Abstract: A method of obtaining user subscription data pertaining to a subscriber in a telecommunication network, said method comprising the steps of receiving, by a coexistence function, a trigger from a Network Function, NF, said trigger indicating a need for user subscription data pertaining to said subscriber, determining, by said coexistence function, that said user subscription data is not available in a Unified Data Repository of said telecommunication network, obtaining, by said coexistence function, said user subscription data from a user data repository, upon said determining that said user subscription data is not available with said unified data repository, wherein said user data repository and said unified data repository are accessible by two separate communication interfaces, and transmitting, by said coexistence function, to said NF, said obtained user subscription data. A corresponding coexistence function and computer program product are also presented herein.

Abstract: Transferring context data from a first network functional set, NFS, to another. A method and apparatuses provide for transferring restoration context data from a first NFS toward a second NFS. This method includes receiving, at the first NFS from a context transfer requester, a transfer request indicating transfer of context data toward the second NFS; transmitting, from the first NFS toward a network repository function, NRF, a context transfer request indicating transfer of context data from the first NFS to the second NFS; transmitting, from the NRF toward the first NFS, a context transfer response indicating a status of the first NFS; notifying, from the NRF toward a network function, NF, service consumer, of transfer information related to the transfer of context data from the first NFS to the second NFS; transferring, from the first NFS toward the second NFS, restoration context data; and storing the restoration context data.

Abstract: Methods and systems for Unstructured Data Storage Function (UDSF) services in a telecommunications network, such as a Fifth Generation (5G) Core network are provided. According to one aspect of the present disclosure, a method for UDSF services in a telecommunications network comprises, at a UDSF node for providing UDSF services and having circuitry: receiving, from a first network node, a first request to perform a data operation involving first data associated with an identified User Equipment (UE) and an identified Network Function (NF); and sending, to the first network node, a response to the first request, the response comprising a locking status of the first data and/or redirect information.

Abstract: A method of registering a service in a telecommunication network having a Service Based Architecture, SBA. The telecommunication network has a Service Collection Function, SCF, including a plurality of distinct SBA services and including a Collection Controller, CoC, for registering and discovering the plurality of distinct SBA services within the SCF. The telecommunication network further includes a Network Repository Function, NRF, for registering and discovering services within the telecommunication network. The method includes the steps of receiving, by the CoC, from an of the distinct SBA services, a registration message for registering a service, determining, by the CoC, that the service is to be provided within the SCF, refraining, by the CoC, from forwarding the registration message to said NRF based on the determination, registering, by the CoC, the service in the CoC for discovering the service by any of the plurality of distinct SBA services within the SCF.

Abstract: Exemplary embodiments include a method for managing user authentication credentials in relation to different types of core networks, CNs. The exemplary methods can include receiving (1010) a request to authenticate a user for access via a first CN, and determining (1020) that user authentication credentials are unavailable in relation to the first CN. The exemplary methods can also include sending (1030), to a translator function associated with a second CN that is different than the first CN, a request to provide user authentication credentials associated with the first CN. The exemplary methods can also include receiving (1040) user authentication credentials associated with the first CN and, based on the received user authentication credentials, authenticating (1050) the user for access via the first CN. Embodiments also include data management nodes configured to perform the exemplary methods, as well as complementary methods and nodes configured to perform such methods.

Abstract: A service controller receives an operation request for a service for a consumer node of a communication network, the operation request including a context identifier referring to a context related to the operation request. The service controller forwards the operation request to a first service instance set being identified by the service controller as handling the context related to the operation request. Responsive to determining that the first service instance set is unreachable or unavailable, the service controller selects a second service instance set as a candidate to handle the context related to the operation request. The operation request for the service is then forwarded to the second service instance set.

Abstract: A method to operate a first service instance set associated with a first storage resource node. The first service instance set may be for a service, and the first storage resource node may store context data for the service. An access context request may be transmitted to the first storage resource node, and the access context request may include an identification for a subgroup of context data being requested from the first storage resource node. An access context response may be received from the first storage resource node. The access context response may correspond to the access context request, and the access context response may include the subgroup of context data corresponding to the identification.

Abstract: A technique for concurrency control of transactions in a system comprising a plurality of application instances accessing a database system is provided. A method implementation of the technique is performed by the database system and comprises receiving, from a first application instance of the plurality of application instances, a transaction start request indicating a start of a transaction to lock data stored in the database system against access requests not belonging to the transaction while the transaction is ongoing, receiving, from a second application instance of the plurality of application instances, an access request to at least a portion of the data while the transaction is ongoing, and controlling acceptance of the access request based on checking whether the access request belongs to the transaction.

Abstract: Systems and methods for updating subscriber data are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method of operation of a serving node in a communication network for updating subscriber data includes receiving a modification of subscriber data for one or more subscribers and determining if updates to the subscriber data for the one or more subscribers are needed now. In response to determining that updates are needed now, the method includes communicating the modification for subscribers to one or more additional nodes and/or initiating other types of signaling towards other network nodes as a result. In response to determining that updates are not needed now, the method includes postponing the communication of the modification of the subscriber data for the one or more subscribers. In this way, signaling floods towards external network elements may be avoided when a modification is performed to subscription data that affects multiple subscribers (potentially even millions).

The first front-end node operates in a communications network comprising a pool of front-end nodes for providing access to a database. The pool of front-end nodes includes the first front-end node. The first front-end node receives, from a load balancer node, a first request for data from the database, from a client node. The first front-end node provides, to the client node, a first response to the received first request, the first response including a first indication indicating that the first front-end node is a preferred node for providing a subsequent response to a subsequent request for data from the client node. Abstract: A method of and a device for operating a service discovery and selection function in a telecommunications system, wherein the service discovery and selection function registers a service profile of a service provided by at least one service producer of the telecommunications system. The service profile among others includes consistency group information and proximity information. The consistency group information identifies instances of the service sharing a same state and the proximity information identifies deployment of the instances in the telecommunications system. The service discovery and selection function, from the service profile, based on service selection criteria, selects a single service instance of the service for a service consumer of the telecommunications system requesting the service, and identifies the selected service instance to the service consumer.
