  • Patent number: 10092842
Abstract: The systems and methods are directed towards object driven attributes for characters within a network-based game. More specifically, characters within a network-based game have various attributes that are influenced with the association and/or possession of objects provided by the user. These user-provided objects impact one or more attributes possessed by a character within the network-based game thereby influencing the character's actions, personality and motivations. In other embodiments, the characters within the network-based game communicate with players using a variety of methods such as social media, e-mail and text. The communications provide in-game updates for the player to view. The player can provide natural language commands or responses for the characters that may influence the character's actions within the game.

  • Patent number: 10066914
Abstract: A disposable indicator for use with an arrow or crossbow bolt comprising a substrate and a chemical indicator material capable of detecting and visually indicating chemical properties of a bodily fluid wiped from the arrow by a change in color. Chemical indicating materials may be selected to indicates a variety of bodily fluid chemical properties using pH, enzyme, or detection of other bodily compounds. The indicator provides an immediate indication of the portions of the animal's body through which the arrow or bolt passed, enabling the hunter to determine the type of shot and how best to track the wounded animal. An additional benefit is that the substrate can be used to clean the arrow or bolt in additional to providing a chemical shot indication.

  • Patent number: 10027994
Abstract: A method and apparatus for processing object-based audio signals for reproduction through a playback system is provided. The apparatus receives a plurality of object-based audio signals in at least one audio frame. In addition, the apparatus receives at least one audio object command associated with at least one object-based audio signal of the plurality of object-based audio signals. In addition, the apparatus processes the at least one object-based audio signal based on the received at least one audio object command. Further, the apparatus renders a set of object-based audio signals of the plurality of object-based audio signals to a set of output signals based on the at least one audio object command. The at least one audio frame may be received from one of a set top box, an OD player, or a television. The apparatus may be an AV receiver or a television.

  • Publication number: 20180129610
Abstract: Embodiments disclose techniques for sharing a context for a coherent accelerator in a kernel of a computer system. A request is received from a first application to perform an I/O operation within a kernel context. The request specifies a first effective address distinct to the first application. The first effective address specifies a location in a first effective address space and a first effective segment identifier. The first effective address is remapped to a second effective address. The second effective address specifies a location in a second effective address space of the kernel context and a second effective segment identifier. A virtual address mapping to a virtual address space within the kernel context is determined. The virtual address is translated to a physical memory address.

  • Publication number: 20180129255
Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein generally relate to techniques for zeroing memory in computing systems where access to memory is non-uniform. One embodiment provides a method which includes receiving, via a system call, a request to delete a memory region. The method also includes forwarding the request to an intermediate software thread, and using the intermediate software thread to perform the request as a background process. The method further includes, upon receiving a message from the intermediate software thread, returning to a system caller, while performing the request, via the intermediate software thread, continues in the background.
