  • Patent number: 8322604
Abstract: A system and method for independently verifying a bank note processor's handling of circulating bank notes. Independent detectors are provided along the transport path of a bank note processing device. Also provided is at least one independent memory storage device for logging data from the independent detectors. As the note passes along the transport path, the independent detectors evaluate the note's fitness. The independent detector data is subsequently provided to the central bank or commercial organization for auditing of the bank note processor and for generating bank note statistics. Independent detectors may also be used on the transport path output bins to corroborate the other detectors and to verify the integrity of the sorting logic. Mirrored independent detectors allow for corroborating independent data. The invention is operable on any bank note processing device that performs at least a subset of a fitness determination on each note.

  • Patent number: 8326107
Abstract: A fiber optic apparatus having a fiber optic equipment tray and an extension adapted to receive, organize and manage fiber optic cables routed to the fiber optic equipment tray is disclosed. The fiber optic equipment tray has a front, a rear, a base, and at least one extension rail. The extension movably attaches to the fiber optic equipment tray at the extension rail and, thereby, slidably extends from and retracts toward the rear of the fiber optic equipment tray. The extension comprises a shelf and a cable management tray hingedly attached to the shelf. The shelf moves over the base when the extension extends from and retracts toward the fiber optic equipment tray. The cable management tray is in planer alignment with the fiber optic equipment tray when the extension is retracted, and allowed to pivot downwardly when the extension is extended. At least one furcation plug tray attaches to the cable management tray.

  • Publication number: 20120125151
Abstract: An integrated steelmaking plant design is disclosed for efficiently merging the continuous operation of a reduction reactor producing hot DRI with the batch operation of at least one DRI melting furnace. The direct reduction reactor is adapted for producing hot DRI for its consumption in a DRI melting furnace or for producing cold DRI when the continuous production of DRI will exceed the DRI consumption rate of the melting furnace or when it suffers long-term operational delays. The reduction reactor has a DRI cooling zone within the same reactor vessel which is selectively operable for cooling the DRI in the same reactor vessel when the hot DRI produced in said reactor will not be consumed by the DRI melting furnace and when the capacity of the hot DRI bin feeding the melting furnace is insufficient to accumulate the amount of hot DRI which will not be consumed.

  • Patent number: 8146544
Abstract: A method of forming a cylinder head includes casting the cylinder head to include an integral cast-in exhaust manifold. The integral cast-in exhaust manifold defines an intermediate exhaust gas passage in fluid communication with exhaust ports and an exhaust gas outlet passage in fluid communication with the intermediate exhaust gas passage. The cast cylinder head includes a coolant cavity to receive a cooling fluid. The coolant cavity includes first and second portions extending around an outer circumference of the exhaust gas outlet passage separated from one another by a first cast-in wall. The method further includes machining the first cast-in wall to provide fluid communication between the first and second portions of the coolant cavity. Machining the first cast-in wall forms a first coolant passage created by the first and second portions of the coolant cavity and the machined passage around the outer circumference of the exhaust gas outlet passage.
