  • Publication number: 20140351910
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for authorizing third-party access to a specific service from a service provider. In an example embodiment, a server system identifies a shared service from multiple services provided by the server system. The shared service is specified by an authorizing entity. The server system provides a credential associated with the shared service and the authorizing entity. The server system receives a request to access the shared service from a requesting entity that is separate from the authorizing entity. The server system verifies that the request includes the credential and that the credential is associated with the shared service and the authorizing entity. The server system provides access to the shared service to the requesting entity based on verifying that the request includes the credential. The requesting entity is restricted to accessing the shared service identified by the credential as authorized by the authorizing entity.

  • Publication number: 20140349369
Abstract: The present invention provides histidyl-tRNA synthetase and Fc region conjugate polypeptides (HRS-Fc conjugates), such as HRS-Fc fusion polypeptides, compositions comprising the same, and methods of using such conjugates and compositions for treating or diagnosing a variety of conditions. The HRS-Fc conjugates of the invention have improved controlled release properties, stability, half-life, and other pharmacokinetic and biological properties relative to corresponding, unmodified HRS polypeptides.

  • Publication number: 20120233295
Abstract: A mechanism for declarative service domain federation uses a declarative approach to both the visibility aspect and the management aspect of service domain federation. Instead of manually exporting services, that is, selecting individual services from source domains to be visible in the target domain, using the present system, a federation architect uses a federation console to specify federation intent. The federation intent may include federation rule, query-based service group, and quality-of-service (QoS) policy. Based on the declared federation intent, a planning engine resolves the individual services based on the group query, generates the service visibility configuration, and creates the necessary service proxies and/or mediation objects to satisfy the goal. At runtime, a service monitor collects the performance metrics of federated services and dynamically adjusts the mediation/proxy configurations to maintain the QoS objectives specified by the federation architect.

  • Publication number: 20120203908
Abstract: Integrating data processing resources across a hybrid cloud includes providing a plug-in software component configured to be installed in a software framework. When the plug-in software component is activated, it may generate an interface for a consumer of data processing resources. Using this interface, the consumer of data processing resources may request the use of data processing resources provided as a service on the hybrid cloud. In response, the plug-in software component may acquire the requested data processing resources via interfaces provided by the various data processing resources. A number of different data processing resources may have different interface requirements. However, the first interface generated by the plug-in software component may provide a single vendor neutral interface for accessing data processing resources on the hybrid cloud by the consumer of data processing resources.

  • Publication number: 20120204187
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer program product for managing a workload in a hybrid cloud. It is determined whether first data processing resources processing a portion of a workload are overloaded. Responsive to a determination that the first data processing resources are overloaded, second data processing resources are automatically provisioned and the portion of the workload is automatically moved to the second data processing resources for processing. The second data processing resources are data processing resources that are provided as a service on the hybrid cloud. Processing of a first portion of a workload being processed on first data processing resources of a hybrid cloud are monitored simultaneously with monitoring processing of a second portion of the workload being processed on second data processing resources of the hybrid cloud. The workload may be allocated automatically between the first portion and the second portion responsive to the simultaneous monitoring.

  • Patent number: 8209251
Abstract: The cross correlation tool is used to quickly understand and describe the composition of an asset portfolio and the response of a user selected variable versus other variables in the portfolio. The tool is also used to quickly identify unexpectedly high or low correlation between two attribute variables and the response variable. Identification of unexpected correlations improves understanding of the portfolio data and the decisions regarding a potential purchase of the portfolio. Attribute variables are of two types, continuous and categorical. The cross correlations are computed between all variables of interest and their bin or level and presented in a two dimensional matrix for easy identification of trends.

  • Patent number: 8149227
Abstract: Systems for removing or attenuating friction and/or click noise generated during writing with a smart pen are disclosed. In a smart pen, the writing cartridge is biased towards a first side of the smart pen internal cavity by a low-force biasing system without affecting writing cartridge movement. For example, the writing cartridge is comprised of a magnetic material and a magnet is embedded into the first side of the smart pen internal cavity to bias the writing cartridge towards the first side. Alternatively, the material comprising the writing cartridge or smart pen internal cavity is modified, reducing friction between the components. As another alternative, a DSP method identifies analyzes one or more parameters of received audio data to differentiate click noise from audio data, and may receive data from a movement sensor indicating when the writing cartridge has moved to reduce power consumption for identifying click noise.

  • Publication number: 20100087873
Abstract: The present application is directed to connectors for attaching an elongated member to a bone. The connectors may include a receiver that is attached to an anchor. The receiver may include a base and outwardly-extending arms that form a channel to receive the elongated member. The base may include an opening that extends into a receptacle. The opening may include a first section in an inferior side of the receiver, and a cut-out in a lateral side. During attachment, the anchor may be positioned relative to the receiver such that a head of the anchor may be inserted into the first section and a shaft of the anchor may be inserted into a second section. After insertion, the anchor is rotated to move the shaft out of the cut-out while the head remains in the receptacle. A wedge is then attached to the receiver over the cut-out to prevent the anchor from escaping.
