    Abstract: The invention relates, inter alia, to an apparatus for filling containers with a filling material. The apparatus comprises a closed loop control valve for the filling material and a diagnostic device. The diagnostic device is configured to monitor a control value of a control variable of the closed loop control valve during closed loop control and to determine a state of functionality of the closed loop control valve as a function of the monitored control value. Advantageously, the apparatus can allow for a functionality and thus wear of the closed loop control valve to be monitored and detected during operation.
