  • Patent number: 5261834
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a connector in which terminals are inserted into and retained to a connector housing, and the alignment of the terminal can be made accurately when assembling the connector, and the assembling operation can be done easily. A base plate portion 4 of the male terminal 1 is bent into a channel-shaped transverse cross-section to provide a pair of side walls 4a and 4a. A retaining hole 4c, which can be engaged with a retaining projection 8 which is formed upright on the housing 2 and has a retaining pawl 8a at its distal end, is formed through a bottom plate 4b, thereby providing retaining means.

  • Patent number: 5201625
Abstract: A connector housing in which a pair of male and female connector housings are united together by tightening a bolt provided through a seal member on one of the male and female housings with a nut provided on the other one of the male and female housings, includes an externally-threaded portion formed on the bolt from its tip end by a predetermined length. A non-threaded portion is formed on the bolt, extending from the externally-threaded portion and having a diameter smaller than the externally threaded portion so that when the male and female connector housings are fittingly connected together completely, threaded engagement of the externally-threaded portion with the nut is released and the nut is disposed around the non-threaded portion. A pressing and retaining device presses and retains the bolt in a direction to contact the externally-threaded portion with the nut when the male and female connector housings are fittingly connected together completely.

  • Patent number: 5183418
Abstract: A connector is made up of a connector housing including terminal accommodating chambers each of which has a first flexible locking piece for locking a metal terminal; and a terminal locking member which is engaged with the connector housing temporarily and finally, and which has second flexible locking pieces provided for locking the metal terminals in the terminal accommodating chambers, respectively. Each of the second flexible locking pieces has a locking protrusion which, when the metal terminal is inserted in a reverse way, is engaged with the protrusion of the metal terminal, or each of the second flexible locking pieces is adapted to push, when the metal terminal is inserted in a reverse way, the metal terminal against the wall of the terminal accommodating chamber, to interrupt the insertion of the metal terminal. Each terminal accommodating chamber may hve a terminal guide to smoothly guide the metal terminal thereinto.

  • Patent number: 5165834
Abstract: A waterproof ring for a connector housing of the threaded connection type, comprising spring members mounted integrally in a seal ring of a soft rubber material having an insertion hole for passing a tightening bolt therethrough; each of the spring members having a generally U-shaped pressure-receiving bent portion directed in a direction of an axis of the bolt, and inner and outer pressing portions provided respectively on opposite sides of said pressure-receiving bent portion. Therefore, the single seal ring can achieve not only the sealing effect but also the bolt-urging operation when tightening the bolt, thus providing advantages such as an improved sealing effect over the prior art, and an easier connection.

  • Patent number: 5145419
Abstract: The connector with a terminal lock consists of: a connector housing having a plurality of terminal accommodating chambers; and a terminal lock mounted to the rear portion of the connector housing. The terminal lock has insertion openings formed therethrough at locations corresponding to the terminal accommodating chambers. The terminal lock also has a plurality of pairs of a flexible terminal guiding piece and a flexible terminal holding piece, the paired pieces projecting forwardly from the opposing surfaces of each insertion opening. Coupling means are provided to the mating portions of the connector housing and the terminal lock so that the terminal lock is mounted to the connector housing first in a half-coupled state and then in a full-coupled state. With the terminal lock half-coupled, the terminal lugs can be smoothly guided by the terminal guiding pieces into the terminal accommodating chambers in the connector housing.

  • Patent number: 5139431
Abstract: A pair of threaded-connection type connectors in which male and female connectors are mutually coupled to each other by engagement of a bolt provided in the male connector and a nut provided in the female connector, comprises a cylindrical sleeve extending from the male connector in a direction opposite to a connecting portion with the female connector, and a grommet for watersealingly covering the male connector except for the connecting portion thereof. The grommet includes an opening tightly fitted an outer cylindrical surface of the sleeve so that the bolt can be rotated without removing the grommet from the male connector and the grommet can define the waterproofed space therein together with the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 5057042
Abstract: In an electrical connector, a metal terminal is provided with a stabilizer piece which hangs from a bottom of the terminal to facilitate straight-line insertion of the terminal into a terminal retainer in a connector housing. The terminal retainer has a smooth surface from which a passage guide projection extends, forming a guide for movement of the stabilizer piece. The height of the projection is greater than the depth of the stabilizer piece, so that the metal terminal slides smoothly into the terminal retainer, while the stabilizer piece still is able to prevent rotation of the terminal during insertion.
