  • Patent number: 9248243
Abstract: A method for producing a label for affixing to a syringe body, which label on both sides of an extension area comprises a first flat side and a second flat side, a first label region, which is wrappable about the syringe body, a second label region, which is joined to the first label region and which on the first flat side and/or the second flat side comprises a needle receiving device for a syringe needle for the protection from injuries through the syringe needle. The needle receiving device is produced into a receiving device region wholly or partly forming the needle receiving device by applying a build-up layer onto a carrier substrate of the second label region and moulding the build-up layer on the carrier substrate.

  • Publication number: 20150213049
Abstract: A method of performing a global deduplication may include: collecting a data chunk to be written to a backing storage of a storage system at a staging area in the storage system; generating a data fingerprint of the data chunk; sending the data fingerprint in batch along with other data fingerprints corresponding to data chunks collected at different times to a metadata server system in the storage system; receiving an indication, at the staging area, of whether the data fingerprint is unique in the storage system from the metadata server system; and discarding the data chunk when committing a data object containing the data chunk to the backing storage, when the indication indicates that the data chunk is not unique.

Abstract: Provided herein are compositions comprising one or more agents that inhibit or reduce the activity of IL-20. Optionally, the agents further inhibit or reduce the activity of IL-24. Kits and method of treating or preventing an inflammatory or autoimmune disease using the compositions are also provided. In addition, provided are methods of screening for agents that selectively bind the IL20R1/IL-20R2 receptor complex or that selectively bind the IL-22R1/IL-20R2 receptor complex. The methods include contacting an agent to be screened with the receptor and determining whether the agent selectively binds to the receptor.

  • Patent number: 8930648
Abstract: Techniques for a data storage cluster and a method for deduplicating data in the data storage cluster in a scalable manner, by (among other things) using an epoch-based global chunk data structure, are disclosed herein. A global chunk data structure for an epoch is distributed and maintained at a plurality of metadata nodes within the data storage cluster. Fingerprints and identifiers of data chunks are written to the cluster after a particular epoch are written to delta chunk data structures stored in different metadata nodes of the cluster. When the data storage cluster advances to the next epoch, the global chunk data structure is updated using the delta chunk data structures. At any given time, data deduplication in the data storage cluster can be conducted based on the global chunk data structure for the current epoch.

  • Patent number: 8875115
Abstract: An apparatus, process, and computer program product to merge types in an object-oriented program is disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a process may include analyzing a method within an object-oriented program to identify merge candidates. These merge candidates may then be recorded in a merge candidate list. The process may further include identifying at least two code paths in the method that merge into a single code path and that operate on different types. The types in these code paths may then be merged to a nearest common superclass listed in the merge candidate list. In selected embodiments, the types may be merged to the java.lang.Object class in the event the merge candidate list is empty.

  • Patent number: 8696478
Abstract: A dasher board assembly, particularly well-suited for an ice hockey rink, includes a number of advantageous structures including an ice dam (ice retainer), puck rebound facilitator backing a kickplate, and a unitary rigid L-shaped anchoring device for the dasher board frame. The ice dam has a main body component and a lip upstanding from the body a distance sufficient to assist in blocking moisture movement past the dasher board and to provide an open space. The rigid L-shaped anchoring device is connected by fasteners to vertical elements of the dasher board frame, and to the ice dam body, to provide stable mounting of the frame. The puck rebound facilitator may be a buckling elastomeric tube that is essentially rigid when a hockey puck impacts the kickplate but buckles to absorb the force of impact if a hockey player strikes the dasher board.

  • Publication number: 20130339083
Abstract: Products are selected for placement on check-out lane end caps at retail store locations. In one example, products are selected for placement on check-out lane end caps in one or more stores based on historical sales data for each product across all of the stores. Each check-out lane end cap includes a fixture configured to hold and display product(s) for sale in a store. A total number of stores into which each product is to be placed in at least one check-out lane end cap is received. A sales performance metric is determined for each selected product based on in-store historical sales data representative of sales of the product in each store. A particular store into which to place each selected product in a check-out lane end cap is determined based on the received total number of stores and the determined sales performance metric for the product.

  • Patent number: 8538889
Abstract: An instance of an application hierarchy can be stored on a client computer to facilitate enforcement of software licensing by a software license component of a software protection system. The application hierarchy is a tree structure (e.g., unordered) that includes a top node, one or more product offering group(s), and, one or more selling unit(s). A computer-implemented software protection system can facilitate enforcement of software licensing on a client computer. The software protection system includes a software license component that can store and enforce software licensing rule(s). The software license component can further manipulate state data of an instance of the application hierarchy stored in a licensing data store via application program interface(s) (APIs). State data and/or property(ies) of a particular node of the instance of the application hierarchy can be accessed through the API via an assigned identifier.

  • Publication number: 20130040746
Abstract: A dasher board assembly provides enhanced safety, such as for ice hockey rinks. The assembly is constructed so that on low height impacts a dampening material with at least one of a damping coefficient of about 1.7-3.2×104 N-s/m, a spring constant of about 1.5-3.0×106 N/m, and a loss coefficient greater than 0.15, absorbs the impact. On high height impacts both the dampening material and deflection of cantilevered generally vertical polygonal aluminum tubes absorb the impact. The assembly results in a Head Injury Criteria of less than 250 for all realistic scenarios, and a reduction of HIC values of at least 30% compared to an equivalent assembly with a rigid frame.

  • Patent number: 8321438
Abstract: Techniques for a data repository, e.g., a data warehouse, connect multiple disparate systems and combine different software tools to provide a full view of the data warehouse for an end user. An inventory tool integration and services interface includes a tool integration component, a common data component, and an inventory services component. The tool integration component obtains data sets from different tools. The common data component converts each data set and combines the converted data sets. The inventory services component provides the combined data sets through a user interface for an end user. The inventory tool integration and services interface appropriately combines data sets and supports different user interfaces for different end users having different roles within an enterprise. The tool and services integration interface also may obtain a data set from a tool in accordance with an integration option.

  • Patent number: 8311075
Abstract: An improved method is provided for decoding data in a frequency hopping communications system. The method includes: monitoring transition points between data bits in a demodulated data stream, where the data bits are transmitted to a receiver over different transmission frequencies; determining a frequency over which data bits are transmitted to the receiver; determining a reliability metric for each frequency over which data bits were received, where the reliability metric is based on transition points of data bits transmitted over a given frequency; and performing a decoding operation using the reliability metric for each frequency over which data bits were received.

  • Publication number: 20120192293
Abstract: A method and apparatus for configuring an electronics device. The method includes receiving, by the electronics device, a request for a command to perform a predetermined operation by the electronics device and sending the command in response to receiving the request. The electronics device then receives a signature based upon the command, whereupon the electronics device verifies the signature by the electronics device and, following an affirmative verification, executes the command for performing the predetermined operation. In this way, the electronics device may be reconfigured remotely without knowledge of the particular command for performing the predetermined operation by the electronics device.
