  • Patent number: 10342697
Abstract: A drug delivery device includes a drug-eluting element defined by a plurality of outer surfaces including a delivery surface and one or more other non-delivery surfaces. The delivery surface is positioned against tissue of an eye and shaped to define an area of targeted tissue to receive a drug. The drug-eluting element holds the drug when the delivery surface is not positioned against the tissue. Responsive to the delivery surface being positioned against the tissue, the drug-eluting element releases the drug to the area of targeted tissue through the delivery surface. The drug delivery device includes one or more barrier structures disposed along the one or more non-delivery surfaces of the drug-eluting element. The one or more barrier structures substantially inhibit release of the drug from the drug-eluting element through the one or more non-delivery surfaces.

  • Publication number: 20190200782
Abstract: A tray for dispensing product containers, particularly yogurt containers, which vary widely in size and shape and frequently are stacked several high. The tray is of adjustable width and of extruded construction. The tray comprises two main components, one forming a bottom part and a high wall, the other forming a bottom part and a low wall. The high wall has a flanged track running lengthwise and the low wall has a T-shaped rail for reception in the flanged track of an adjacent tray. An array of trays are thus connected such that the high wall of one tray serves as a second high wall for an adjacent connected tray while allowing a tray to be pulled forward, supported by its neighbors, for restocking. A pusher and pull strip are provided in which an L-shaped pusher can be reversely oriented and thereby optimized for round or rectangular containers.

  • Publication number: 20190192840
Abstract: Example eye treatments determine an area at a surface of a cornea for delivery of a cross-linking agent. The example treatments disrupt tissue at the area at the surface of the cornea up to a depth corresponding to apical layers of superficial squamous cells of the cornea, e.g., no greater than approximately 10 ?m to approximately 15 ?m. The example treatments apply a cross-linking agent to the area at the surface of the cornea. The cross-linking agent is transmitted through the disrupted area at a greater rate relative to non disrupted areas of the cornea. The example treatments deliver photoactivating light to the cornea. The photoactivating light activates the cross-linking agent to generate cross-linking activity in the cornea.

  • Patent number: 10332615
Abstract: A method, system and computer readable medium for tracking changes in average glycemia in diabetes is based on a conceptually new approach to the retrieval of SMBG data. Using the understanding of HbA1c fluctuation as the measurable effect of the action of an underlying dynamical system, SMBG provides occasional glimpses at the state of this system and, using these measurements, the hidden underlying system trajectory can be reconstructed for individual diabetes patients. Using compartmental modeling a new two-step algorithm is provided that includes: (i) real-time estimate of HbA1c from fasting glucose readings, updated with any new incoming fasting SMBG data point(s), and (ii) initialization and calibration of the estimated HbA1c trace with daily SMBG profiles obtained periodically. The estimation of these profiles includes a factorial model capturing daily BG variability within two latent factors.

  • Publication number: 20190185276
Abstract: A transport system comprising linear motor modules utilized both straight and curved track modules, with movers displaced on the track modules by control of power applied to coils of the modules. Curved track modules have modified spline geometries to provide desired acceleration and jerk characteristics. The modified spline geometries may be defined by more than one generators, such as an equation generator and a spline fit between the equation-generated segment and one or more constrained points or locations. The curved track modules may be divided into 180 degree modules, or may be reduced to 90 degree, 45 degree or other fractional arcs to provide for modular assembly, mirror-image geometries and motion profiles, and the like. The system may be adapted to provide improved motion characteristics based on modification of a conventional spline geometry.

  • Publication number: 20190164123
Abstract: A management system for managing the utilization of item receptacles in a distribution network. Items can be transferred to recipients at a limited number of item receptacles in unit delivery facilities of the distribution network. Item retrieval behavior is tracked to determine a recipient score for known recipients. Based on the recipient scores, subsequent items to be transferred can be placed in a receptacle or a storage area based on the associated recipient score. Placement in receptacles can be prioritized to recipients with low scores indicating that the item will likely be retrieved quickly, while items addressed to recipients with high scores may not be placed into a receptacle if receptacles are scarce.

  • Patent number: 10299652
Abstract: A surface treatment robot includes a chassis having forward and rear ends and a drive system carried by the chassis. The drive system includes right and left driven wheels and is configured to maneuver the robot over a cleaning surface. The robot includes a vacuum assembly, a collection volume, a supply volume, an applicator, and a wetting element, each carried by the chassis. The wetting element engages the cleaning surface to distribute a cleaning liquid applied to the surface by the applicator. The wetting element distributes the cleaning liquid along at least a portion of the cleaning surface when the robot is driven in a forward direction. The wetting element is arranged substantially forward of a transverse axis defined by the right and left driven wheels, and the wetting element slidably supports at least about ten percent of the mass of the robot above the cleaning surface.

  • Patent number: 10294131
Abstract: The polarized electrode flow through capacitor comprises at least one each electrode material, with a pore volume that includes meso and micropores, with contained anionic or cationic groups. The polarized electrodes are in opposite polarity facing pairs, separated by a flow path or flow spacer. Both polarities of the particular attached ionic groups used are ionized at the working pH or composition of the particular feed solution supplied to inlet of the flow through capacitor. The contained groups cause the electrodes to be polarized so that they are selective to anions or cations. The polarized electrode flow through capacitor has better performance compared to identical flow through capacitors made from non-derivitized carbon. The capacitor electrode materials so derivitized provide this polarization function directly without need for a separate charge barrier material.
