  • Publication number: 20020034028
Abstract: Disclosed is a magnetic transfer method magnetically transferring information signals such as servo signals from a master medium to a slave medium, which is capable of preventing the occurrence of missing signals due to insufficient contact of the master medium and the slave medium originating from adhering of dust to the slave medium, thus increasing reliability. When the master medium bearing information signals and the slave medium are brought into close contacted with each other, and when a transfer magnetic field is applied to the master medium and the slave medium to magnetically transfer the information signal from the master medium to the slave medium, a metal thin film formed on a substrate of the master medium is electrically grounded, and charges of the master medium are removed, thus reducing a quantity of adhering dust.

  • Patent number: 5404722
Abstract: A torque generator steering device (10) is disclosed of the type including a gerotor displacement mechanism (19) and valving (9), by the rotation of an input shaft (1) results in a hydrostatic power assist to an output shaft (2). In parallel with the power assist path, the input shaft (1) is connected by a torsion bar (15) to a connecting shaft (3) which, in turn, is connected to the output shaft (2). The connections between the torsion bar (15) and the connecting shaft (3), and between the connecting shaft (3) and the output shaft (2) are substantially zero backlash mechanical connections, thus providing a main torque transmitting path in parallel with the power assist path. Below a predetermined level of input torque, rotation of the input shaft (1) results in an immediate and corresponding rotation of the output shaft (2), thus providing a manual steering mode.

  • Patent number: 4799244
Abstract: A surface acoustic wave charge transfer device of monolithic type has a channel stopper for preventing the charge carriers from deviating from the transfer channel of the device. The charge transfer device has an acoustic wave generator for generating an acoustic wave propagating in a piezo-electric layer, a transfer channel for transferring charge carriers within a depletion layer in the vicinity of the surface of a semiconductor being bunched in a potential wells of a potential wave accompanying the acoustic wave, and a detector for detecting the transferred charge carriers. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the charge carriers are transferred in a perfect bunching condition. In another preferred embodiment, the acoustic wave propagates at such a speed that the time for propagating one wavelength distance is shorter than the statistical time for the charge carriers to drop in the traps on the surface of the semiconductor.

  • Patent number: 4748592
Abstract: In a vacuum, recording is conducted by exposing a solid surface to a neutral particle beam or an ion beam modulated with a recording signal and converged, thereby to locally develop a change in composition on the solid surface. Then, reproducing is conducted by exposing said solid surface to an electron beam, an ion beam or a neutral particle beam which has been converged, thereby to emit electrons from the solid surface, and detecting the emitted electrons to read out the change in composition. If necessary, erasing is conducted by exposing the solid surface to the same beam as used in reproducing, thereby to eliminate the change in composition.
