cylindrical curve is generated at a preselected constant outwardly normal distance from a closed curve. The closed curve is defined as including two spaced points on a major axis of symmetry of the cylinder with two continuously curved portions extending between these points and curved outwardly from the major axis. The closed curve about which the cylinder curve is generated is preferred such that there is a continuous change of curvature without discontinuity in that curvature in the cylindrical curve. The avoidance of discontinuity in the generating curve aids in mass production considerations and cutter life. A plurality of intake and exhaust port arrangements are disclosed illustrating four intake ports and four exhaust ports on opposite sides of the major axis of symmetry of the defined cylinder. In one embodiment, the outermost of the ports are smaller and are positioned closer to the major axis of symmetry.

  • Patent number: 4727717
Abstract: An improved exhaust gas cleaning system for a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine having an exhaust system with exhaust ports opening into a plurality of combustion chambers. A secondary air supplying system is in communication with the exhaust system for supplying secondary air to the exhaust system. A plurality of reed valve devices are interposed in the secondary air supplying system and are operated to open and close in response to pulsations of exhaust gas developed in the exhaust system during engine operation for controlling supply of secondary air to the respective exhaust ports independently of each other.

  • Patent number: 4537165
Abstract: Herein disclosed is a valve actuating mechanism having a stopping function for use in an internal combustion engine of the type, in which at least one pair of intake or exhaust valves having an identical function and disposed adjacent to each other are arranged for one cylinder. First and second rocker arms respectively having arms abutting against the upper ends of the paired intake or exhaust valves are rockingly supported on a common support shaft which is fixed on the engine body while having an axis perpendicular to the operating directions of the valves. The first rocker arm is formed with a cylinder bore which is opened toward the second rocker arm to bear a plunger therein whereas the second rocker arm is formed with a guide bore which is opened toward the first rocker arm to fit the plunger therein.
