  • Publication number: 20210085961
Abstract: A neural implant is provided for electrical stimulation and recording of brain or nervous system tissue. The neural implant is of cellular scale and could be used as a natural integration in neural tissue that enables the development of scalable brain machine interfaces that stably interface with the same neural populations over a life-time period. A biomimetic a multi-channel neural implant is provided sharing similar dimensions, dynamics, and spatial distribution as that of natural axon bundles in the brain. A simple approach of delivery compatible with commercially available electrophysiology rigs enabled minimal surgical perturbation of existing neural architectures. This invention represents a step forward in developing the next generation of seamless brain-machine interface to study and modulate the activities of specific sub-populations of neurons, and to develop therapies for a plethora of neurological diseases.

  • Publication number: 20190276107
Abstract: In an aspect, a vehicle is provided that includes a frame, a wheel, first and second footrests, a motor and a control system. The wheel further has a longitudinal radius and a lateral radius that is within 10% of the longitudinal radius. Each footrest has a foot support surface and is movable between a folded position, and a deployed position for supporting a foot of a user. The vehicle possesses a generally spherical outer shape. The center of mass is less than a quarter of the longitudinal radius of curvature away from the geometric center of the wheel. The motor drives rotation of the wheel relative to the frame. The control system controls operation of the motor based at least in part on an orientation of the self-balancing vehicle.

  • Patent number: 10254440
Abstract: Process for constructing a volume mesh of a subsurface formation comprising at least one sedimentary layer traversed by at least one fault. On the basis of a representation in a closed domain of the geometry of the horizons and of the faults in a parametric space before deformation and rupture, the bounds of the blocks delimited by the faults, the horizons and the boundaries of the domain are projected onto a reference surface. Next a surface mesh is constructed constrained by the projections thus obtained on the reference surface. At each node of the surface mesh, a vertical polygonal line passing through this node is defined. Next a volume mesh is constructed by vertical extrusion of the surface mesh along the polygonal lines. Application in particular to exploration and to exploitation of oilfields.
