Patent number: 6395119Abstract: A transfer sheet is used for transferring an image formed by electrostatic copying to a backing of textile fabric or other porous material. The transfer sheet is composed of a plain paper substrate having no release treatment or coating applied thereto, and a transfer coating of thermoplastic polymeric film material bonded to the substrate. Transfer of the image is accomplished using only the single transfer sheet. The plain paper substrate securely retains the polymeric film coating during electrostatic imprinting and avoids contamination of the copier/printer. The image can be transferred to a textile backing by applying heat of about 160° C. and 200° C. and pressure of about 50 psi for a duration of about 5 to 10 seconds, and results in a high-quality image transfer that leaves the fabric weave open to breathe. The plain paper substrate is removed after image transfer by peeling it away from the backing while still hot.Type: GrantFiled: August 4, 1994Date of Patent: May 28, 2002Inventors: Jürgen Hagedorn, Manfred Hartmann

Patent number: 5342979Abstract: In a process for the production of tertiary carboxylic acids, especially by "Koch synthesis", the byproducts, e.g., a dimer of tripropene, are removed from the reaction mixture by azeotropic rectification with alkanediols, e.g., 1,3-butanediol, as entrainers, thus obtaining the tertiary carboxylic acids in pure form.Type: GrantFiled: March 17, 1993Date of Patent: August 30, 1994Assignee: Huels AktiengesellschaftInventors: Wolfgang H. Patent number: 5194132Abstract: In the electrolysis apparatus for the production of chlorine, sodium hydroxide solution and hydrogen from aqueous alkali-metal halide solutions, which electrolysis apparatus comprises at least one electrolysis cell, anode and cathode, which are separated from one another by a partition, are disposed in a housing composed of two half-shells electrically separated by an insulating seal. The housing is provided with devices for supplying the electrolysis starting substances and for removing the electrolysis products, the latter comprising at least one discharge pipe which extends in the vertical direction in the interior of the half-shells, passes through the half-shell in the vicinity of the lower edge and extends up to the upper edge. The discharge pipe (9, 10) terminates in a separating chamber (14, 15) which is disposed in a stilling zone. The stilling zone is formed by a plate (11, 12) attached to the electrode (4, 5) and to the associated half-shell (1, 2).Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 1992Date of Patent: March 16, 1993Assignee: Hoechst AktiengesellschaftInventors: Manfred Hartmann, Dieter Bergner, Kurt Hannesen

Patent number: 5115622Abstract: Metal reinforcing members (3) are attached by bonding to a surface in the tension zone (1a) of a concrete structure component (1) for reinforcing the component. To prevent the ends of the reinforcing members (3) from separating from the structural component (1) when the component is subjected to load, attachment elements (4) clamp the ends of the reinforcing members against the surface of the component in addition to the bonding action. The attachment elements (4) apply such high compressive forces to the structural component, so that potentially damaging tension and shear forces can not be effective.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 1990Date of Patent: May 26, 1992Assignee: Hilti AktiengesellschaftInventors: Walter Ammann, Fritz Muenger, Manfred Hartmann

Patent number: 4983083Abstract: An anchor rod has an axially extending anchoring region including an axially extending expansion section widening in the direction the rod is inserted into a borehole in a structural component. The anchor rod is held in the borehole by a hardenable mortar compound. The mortar compound is prevented from adhering to the anchoring region. Since the mortar compound does not bond to the anchor rod, if there is relative movement between the anchor rod and the hardened mortar compound, the expansion section develops compressive force deviating from the rod axis and acting on the mortar compound, while the compound maintains composite action with the structural component, particularly in a fractured tension zone of the structural component.Type: GrantFiled: July 10, 1989Date of Patent: January 8, 1991Assignee: Hilti AktiengesellschaftInventors: Peter Froehlich, Ludwig Gebauer, Manfred Hartmann, Helmut Mirsberger, Monika Moench

Patent number: 4830607Abstract: A compact to be sintered is moved vertically through a zone in which it is heated locally above its sintering temperature. The body is supported at both its top and bottom ends so that the area being sintered at a given time is not exposed to stress due to the weight of the body. Apparatus includes an oven casing having inductive heating means about a sintering zone therein, a lower lifting system on which the compact is supported, and an upper pulling system for lifting the top of the compact.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 1987Date of Patent: May 16, 1989Assignee: Leybold AktiengesellschaftInventors: Josef Fischhof, Manfred Hartmann

Patent number: 4750541Abstract: Lifting mechanism for casting molds in precision founding furnaces with a melting facility disposed in a melting chamber and a transfer chamber disposed below the melting chamber. The lifting mechanism has a mold table centrally disposed below the casting mold with a lifting rod and a vertical guiding mechanism. The driving mechanism for the lifting rod comprises a rapid driving mechanism and a precision driving mechanism which is connected in series with the rapid driving mechanism. At the vertical guiding mechanism, a carriage is guided, which can be moved by the rapid driving mechanism into at least two specifiable positions. The precision driving mechanism is mounted on the carriage and can be raised and lowered together with said carriage and is connected to the lifting rod of the mold table.Type: GrantFiled: July 3, 1986Date of Patent: June 14, 1988Assignee: Leybold-Heraeus GmbHInventors: Wolfgang Reuter, Manfred Hartmann

Patent number: 4645570Abstract: For the distillation of a stream consisting essentially of alcohols of 6-20 carbon atoms, water and methanol, the methanol is first separated from the homogeneous, aqueous solution as the overhead product by distillation under a head pressure of 500-1,000 mbar. The bottoms discharge is mechanically separated under normal pressure and at a temperature of 5.degree.-95.degree. C. in a phase separator to obtain a discrete water phase preferably containing at least two thirds of the feedstream water. The remaining organic phase is then transferred from the phase separator into a second distillation column and the organic phase is dewatered in the latter at 100-500 mbar. The head product from the second column is conducted to a second phase separator; the aqueous phase is separated therein at a temperature of 5.degree.-95.degree. C. and optionally returned into the first phase separator. The bottom product from the second distillation column is passed into a downstream distillation stage wherein the C.sub.6 to C.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 1984Date of Patent: February 24, 1987Assignee: Huels AktiengesellschaftInventors: Srinivasan Sridhar, Manfred Hartmann

Patent number: 4590983Abstract: A precision vacuum melting and casting furnace with a melting chamber containing a melting device. A casting chamber is positioned below the melting chamber. The casting chamber can be raised, lowered, and swung out to the side. The casting chamber communicates with the melting chamber through a valve chamber, which contains a vacuum valve. The valve chamber accommodates a lift platform for raising the mold up under the melting device. The casting chamber has a lifting mechanism, and the vacuum valve has an activating rod. In order to essentially simplify precise alignment of the different movable parts and to convert an existing conventional casting furnace into a furnace in accordance with the present invention, a hollow vertical shaft is attached to the valve chamber. The rod that activates the vacuum valve extends vacuum-tight through the shaft. A sleeve that guides the casting chamber is positioned at the outer surface of the shaft.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 1985Date of Patent: May 27, 1986Assignee: Leybold-Heraeus GmbHInventors: Wolfgang Reuter, Manfred Hartmann
