  • Patent number: 10344431
Abstract: The invention relates to a security sheet or document having enhanced watermark(s). In one exemplary embodiment, the inventive security sheet or document is a single-ply paper that is made up of a paper layer including one or more watermarks, and a micro-optic security device (e.g., a patch or thread) that at least partially covers an upper or face portion of the watermark(s). The overlying patch or thread increases the durability of the watermark(s), thereby allowing for the watermark(s) as well as reduced fiber density areas therein to be made larger, and for the reduced fiber density areas to be made thinner. In a preferred embodiment, the micro-optic security device projects synthetic image(s) that coordinate or link in with the watermark design(s). In a more preferred embodiment, the micro-optic security device offers a machine detectable/readable feature in the form of enhanced IR-brightness, especially when measured in transmission.

  • Patent number: 10306562
Abstract: Embodiments include systems and methods for performing selection of a transport format combination by a device processor of a wireless communication device. The device processor may determine whether radio frequency self-jamming interference is detected at the receiver of the wireless communication device. The device processor may calculate an average transmit power reduction in response to determining that radio frequency self-jamming interference is detected at a receiver of the wireless communication device. The device processor may select a transport format combination based on the calculated average transmit power reduction, and may use the selected transport format combination to transmit data to a communication network.

  • Publication number: 20190077183
Abstract: A watermark sheet made up of a substrate layer with opposing water and fiber surfaces, a pattern of at least two watermark indicia, and a set of apertures extending from the water surface toward the fiber surface of the substrate layer, is provided. The pattern of at least two watermark indicia is distributed over a continuous area of the fiber surface. The inventive watermark sheet provides watermarks of improved quality. Also provided is a watermark sleeve made up of a cylinder mold and the inventive watermark sheet wrapped around and affixed to an outer diametric surface of the cylinder mold. In addition, methods of manufacturing the watermark sheet, the watermark sleeve, a watermarked paper and a high security document are provided, as well as products resulting from these methods of manufacture.

  • Patent number: 10189292
Abstract: A method for applying a security device (e.g., a micro-optic security thread) to a fibrous web during manufacture is provided. By way of the inventive method, the security device is preferably applied onto the fibrous web at or near a couch roll or similar tool of a paper machine when the fibrous web constitutes a sufficiently consolidated, fully formed wet web. Papers made in accordance with the inventive method, when subjected to the Circulation Simulation Test, showed minimal damage at the paper/security device interface. Moreover, the surface-applied security devices showed acceptable levels of intaglio ink adhesion, and the papers had higher cross-direction (CD) tensile strength and much less show-through on opposing sides thereof.

  • Publication number: 20180262564
Abstract: This patent document describes, among other things, methods and systems for determining which if any page resources a server might push to a client (using, e.g., an HTTP 2.0 server push mechanism). The approaches described herein improve web page load times by pushing page resources that a client is likely to need to render the base page, while reducing wasteful server pushes of resources that the client is unlikely to request from the server because, for example, they are already cached at the client.

  • Patent number: 9957665
Abstract: A multilayer belt structure that can be used for creping or structuring a cellulosic web in a tissue making process. The multilayer belt structure allows for the formation of various shaped and sized openings in the top surface of the belt, while still providing a structure having the strength, durability, and flexibility required for tissue making processes.

  • Publication number: 20180104976
Abstract: A sheet material having a security device applied over a paper machine made or ‘soft-edged’ through-hole and a method for preparing such a sheet material is provided. By way of the inventive method, the through-hole(s) is formed in a forming fibrous web before it becomes sufficiently consolidated and then the security device is applied onto the fibrous web and preferably over the through-hole(s) at or near a couch roll or similar tool of a paper machine when the fibrous web constitutes a sufficiently consolidated, fully formed wet web. Applying the security device and then further consolidating the region underlying the device at this stage of paper manufacture when the fibers would not be displaced, greatly reduces (if not eliminates) the possibility of the through-hole(s) becoming occluded or blocked. Moreover, papers made in accordance with the inventive method, when subjected to the Circulation Simulation Test, showed minimal damage at the paper/security device interface.

  • Publication number: 20170346738
Abstract: A technique that addresses the problem of a TCP connection's throughput being very vulnerable to early losses implements a pair of controls around ssthresh. A first control is a loss forgiveness mechanism that applies to the first n-loss events by the TCP connection. Generally, this mechanism prevents new TCP connections from ending slow-start and becoming conservative on window growth too early (which would otherwise occur due to the early losses). The second control is a self-decay mechanism that is applied beyond the first n-losses that are handled by the first control. This mechanism decouples of ssthresh drop from cwnd and is thus useful in arresting otherwise steep ssthresh drops. The self-decay mechanism also enables TCP to enter/continue to be slow-start even after fast-recovery from a loss event.

  • Publication number: 20170257858
Abstract: Methods and systems improve performance of a wireless communication device supporting an active communication in a first network on a modem stack associated with a first subscriber identity module. The wireless communication device may detect that a control signal was received on the modem stack associated with the first SIM, identify a percentage of scheduled uplink feedback corresponding to the control signal received on the modem stack associated with the first SIM that will be transmitted on the first network, and determine whether determining whether the identified percentage is less than a threshold. If the identified percentage is that will be transmitted to the first network is less than the threshold, the wireless communication device may ignore operations instructed by the control signal received on the modem stack associated with the first SIM.

  • Patent number: 9687480
Abstract: Chiral 1-(4-methylphenylmethyl)-5-oxo-{N-[(3-t-butoxycarbonyl-aminomethyl)]-piperidin-1-yl}-pyrrolidine-2-carboxamides as inhibitors of collagen induced platelet activation and adhesion. The present invention provides chiral (2S)-1-(4-methylphenylmethyl)-5-oxo-(3S)-{N-[(3-t-butoxycarbonyl aminomethyl)]-piperidin-1-yl}-pyrrolidine-2-carboxamide, and (2S)-1-(4-methylphenylmethyl)-5-oxo-(3R)-{N-[(3-t-butoxycarbonyl amino methyl)]-piperidin-1-yl}-pyrrolidine-2-carboxamide of formula 6 and 7 respectively. The present invention also relates to use of these moieties as inhibitors of collagen induced platelet adhesion and aggregation mediated through collagen receptors. The present invention provides a process for preparation of chiral carboxamides of formula 6 and 7 using the process which has advantage to avoid any racemization at the a-carboxylic center, during N-alkylation. The reagent LiHMDS is used at low temperatures to furnish methyl N-(p-methylphenylmethyl)1pyroglutamate in good chiral purity.

  • Publication number: 20170070940
Abstract: Various embodiments for managing carrier transmissions after a tune-away on a wireless communication device may include determining whether a network has received transmissions from a first carrier of a first subscription after completion of the tune-away from the first subscription to a second subscription. In response to determining that the network has not received transmissions from the first carrier, the wireless communication device may determine whether a second carrier of the first subscription is transmitting to the network after completion of the tune-away. In response to determining that the second carrier is not transmitting to the network, the wireless communication device may route transmission from the first carrier to the second carrier.
