  • Publication number: 20120134250
Abstract: An optical disc includes a reflective film formed on concave and convex marks after the concave and convex marks are synchronized with the integral multiple of a channel bit length and formed in accordance with modulated main information. Thereafter, continuous or intermittent laser light synchronized with the integral multiple of the channel bit length is irradiated at intervals longer than the longest one of the concave and convex marks in accordance with a spiral track formed in a circumferential direction of the concave and convex marks, whereby an optical characteristic of the reflective film is changed to form a recordable mark and sub-information necessary to reproduce the main information is recorded in a superimposition manner.

  • Publication number: 20110299371
Abstract: To provide an optical disk device, an optical disk control method and an integrated circuit, which are capable of writing a recordable mark by changing the reflectance ratio of a reflective film formed on concave-convex pits without using an industrial special device or a high-power laser light source. A data reproduction controller (103) sets a first rotation speed in a disk rotation speed switching unit (108) and a first laser power in a laser power switching unit (107) when reproducing the concave-convex pits. When writing the recordable mark, a mark recording controller (104) sets in the disk rotation speed switching unit (108) a second rotation speed that is slower than the first rotation speed and the lowest rotation speed at which the concave-convex pits can be reproduced, and sets a second laser power greater than the first laser power in the laser power switching unit (107) in accordance with the emission timing.

  • Patent number: 7975206
Abstract: An ECC block is constituted by RS(248,216,33). Of a data length of 216 bytes (symbols), only 16 bytes are allocated to BCA data and the remaining 200 bytes are used for fixed data having a predetermined value. Using the fixed data of 200 bytes and the BCA data of 16 bytes, parities of 32 bytes (symbols) are calculated. Only the BCA data of 16 bytes and the parities of the former 16 bytes of the 32-byte parities, that is, a total of 32 bytes only, are recorded in a burst cutting area of an optical disc. In decoding, error correction processing is carried out by using the fixed data of 200 bytes. The unrecorded parities of 16 bytes are processed as having been erased. Thus, the error correction capability in a burst cutting area of an optical disc can be improved.

  • Publication number: 20110007616
Abstract: An optical disc recording apparatus (10) is provided with a tracking servo (13) for tracking a spiral track of concave and convex marks, an analog signal processor (14) for extracting a reproduction signal corresponding to the concave and convex marks, a digital signal processor (15) for extracting a channel clock synchronized with a channel bit length of the concave and convex marks, and a sub-information recording section (30) for recording sub-information by irradiating laser light based on the tracking to the spiral track. The sub-information recording section (30) records all the sub-information by repeating a process of recording a part of the sub-information by discretely irradiating laser light at a specified interval and with a specified frequency in synchronism with a channel clock by one tracking to form recordable marks on a reflective film a plurality of times.

  • Publication number: 20110004891
Abstract: The invention provides an information recording device, an information reproducing device, and an information recording medium capable of securely protecting copyright of main information, and preventing illegal access to the recorded main information. The information recording device (3) is provided with a medium unique information generating section (9) that generates second sub information by data-converting stamper unique information based on disc identification information that differs for each optical disc after transferring main information and first sub information from a stamper (1?) having the main information and the first sub information recorded therein onto an optical disc (1), and a medium unique information recording section (10) that records the second sub information in the optical disc (1) having recorded therein in advance the main information and the first sub information in a form different from the forms of the main information and the first sub information.

  • Patent number: 7861142
Abstract: Four ECC blocks are recorded in a burst cutting area of an optical disc. Each ECC block is constituted by a BCA content code of 1 byte, content data length of 1 byte, and content data of 14 bytes. Of the BCA content data, the leading 6 bits are used for application ID and the remaining 2 bits are used for block number. Disc ID is stored in the content data. Since the four ECC blocks exist, the optical disc can be managed individually by four applications at the maximum. Thus it becomes possible to manage the same optical disc by a plurality of applications.

  • Publication number: 20100284253
Abstract: On an optical disc, main information to be decrypted using sub information is recorded by arranging concave or convex recording marks in a spiral track and a reflective film is formed on the recording marks. First sub information is recorded as being superimposed on the main information by shifting or deforming the recording marks or altering a pattern of the recording marks. Second sub information is recorded as being superimposed on the main information by changing a reflectivity of the reflective film formed on the recording marks. The first sub information and the second sub information are recorded in an area from which the first sub information and the second sub information are to be read simultaneously. The second sub information is recorded in a manner that the second sub information is associated with the first sub information.

  • Publication number: 20100229069
Abstract: A drive device is provided to promote copyright protection by preventing playback of copied contents, even if unique identification information on a recording medium, used to generate title keys for decrypting encrypted contents, is revealed, and the contents are independently encrypted and copied using this identification information. Identification information unique to a recording medium 103 and used to generate title keys is recorded thereon, along with a signature for the identification information issued by a certificate authority terminal device 101. Before decryption and playback of the encrypted contents, a drive in a playback device 104 performs signature verification. When verification fails, the drive does not output the identification information. A program for playback in the playback device 104 therefore cannot generate a decryption key and fails to decrypt and play back the encrypted contents. The signature is not output externally.
