  • Publication number: 20120330057
Abstract: A method for recovering high molecular weight naphthenic tetra-acids, particularly ARN acids from a calcium naphthenate deposit. Calcium naphthenate deposits contain large amounts of calcium naphthenate salts of ARN acids. The method dual solvent extraction process in which the naphthenic tetra-acids chemically bound as calcium naphthenate salts are converted into free acid monomers by an aqueous acid. The resulting free acid monomers are then dissolved into an organic solvent phase and the counterions dissolve in the aqueous acid phase. The naphthenic tetra-acids are then recovered from the organic solvent phase.

  • Publication number: 20110171142
Abstract: The present invention relates to metformin glycinate salt and pharmaceutical compositions thereof for the treatment of diabetes mellitus. The method includes administration of the metformin glycinate salt by various routes selected from oral, intravenous injectable, intramuscular injectable, nasal, intraperitoneal, or sublingual, in order to achieve a reduction in blood glucose levels. The invention further relates to the synthesis of a new 1,1-dimethylbiguanide glycinate salt, called Metformin Glycinate. The resulting salt exhibits advantages over other metformin salts. These advantages are due, in the first place, to the fact that the glycine counterion exhibits hypoglycemic effects by itself. Moreover, the salt exhibits more rapid absorption, reaching higher plasma concentrations than those produced with metformin hydrochloride.

  • Publication number: 20070032964
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method that determines the necessary and sufficient tests to relate a variety of apparently non-related tests to desired final test results. The present invention also provides a method to determine those tests which, having been shown capable to be used in a high-throughput environment, are able to predict end-use qualification test results for lubricants, greases or industrial fluids. As a corollary, the present invention provides a method to select lubricant formulations and components based on apparently non-related, but predictive tests. In an applied example, the present invention is directed to a device and method that produces and evaluates formulated lubricants, functional fluids, and greases by determining previously unknown relationships between Intermediate Tests and End-use Tests.

  • Publication number: 20050239887
Abstract: Pharmaceutical compositions of the active substances glimepiride with metformin or its salts such as hydrochloride, succinate, furmarate, etc. are useful to control blood glucose in patients with type 2 diabetes. To prove the effectiveness of the combination, clinical studies were conducted that demonstrated the existence of not only an additive effect, but also a synergistic effect of the two drugs compared with monotherapy using only one of the drugs used in combination. In consequence, the combination may be used as an effective and safe therapy to control blood glucose in patients with type 2 diabetes, using different proportions of the active substances in combinations suitable for the needs of different patients.

  • Patent number: 6528492
Abstract: Improved single-step process for preparing 7,16-deoxy-2-aza-10-O-cladinosyl-12-O-desosaminyl-4,5-dihydroxy-6-ethyl-3,5,9,11,13,15-hexamethylbicycle[11.2.1]hexadeca-1(2)-en-8-ona from erythromycin A, with high yield and under soft conditions suitable for its industrial production. The transformation of erythromycin A into an intermediate compound, called 6,9-iminoether, which is obtained in a single step, is achieved by forming the mesitylenesulfonyloxime “in situ” from erythromycin, which in the presence of a base in aqueous acetone undergoes a Beckmann's transposition creating the iminoether with the help of the hydroxyl in position 6 of the macrolide ring; this intermediary is transformed into the antibiotic 9-deoxo-9a-methyl-9a-aza-9a-homoerythromycin A, which is obtained by precipitation in hexane, thereby obtaining an innovative form, with an anhydrous crystalline structure and physical characteristics different from the forms known to date.

  • Patent number: 6232276
Abstract: A lubricating oil composition is provided comprising a major amount of an oil of lubricating viscosity and a minor amount of at least one trinuclear molybdenum compound. Preferably, the trinuclear molybdenum compound is selected from those compounds having the formula Mo3SkL4Qz and mixtures thereof in which L is a ligand having organo groups with a sufficient number of carbon atoms to render the compound soluble in the oil, k varies from 4 through 7, Q is selected from the group of compounds having lone pair electrons including water, amines, alcohols, phosphines, and ethers, and z ranges from 0 to 5. In general, the organo groups of the mono-anionic ligands will be the same although they may be different, and they preferably are selected from alkyl, aryl, substituted aryl, and ether groups. For example, when L is a dialkyldithiocarbamate or a dialkyldithiophosphate, the alkyl groups will have from about 1 to 30 carbon atoms.

  • Patent number: 5750478
Abstract: This invention relates to synthetic based turbo oils, preferably polyol ester-based turbo oils which exhibit exceptional load-carrying capacity by use of a synergistic combination of sulfur (S)-based and phosphorous (P)-based load additives. The S-containing additive of the present invention is sulfurized fatty acid (SFA), preferably the sulfurized oleic acid (SOA) and the P-containing additive is one or more amine phosphate(s). The turbo oil composition consisting of the dual P/S additives of the present invention achieves an excellent load-carrying capacity, which is better than or equivalent to that obtained when each additive was used alone at a treat rate higher than the total additive combination treat rate, and this lower additive concentration requirement allows the turbo oil composition to meet or exceed U.S. Navy MIL-L-23699 requirements including Oxidation and Corrosion Stability and Si seal compatibility.
