  • Patent number: 6412916
Abstract: An ink jet printer is of a small size and is capable of printing high-quality images, wherein an ink with a colorant dispersed in a solvent is ejected in a direction lower than a horizontal level and is adhered to a surface of a recording medium. The recording medium is conveyed while being spaced a constant distance from ink ejecting electrodes, thereby stabilizing an electric field induced between the ink ejecting electrodes and the recording medium and stabilizing the amount of the ink ejected.

  • Patent number: 6328418
Abstract: A print head for ink jet printer having a reduced length in a main scanning direction and an elongated length in an auxiliary scanning direction perpendicular to the main scanning direction. A plurality of linear print head modules are arrayed in the auxiliary scanning direction, and each linear print head module extends in a slanting direction with respect to the main scanning direction by a predetermined angle. Further, each linear print head module has a width in a direction perpendicular to its extending direction. The slanting angle and the width determine scanning pitch extending in the auxiliary scanning direction and can reduces the length of the print head in the main scanning direction.

  • Patent number: 6286938
Abstract: An ink jet recording apparatus has a head substrate, a jetting member disposed on the substrate, a recording electrode disposed so as to sandwich the jetting member and for making ink jet from the jetting member, and a separating wall for covering the recording electrode, wherein the ink is supplied from the proximal end of the jetting member and recovered in an upward direction from near the tip end of the jetting member. According to such an arrangement, it becomes possible to prevent the recording electrode from being clogged with ink adhering at the tip end thereof, and thus, the locus of the ink drop jetted from the head can be prevented from being deviated due to deviation of the jetting point on the jetting member. Accordingly, it becomes possible to provide an ink jet recording apparatus which is capable of printing an image with a high definition.

  • Patent number: 6067102
Abstract: In an electrophotographic printing apparatus for printing using a three level printing method, there are provided a first color data memory and a second color data memory which memorize the pixel data of every color sent from host equipment, such as a computer connected to an electrophotographic printing apparatus, and by the use of image recognition equipment for judging whether pixel information is part of what image, exposure information with exposure equipment is determined so that the electric current flowing into electric current source and electric current source is changed. With such an arrangement, the exposure data for every color to be printed is created on the basis of the recognized result the part of a particular image that the pixel data shows, and the color image of the line-width in accordance with data sent from the host equipment to the electrophotographic printing apparatus can be actually printed by controlling the exposure beam diameter.

  • Patent number: 5995124
Abstract: A color electrophotographic printer having a printing process which records a toner image of one color or two colors in a pixel by one exposure. The color electrophotographic printer includes a memory which stores exposure data corresponding to respective pixels of input data of an image, a photosensitive body and at least one charger which charges the photosensitive body. At least one exposing machine exposes respective pixels on the photosensitive body based on the exposure data and a developing machine develops toner of one color or two colors in the exposed respective pixels and forms a toner image. A transfer machine transfers the toner image onto a printing medium and a fixing machine having a belt which fixes the transferred toner image on the printing medium. The belt is controlled so that a relative speed difference occurs between the printing medium and the belt at a position along the belt at least when the developed toner of two colors in one pixel of an image of the printing medium is fixed.

  • Patent number: 5666598
Abstract: A high-speed image forming method and apparatus is capable of directly controlling a toner by the force of an energy beam. Selected toner particles in a mass of toner adhering to the surface of a transparent drum are irradiated with a laser beam emitted by a laser disposed within the transparent drum and controlled for scanning according to image information. The laser beam separates the selected toner particles from the transparent drum by the force it produces on the particles, and then the separated toner particles are moved to a paper sheet by the force of an electric field produced by a developing electrode. Each toner particle need only be irradiated with the light for a comparatively short period of time, so that an image can be formed at high speed.
