Patent number: 7502278Abstract: Analog beamformers for continuous wave ultrasonic receivers, typically realized in integrated circuit form and using a direct quadrature baseband conversion architecture for CW Doppler to eliminate a second down conversion mixer and second synthesizer. The beamformers use integrated mixers and LO's for phase steering, and dedicated ring counters for each channel for lower noise. Input filtering may be provided with switchable RF input low pass filters. The integrated circuit includes the ultrasound signal VGA and beamformer on the same chip. An auxiliary channel may be included for a self-test mode. Also a programmable bit soft shutdown feature, programmable via the serial port, allows disabling individual channels. Patent number: 7205817Abstract: Analog control integrated FET based variable resistors and attenuators using the variable resistors having a wide range of monotonic and substantially linear attenuation with control voltage for use in circuits having AC signals of AC signal frequencies. The variable resistors comprise field effect devices (FETs) biased to operate in their linear region and having their bodies and gates coupled to a reference voltage and a control voltage, respectively, through impedances, typically resistors, having impedances that are higher than the impedances of parasitic capacitances at the signal frequencies. This allows the body and gate of each FET to vary in voltage with the signal to maintain the bias of the FETs in the presence of large signals. Various embodiments are disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 2005Date of Patent: April 17, 2007Assignee: Maxim Integrated Products, Inc.Inventors: Feng-Jung Huang, Jean-Marc Roger Mourant

Patent number: 6334755Abstract: The invention provides a turbomachine including a device for supplying pressurized gas, the gas being bled from the compressor of the turbomachine via a bleed orifice and cooled in a cooling cavity disposed within the compressor rotor upstream of the bleed orifice. This arrangement has the effect of cooling the bled gas by heat transfer through the outer wall of the compressor rotor to the gas stream which is being compressed by the compressor upstream of the bleed orifice, and has the result of reducing the drop in the performance of the compressor as a result of the gas being bled off.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 2000Date of Patent: January 1, 2002Assignee: Snecma MoteursInventors: Xavier Gérard André Coudray, Mischaël François Louis Derrien, Marc Roger Marchi, Philippe Christian Pellier, Jean-Claude Christian Taillant, Thierry Henri Marcel Tassin, Christophe Bernard Texier, Isabelle Marie Monique Valente

Patent number: 6163959Abstract: A method of reducing the gap between a liner and a turbine distributor of a turbojet engine. The method allows for the improvement of the seal on the inside of the distributor of the high pressure turbine at the lower platform. The method includes the steps of: applying a protective deposit to the lower part of the external surface of the liner, before carrying out a filling by diffusion brazing between the liner and the distributor. The protective deposit, preferably a anti-adherent ceramic, makes it possible for the braze to avoid fixing the liner onto the distributor at the lower platform level. The method also has applications to turbojet engines.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 1999Date of Patent: December 26, 2000Assignee: Societe Nationale d'etude et de Construction de Moteurs d'Aviation "S.N.E.C.M.A."Inventors: Anne-Marie Arraitz, Eric Stephan Bil, Michel Gerard Paul Hacault, Laurent Philippe Yves Leray, Michel Jean Loubet, Marc Roger Marchi, Jean Manuel Morcillo, Didier Marie Mortgat, Michel Jean-Pierre Pernot, Thierry Christian Sanz

Patent number: 6017189Abstract: A cooling system is disclosed for cooling the platforms of turbine blades fixed to the periphery of a turbine rotor, each turbine blade having an airfoil portion, a platform with opposite longitudinal edges, a root portion affixed to the turbine rotor, and a shank portion connecting the root portion to the platform. Adjacent turbine blades are located such that a longitudinal edge of one platform is adjacent to a longitudinal edge of an adjacent platform. A cavity is formed bounded by a portion of the periphery of the turbine rotor, the shank portions of the adjacent turbine blades, and the platforms of the adjacent turbine blades. A cooling air passage supplies cooling air to the cavity. One or more cooling channels are formed in a side of the platform facing the turbine rotor, each cooling channel having a cooling air collector at an end located adjacent to the air supply passage and communicating with the cavity.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 1998Date of Patent: January 25, 2000Assignee: Societe National D'Etede et de Construction de Moteurs D'Aviation (S.N.E.C.M.A.)Inventors: Maurice Judet, Marc Roger Marchi

Patent number: 4708836Abstract: A cranium is firstly produced form an epoxy resin, whose thickness is adapted so that the compressive strength at a given point is the same as at the corresponding point of a real cranium. This is followed by the fitting of the soft parts, i.e. the brain, eyeballs, flats of the ear and nasal pyramid. These members are made from a silicone to which a variable quantity of oil has been added to ensure that their hardness is the same as that of the corresponding real organs. The cranium is then placed on a support permitting the correct orientation thereof in the mould where the skin is cast.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 1986Date of Patent: November 24, 1987Assignees: Commissariat a l'Energie Atomique, L'Etat FrancaisInventors: Robert Gain, Jacques Simon, Andre Pasturel, Marc Roger
