  • Patent number: 5132006
Abstract: Liquid dehalogenating agents containing (a) 30 to 70% by weight of an alkali metal alcoholate having 6 to 20 carbon atoms; (b) up to 12% by weight of an alcohol having 6 to 20 carbon atoms; (c) 5 to 40% by weight of a polyether; and (d) 10 to 65% by weight of a halogenfree hydrocarbon oil are efficient for the dehalogenation of waste oil while at the same time exhibiting improved resistance to hydrolysis and oxidation. In addition the present dehalogenating agents are homogeneous, stable for storage at room temperature, pumpable, and readily measurable, and they may be used in unheated pipes and pumps without causing deposits or plugging.

  • Patent number: 4778974
Abstract: An electron beam line evaporator for coating heat-sensitive strips or substrates includes a magnetic trap overlying an evaporation crucible to prevent unpermissible heating and static electrification by back-scattered electrons, complemented with means to influence the injection angle of a dynamically deflected electron beam in such a manner that the beam enters the horizontal magnetic field of the trap at the same angle in each deflection phase independent of stray fields. Such means are arranged inside a gap of a pole shoe necessary for the horizontal magnetic field used by the trap and are operative to generate a vertical magnetic field variable in time and locally alongside the pole shoe.

  • Patent number: 4722114
Abstract: A caster device with blocking of rotation of the caster wheel and of swiveling movement of a caster-wheel fork by displacement of a spindle which is disposed concentric to the swivel axis of the caster-wheel fork, the spindle being displaceable along the axis and passing through a head plate of the fork, there being a mounting plate disposed above the head plate; and wherein the lower end of the spindle, upon initial displacement to a first position blocks a swiveling motion of the caster-wheel fork by tooth engagement therewith and, after a second displacement to a second position, blocks rotation of the caster wheel by means of a breaking action on an impact surface. A device activated by the spindle blocks the swiveling motion of the fork and a device activated by the spindle blocks rotation of the caster wheel. Each of the blocking a device is bringable into engagement separately from each other to a depth of engagement which is individually adjustable.

  • Patent number: 4532888
Abstract: Electron-beam (EB) coating of broad strips with improved film quality, and without undue scattering and deflection of the electron beam at long beam paths is accomplished with a shielding mantle, placed between the EB gun and the evaporation crucible, providing vacuum-tight shielding of the beam path from the coating chamber.

  • Patent number: 4524717
Abstract: The present invention is a coating apparatus for temperature-sensitive broad strips or similar substrates. To obtain a high quality of coating, it is necessary to minimize the path of the electron beam (EB) through the vapor cloud, and to keep away backscattered electrons from the evaporating material. According to the invention, this problem is solved by assembling a sector field with a vertical field direction at the deflection system connected with the EB gun, which is followed by a deflection field with a horizontal field direction. The divergent electron beam is guided in lines to the evaporating material by the geometry of the fields.

  • Patent number: 4414702
Abstract: A swivel castor having a locking device to arrest rotation of its wheel aor swivelling of its fork, the device comprising a mounting sleeve and, extending therethrough and through the fork head, an axially movable locking pin having a vertically adjustable top member acted on by a cam received in the mounting sleeve. The top member of the locking pin is guided in the mounting sleeve so as to be axially movable and non-rotatable and is prevented from co-rotating with the locking pin by way of the mounting sleeve. The top member is vertically movable and adjustable by way of the screw thread by rotation of the locking pin relative to the mounting sleeve as for example, by rotation of the fork head.

  • Patent number: 4302333
Abstract: A backpressure grid plate is provided for a pressure filtration system of the type comprising a housing with an inlet and outlet for conducting fluid to be treated, a filter disposed in the housing between said inlet and outlet, and a backpressure grid means arranged between the filter and the inlet. The backpressure grid means comprises a plate containing minute openings which are equal in size and distributed unevenly over the surface area of the plate in such manner that the surface distribution density of the openings is lowest within an inner impact area of the plate which receives inflowing fluid to be filtered and is highest within a proximity area of the plate located immediately adjacent to and surrounding the impact area. The surface distribution density of the openings within an outer area surrounding the proximity area is lower than that of the proximity area and higher than that of the impact area.

  • Patent number: 4137756
Abstract: A two-piece body high pressure membrane test cell is disclosed with a tangential feed into the interior pressure chamber in which a central distributor element is mounted with the lower frusto-conical end thereof at a critical spacing above a filter membrane. The membrane is supported on an annular land of a filter support disc which has a peripheral edge zone compressed in a sealed fit between the lower and upper pieces of the cell body. The edge zone is machined to a precise thickness to provide a reproducible and accurate spacing between the filter membrane that rests on the support and the lower end of the distributor.

  • Patent number: 4136029
Abstract: A pressure filtration apparatus including an upper portion with an inflow channel and a discharge channel for the concentrate and a lower portion with a filter support and a discharge channel for the filtrate, the upper and lower portions being releaseably connectable with one another while forming a pressure space. The apparatus contains a distributor plate whose underside is disposed parallel to the upper side of the filter and snugly above the latter while forming an intervening space, and in the center of which is an opening for the concentrate discharge channel. The outer edge of the distributor plate forms a small annular opening which extends all around closely against a basically vertically interior of the pressure space. The top side of the distributor plate has a peripherally raised outer edge which while forming a narrow annular clearance extends to close up against a downwardly pointing horizontal interior wall of the upper portion.
