Abstract: Disclosed is a mixer 1 for mixing at least two components a dental material having a drive shaft 20. The drive shaft 20 at a front end has a drive shaft coupling with a coupling plug 21. The coupling receptacle 11 of the mixing rotor 5 and the coupling plug 21 if the drive shaft 20 are adapted for mating with one another. In particular the coupling receptacle 11 and the coupling plug 21 are adapted for positive engagement with one another. The coupling receptacle 11 of the mixer 1 extends along a rotation axis A of the mixer 1, and the coupling plug 21 of the drive shaft extends along a rotation axis B of the drive shaft 20. Both the coupling receptacle 11 and the coupling plug 21 have a cross-sectional profile that is shaped such that it can be positively engaged. In particular the cross-sectional profile of the coupling receptacle and/or the coupling plus may be hexagonal.

Abstract: A device for storing and mixing a plurality of paste components which, when mixed, form a hardenable composition, includes a base plate and a cover. The base plate has an upper planar surface bearing two or more non-self-leveling pastes and adhered thereon in spaced apart areas and. The cover is adhered to the upper surface of the base plate around the pastes and defines a chamber for the pastes. No portion of the cover contacts the pastes. The cover is removably affixed to the base plate, to allow exposure of the pastes for mixing together on the upper surface of the base plate.

Abstract: A device for dispensing a dental material comprises a container for containing the material and an outlet which is closed by a closure. A breakable seal is arranged between the closure and the container. The device further is operable between a storage position in which the outlet is closed and an operational position in which the outlet is open. An initial operation toward the operational position causes the seal to break, whereby the closure is captured in the device. The device may provide a relatively long shelf life for the material, and may facilitate preparation of the material for use.

The device may be used in different types of applicators and is relatively inexpensive.

The device is switchable between a storage mode and an operative mode. In the storage mode a cannula is locked in the device and the valve opens the outlet, and in the storage mode the cannula can be released from the device and the valve closes the outlet. The device may facilitate handling and may be relatively inexpensive.

The device comprises first and second compartments formed between sheet-like layers, and first and second dispensing outlets for the first and second compartments, respectively. For use, the device can be positioned with the compartments overlapping each other and with the dispensing outlets located side by side. The invention may provide a rather inexpensive device which may help a user in a convenient preparation of a dental material.

The device comprises a cannula for dispensing a dental substance, and comprises a dental retraction cord disposed within the cannula so that the dental retraction cord is entrained by the dental substance dispensed through the cannula. The invention may help to facilitate a gingival retraction procedure in dentistry.

Abstract: A mixer for mixing a dental composition comprises a mixer housing with a wall of the mixer housing forming a light filter. The light filter provides for substantially blocking light of certain wavelengths, whereas it transmits light of at least some other wavelengths. The invention may help to prevent dental compositions from degrading.
