  • Publication number: 20110072319
Abstract: Techniques for running an Extract Transform Load (ETL) job in parallel on one or more processors wherein the ETL job comprises use of an extensible markup language (XML) document are provided. The techniques include receiving an XML document input, identifying a node in the XML document at which partitioning of the XML document is to begin, sending partition information to each respective processor, performing a shallow parsing of the XML document in parallel on the one or more processors, wherein each processor performs shallow parsing using the identified partition node until it reaches its identified partition, using the shallow parsing to generate the partition of the input XML document, wherein each processor generates a different partition of the same XML document, and sending each partition in streaming format to an ETL job instance.

  • Publication number: 20110072520
Abstract: An electronic device includes a security system which provides for protection of designated files stored on an electronic device. For example, an electronic device may receive user input selecting a file for protection processing. The user input may select the file for encryption and automatic decryption under certain predetermined conditions and/or for automatic saving to a remote storage device after the device has been reported stolen, for instance. After receiving the user input selecting the file for protection processing, the electronic device may automatically receive theft information from a remote server, wherein the theft information indicates whether the electronic device has been reported stolen. After determining whether the electronic device has been reported stolen, the electronic device may automatically process the selected file according to the selected protection processing, wherein the processing is contingent on whether the electronic device has been reported stolen.

  • Publication number: 20110060957
Abstract: A resend operation of application-level messages by communicating control messages over a publish/subscribe channel. A sending module sends application-level original messages to recipients, and stores a copy of the original message in a store. A resend determination module determines, in the event of insufficient acknowledgement of the original message, whether the original message should be resent. If the original message should be resent, the resend determination module also publishes a control message that correlates to the original message. A resend module subscribes in a manner that results in the resend module receiving the control message, and uses the control message to determine that the corresponding original message should be resent, whereupon the original message may be resent using the copy of the original message in the store.

  • Patent number: 7903552
Abstract: A node uses a two dimensional array of transmit queues to store frames to be transmitted from the node to another node. The size of the array is governed by the number of directions to which the other node may forward frames once received from the node, and the number of priorities that may be associated with the frames. The transmit queues are distinguished from each other based on direction and priority. A transmitter transmits frames dequeued from the transmit queues to the other node. Control logic that controls the transmit queues receives an indication from the other node whether the other node is experiencing traffic congestion in any of the directions and the priority of frames at or below which the control logic is to control the dequeuing of frames from transmit queues corresponding to the directions in which the other node is experiencing traffic congestion.

  • Publication number: 20100299490
Abstract: Described in detail herein are systems and methods for single instancing blocks of data in a data storage system. For example, the data storage system may include multiple computing devices (e.g., client computing devices) that store primary data. The data storage system may also include a secondary storage computing device, a single instance database, and one or more storage devices that store copies of the primary data (e.g., secondary copies, tertiary copies, etc.). The secondary storage computing device receives blocks of data from the computing devices and accesses the single instance database to determine whether the blocks of data are unique (meaning that no instances of the blocks of data are stored on the storage devices). If a block of data is unique, the single instance database stores it on a storage device. If not, the secondary storage computing device can avoid storing the block of data on the storage devices.

  • Publication number: 20100290087
Abstract: A fax account is described and creates an association between users and documents that are faxed. A fax account allows a user to secure their faxed documents and organize and streamline fax communication via different transports. In at least some embodiments, security is enhanced through the use of an authentication model that authenticates individual users before giving them access to the fax functionality or, more accurately, their fax account. In at least some embodiments, fax accounts also provide users with an infrastructure through which they can manage their documents. In addition, in at least some embodiments, fax accounts can be used to manage and direct received faxes to the intended recipient, thus reducing the possibility of an unintended recipient gaining access to the fax.

  • Publication number: 20100209294
Abstract: In order to disinfect and to detoxify a fluid, a photoreactor contains at least two light sources. One light source activates the catalytic function of a semiconductor material in the fluid to reduce the concentration of contaminants in the fluid, such as by breaking down organic contaminants into non-toxic compounds. A second light source acts directly on living biological entities to sterilize or kill them and thereby disinfect the fluid, and can also serve to activate a semiconductor photocatalyst that in turn causes further damage to biological contaminants. The semiconductor photocatalyst is desirably attached to an optically transmitting fiber substrate in the fluid. The second light source in one embodiment is external to the fluid and illuminates the photocatalyst through transmitting surfaces in a fluid containment vessel. The light sources can comprise respective sets of plural LEDs.
