  • Publication number: 20100217875
Abstract: A method is disclosed for use by an Interrogating Call/Session Control Function (I-CSCF) of an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS). The method comprises, in response to receipt of a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) message, requesting capabilities information relating to a user from a Home Subscriber Server (HSS) of the IMS. On receipt of the capabilities information from the HSS, a primary and a secondary Serving Call/Session Control Function (S-CSCF) of the IMS are selected to provide services to the user. In one embodiment, the I-CSCF attempts to forward the SIP message to the primary S-CSCF with information relating to the secondary S-CSCF, such that the information can be provided subsequently to the HSS. If the attempt is determined to have failed, the SIP message can be forwarded to the secondary S-CSCF instead. Methods are also disclosed for use by the S-CSCF and the HSS.

  • Patent number: 6873154
Abstract: A method for decreasing entropy of a quantum system, for example nuclear spins. The quantum system comprising at least two subsystems, a first subsystem of elements with a first relaxation time (hereinafter—computation elements) and a second subsystem of elements with a second relaxation time (hereinafter—reset elements), the second relaxation time being shorter than the first relaxation time. The method comprises adiabatically decreasing the entropy of the computation elements in the system (by entropy compression, entropy transfer, or both) and increasing the entropy of at least some reset elements, so that the entropy of the subgroup of reset elements is overall increased; and waiting for the total entropy of the subgroup of reset elements to decrease, wherein the above two steps are carried out at least once.

  • Patent number: 6459946
Abstract: A method and system for determining a total number of operators needed at a semiconductor wafer work center to achieve a wafer manufacturing goal is provided. The work center includes a wafer lot tracking system and a plurality of processing stations for processing a plurality of lots of semiconductor wafers to be manufactured. A highest operator throughput as a maximum rate of wafers that can be processed per operator based on data from the lot tracking system is determined, and a minimum number of operators that are needed to process wafers in the work center to achieve the manufacturing goal based on the wafer manufacturing goal and the highest operator throughput is determined. Furthermore, a determination is made of a number of working operators needed to process wafers in the semiconductor wafer work center to achieve the wafer manufacturing goal by increasing the minimum number of operators based on characteristics of the processing stations.
