  • Patent number: 6280434
Abstract: An angiographic catheter has exhibits elasticity as a whole and has at a distal end portion thereof a deformed portion that is curved into a desired shape when no external force is applied thereto. The deformed portion has at a distal end thereof a distal end opening. A plurality of minute side apertures are formed in a portion that is located toward a proximal end of the catheter from the deformed portion. These side apertures are arranged such that a reaction force generated by injection of a contrast medium (liquid) fed through a lumen of the catheter from the distal end opening is counterbalanced to the greatest possible extent by the contrast medium (liquid) injected from the respective side apertures.

  • Patent number: 6259531
Abstract: An apparatus for detecting the displacement information of an object has a light source, a diffraction grating for diffracting a light beam from the light source so that the light beam diffracted by the diffraction grating is incident on the object, and a photodetector for detecting the light from the object caused upon the incidence of the light beam thereon by the diffraction grating. Information regarding the relative displacement to the object along a predetermined direction is detected on the basis of a light detection signal from the photodetector. The diffraction grating is formed so that the light beam applied to the object may be condensed on the object in a direction in which the relative displacement to the object cannot be detected by the signal from the photodetector.

  • Patent number: 6034761
Abstract: An apparatus for measuring displacement information of an object. The apparatus has a light source emitting a light beam, an electro-optical crystal member, a voltage applying system for imparting a predetermined frequency difference between light beams passing through two different areas in the electro-optical crystal member, and a light receiving system for receiving scattered light from the object to which the two light beams emergent from the electro-optical crystal member have been projected. The electro-optical crystal member is disposed so that a light beam from the light source may partly enter the two different areas to form the two light beams to which the predetermined frequency difference is imparted. The displacement information of the object is obtained from the scattered light received by the light receiving system.

  • Patent number: 5926276
Abstract: An optical displacement measuring apparatus including an afocal optical system within a plane containing paths of at least two light beams. The afocal optical system includes a first lens optical unit and a second lens optical unit having a focal length which is greater than the focal length of the first lens optical unit. The distance between a diffraction grating and the first lens optical unit is smaller than the focal length of the first lens optical unit. The second lens optical unit is a combination of a lens with a negative refractive power and a lens with a positive refractive power. Accordingly, the optical displacement measuring apparatus performs accurate measurements with a large measurement depth, even for the cases where an afocal optical system is constructed within a plane containing the paths of the two light beams and the working distance is increased without increasing the size of an optical head.
