  • Publication number: 20160028829
Abstract: In an embodiment, a given user equipment (UE) in a local communication session (e.g., a P2P or ad-hoc session) between multiple UEs is designated to record session data. The given UE records the session data exchanged between the multiple UEs during the local communication session and uploads the recorded session data to a server after the local communication session has terminated. In another embodiment, a session controller (e.g., a remote server or a P2P node) receives multiple media feeds from multiple transmitting UEs, and selectively interlaces subsets of the multiple media feeds into interlaced output feed(s) that are transmitted to target UE(s). The target UE(s) provide feedback which permits the session controller to determine a lowest relevant configuration (LRC) for the target UE(s) that is used to regulate the interlaced output feed(s) transmitted thereto.

  • Publication number: 20150365521
Abstract: Methods and servers are disclosed for dynamically adjusting mobile communication device resources for maintaining call on the mobile communication device subject to a lawful intercept. Methods may include a server transmitting to the mobile communication device an activation input for activating a call extender daemon that cannot be deactivated. A resource status indication message may be received from the mobile communication device. The resource status indication message may include a state of an onboard resource of the mobile communication device. A resource adjustment input may be transmitted from the server to the mobile communication device. The resource adjustment input may cause the call extender daemon to adjust an operating state of the onboard resource of the mobile communication device based on the activation input to increase a likelihood of maintaining an active call on the mobile communication device and without alerting a user of the mobile communication device.

  • Patent number: 9210202
Abstract: A system, method, and wireless communication device for sharing media in a group communication among a plurality of wireless communications devices, such as among a Push-to-Talk (PTT) group. A wireless communication device that is a member of the communication group can send group-directed media, such as graphics, multimedia and applications, to other members of the communication group, either during a ongoing PTT communication, or independently therefrom. In one embodiment, a group communication computer device stores information on communication groups on the wireless communication network that includes the member wireless communication devices of one or more communication groups, and receives group-directed media from a sending wireless communication device sends the group-directed media either directly to the other member wireless communication devices of the communication group or stores the group-directed media such that the other member devices can access and download the group-directed media.

  • Patent number: 9179277
Abstract: Methods, systems and devices are provided for managing electronic communications on a communication device including receiving an incoming call indication from an originating device. The methods, system and devices may include transmitting a delay indication in response to determining the delayed call acceptance is warranted and receiving a first message segment and subsequently a second message segment from the originating device. Additionally, they may include outputting at least one of the first message segment and the second message segment in response to determining whether to output at least one of the first message segment and the second message segment. Further, they may include transmitting a playback status including a series of status indications reflecting an updated output progress of the first message segment at a recipient device in response to determining the first message segment should be output.

  • Publication number: 20150289115
Abstract: In an embodiment, a communication device (e.g., a user equipment (UE), a server, etc.) determines one or more current parameters associated with an operating environment of the first UE, and then excludes at least one communication mode from one or more available communication modes to produce a set of communication modes by which a second UE is recommended to contact the first UE. In another embodiment, the communication device selectively recommends communication groups to users of UEs with current operational capabilities similar to characteristics of the recommended communication groups. In another embodiment, a server determines that a threshold number or a threshold percentage of group-members of an existing communication group are friends with a set of users that do not yet belong to the existing communication group, and then recommends that the set of users join the existing communication group.

  • Publication number: 20150230066
Abstract: Methods and systems for controlling group communications using a mobile device includes detecting a motion of the mobile device corresponding to a user placing the device on a surface, maintain a communication session with another mobile device while the user is detected in proximity to the first mobile device, and entering a non-active communication mode when the user is not detected in proximity to the device. The communication session may be maintained for a time-out period before entering the non-active mode. Further methods and systems include transitioning to a non-active communication mode in response to detecting a motion of the mobile device corresponding to a user placing the device on a surface.

  • Publication number: 20150223110
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a voice-activated floor control mechanism that may be used in push-to-talk (PTT) communications. In particular, a client device may compare an ambient noise bitrate during an idle state in a PTT call to a threshold value that indicates normal background noise levels and trigger a floor request in response to the ambient noise bitrate during the idle state exceeding and remaining above the threshold value until a timer expires. Furthermore, the voice-activated floor control mechanism may adjust the timer value or other criteria used to trigger the floor request based on a conversational context associated with the PTT call, infer whether or not the floor request was intended, stream buffered audible frames in response to receiving a floor grant, and determine whether to release the floor grant, among other things.

  • Publication number: 20150215413
Abstract: Embodiment methods, communication systems and servers determine presence information of a computing device by transmitting a pre-connect probe to the computing device, receiving end-to-end communication stream quality metrics to the computing device based on the pre-connect probe, and determining whether the end-to-end stream quality metrics to the computing device exceed a threshold for each type of communication available with the computing device. The presence information of the computing device may be modified or maintained to available when the end-to-end stream quality metrics exceed the threshold, and to unavailable when the end-to-end stream quality does not exceed the threshold. The pre-connect probe may be sent in response to receiving a request for presence information for a target computing device from a requesting computing device, in which case the pre-connect probe may test the end-to-end communication path between the requesting computing device and the target computing device.

  • Publication number: 20150145944
Abstract: In an embodiment, a UE is participating in a communication session that shares a video stream with target UE(s). The UE receives user input that identifies high priority portion(s) of the video stream. The UE generates a first video feed based on the high priority portion(s) and a second video feed based at least on other portion(s) of the video stream. The first and second video feeds are exchanged with the target UE(s) on first and second links, respectively. In an example, the first link that carries the first video feed can be allocated QoS. The target UE(s) combine the first and second video feeds to reconstruct a version of the video stream, and then present the reconstructed version of the video stream.

  • Publication number: 20150110103
Abstract: In overview, the various embodiments include methods performed by a receiver device processor for implementing one or more buffer space management strategies to free up space in the buffer in response to determining that the buffer is full. In the various embodiments, the receiver device processor may analyze media packets stored in the buffer based on various criteria to identify media packets that may be discarded without significantly impacting playout sound quality to free space in the buffer for incoming packets.

  • Publication number: 20150065115
Abstract: In an embodiment, an application server receives, from a given UE, data that is configured to visually represent physical user input detected at the given UE at a first level of precision. The application server determines data presentation capabilities of a target UE and/or a performance level associated with a connection between the application server and the target UE. The application server selectively transitions the received data from the first level of precision to a second level of precision based on the determination, and transmits the selectively transitioned data to the target UE for presentation. In another embodiment, the application server receives a request to adjust display settings of the target UE from the given UE responsive to detected physical user input. The application server selectively adjusts the target UE's display settings based on the received request.
