  • Publication number: 20240108053
Abstract: A method for recovering concentrated nicotine from tobacco curing includes collecting a first aqueous solution including moisture released from tobacco during curing tobacco and including nicotine. The first aqueous solution is passed through a strong cation resin to sorb the nicotine. A second aqueous solution comprising ammonium hydroxide is passed through the resin to elute the nicotine and form a third aqueous solution comprising nicotine and ammonium hydroxide. The ammonium hydroxide is removed from the third aqueous solution to generate a fourth aqueous solution comprising nicotine. The fourth aqueous solution is incubated under conditions to cause the fourth aqueous solution to separate into a fifth aqueous solution comprising a first concentration of nicotine and a sixth aqueous solution comprising a second concentration of nicotine. The first concentration of nicotine is greater than the second concentration of nicotine.

  • Publication number: 20230081205
Abstract: The present invention lies within the field of construction materials and concerns a process for separating the constituents of hardened concrete, with the aim of extracting the cementitious fraction to be used in the production of thermoactivated recycled cement, involving the essential steps of: (a) crushing the concrete waste; (b) screening the crushed material to separate material smaller than about 1 mm; (c) fragmenting material larger than 1 mm; (d) screening material smaller than 1 mm into various granulometric fractions; (e) high intensity magnetic separation of the material; (f) grinding of the cementitious fraction resulting from the magnetic separation in the previous step to a size that allows its efficient thermoactivation; and (g) obtaining a thermoactivated recycled cement.

  • Publication number: 20230083443
Abstract: An anomaly score is computed for current and past physical access events using machine learning models. A transformation of the security events history into a time series of event counts, or augmenting the events history with the delay/lag information is used as an input to machine learning models. Machine learning models are used to estimate (compute) probability density functions for the currently observed parameters of security events. Cumulative probability density functions are computed from the probability density functions to be used to compute the anomaly score for the security events. The described method utilizes a collection of machine learning models to improve efficiency, accuracy and computation speed, by training the models on only a small subset of the accumulated history of security events to achieve higher performance of anomaly detection by narrow specialization of the models. When the anomaly score is beyond a threshold, injecting an anomaly alert network packet.

  • Patent number: 9816039
Abstract: A heavy petroleum oil feed is upgraded by having its amenability to cracking improved by subjecting the oil to selective partial oxidation with a catalytic oxidation system to partially oxidize aromatic ring systems in the heavy oil. The partially oxidized oil can then be cracked in the conventional manner but at lower severities to lower molecular weight cracking products. The cracking following the partial oxidation step may be thermal in nature as by thermal cracking, delayed, contact or fluid coking or fluid catalytic cracking or hydrogenative as in hydrocracking.

  • Patent number: 9505987
Abstract: Heavy oils containing metalloporphyrins principally of nickel and vanadium are demetallized using an oxidizing agent such as aqueous hydrogen peroxide and catalytic amounts of phosphoric acid, preferably with tungstic acid in combination with a phase transfer agent. Up to 99% of the Ni and V are deposited in the aqueous phase and are removed from the oil. The homogenous, water soluble reactants and catalyst have the advantage of being separated more easily from the Ni and V dissolved in the aqueous phase than the same metals deposited on solid phase heterogeneous catalysts.

  • Publication number: 20160051511
Abstract: Pharmaceutical compositions of the active substances glimepiride with metformin or its salts such as hydrochloride, succinate, fumarate, etc. are useful to control blood glucose in patients with type 2 diabetes. To prove the effectiveness of the combination, clinical studies were conducted that demonstrated the existence of not only an additive effect, but also a synergistic effect of the two drugs compared with monotherapy using only one of the drugs used in combination. In consequence, the combination may be used as an effective and safe therapy to control blood glucose in patients with type 2 diabetes, using different proportions of the active substances in combinations suitable for the needs of different patients.

  • Patent number: RE46496
Abstract: The present invention relates to metformin glycinate salt and pharmaceutical compositions thereof for the treatment of diabetes mellitus. The method includes administration of the metformin glycinate salt by various routes selected from oral, intravenous injectable, intramuscular injectable, nasal, intraperitoneal, or sublingual, in order to achieve a reduction in blood glucose levels. The invention further relates to the synthesis of a new 1,1-dimethylbiguanide glycinate salt, called Metformin Glycinate. The resulting salt exhibits advantages over other metformin salts. These advantages are due, in the first place, to the fact that the glycine counterion exhibits hypoglycemic effects by itself. Moreover, the salt exhibits more rapid absorption, reaching higher plasma concentrations than those produced with metformin hydrochloride.
