  • Patent number: 11579080
Abstract: Described here are optical sampling architectures and methods for operation thereof. An optical sampling architecture can be capable of emitting a launch sheet light beam towards a launch region and receiving a detection sheet light beam from a detection region. The launch region can have one dimension that is elongated relative to another dimension. The detection region can also have one dimension elongated relative to another dimension such that the system can selectively accept light having one or more properties (e.g., angle of incidence, beam size, beam shape, etc.). In some examples, the elongated dimension of the detection region can be greater than the elongated dimension of the launch region. In some examples, the system can include an outcoupler array and associated components for creating a launch sheet light beam having light rays with different in-plane launch positions and/or in-plane launch angles.

  • Publication number: 20230027708
Abstract: Machines and related methods are disclosed for dispensing a rolled fabric over spaced support beams of a roof and for holding the fabric firmly in place over such beams to protect workers from falling through the gaps between the beams. The machines may include one, some, or all of several different components and features to enhance the system's overall operation and effectiveness. One aspect relates to a hub brake used to help prevent unwinding of the fabric roll in the event of a fall. Another aspect relates to a magnetic brake to help keep the machine from sliding across the support beams in the event of a fall. Another aspect relates to a guide assembly that engages a support beam with a one-directional bearing to also help keep the machine from sliding in the event of a fall.

  • Publication number: 20230015565
Abstract: Distributed radio frequency (RF) communication systems for automotive are disclosed herein. In certain embodiments, an RF communication system for an automobile includes an RF module located close to an antenna to satisfy a specified output power with small insertion loss. Additionally, the baseband processor is placed remotely from the RF module in a different area of the automobile to provide a lower temperature environment. Additionally, the RF module communicates with the baseband processor in a digital format eliminating the need for higher cost cabling (for instance, due to higher noise immunity arising from using digital signaling) and using digital transfer cabling, which can already be present in the automobile for other purposes. The RF module can include an RF front-end (RFFE) and a transceiver used for providing frequency conversion, for instance, between RF and baseband.

  • Publication number: 20230012376
Abstract: Configurations for light source modules and methods for mitigating coherent noise are disclosed. The light source modules may include multiple light source sets, each of which may include multiple light sources. The light emitted by the light sources may be different wavelengths or the same wavelength depending on whether the light source module is providing redundancy of light sources, increased power, coherent noise mitigation, and/or detector mitigation. In some examples, the light source may emit light to a coupler or a multiplexer, which may then be transmitted to one or more multiplexers. In some examples, the light source modules provide one light output and in other examples, the light source modules provide two light outputs. The light source modules may provide light with approximately zero loss and the wavelengths of light may be close enough to spectroscopically equivalent respect to a sample and far enough apart to provide coherent noise mitigation.

  • Patent number: 11552454
Abstract: Integrated laser sources emitting multi-wavelengths of light with reduced thermal transients and crosstalk and methods for operating thereof are disclosed. The integrated laser sources can include one or more heaters and a temperature control system to maintain a total thermal load of the gain segment, the heater(s), or both of a given laser to be within a range based on a predetermined target value. The system can include electrical circuitry configured to distribute current to the gain segment, the heater(s), or both. The heater(s) can be located proximate to the gain segment, and the distribution of current can be based on the relative locations. In some examples, the central laser can be heated prior to being activated. In some examples, one or more of the plurality of lasers can operate in a subthreshold operation mode when the laser is not lasing to minimize thermal perturbations to proximate lasers.

  • Patent number: 11542661
Abstract: The present invention discloses a papermaking fabric having a both machine direction (MD) and cross-machine direction (CD) oriented protuberances for molding and structuring a nascent paper web, particularly tissue paper webs. The MD oriented protuberances are spaced apart from one another in the fabric cross-machine direction and may be continuous and parallel to one another. The CD oriented protuberances are preferably discrete and comprise less than 15 percent of the web contacting surface of the fabric. In certain instances the MD oriented protuberances are formed from interwoven filaments and the CD oriented protuberances are nonwoven and may be applied to the woven fabric substrate by printing.

  • Publication number: 20220413590
Abstract: Systems and methods increase computational efficiency in machine learning accelerators. In embodiments, this is accomplished by evaluating, partitioning, and selecting computational resources to uniquely process, accumulate, and store data based on the type of the data and configuration parameters that are used to process the data. Various embodiments, take advantage of the zeroing feature of a Built-In Self-Test (BIST) controller to cause a BIST circuit to create a known state for a hardware accelerator, e.g., during a startup and/or wakeup phase, thereby, reducing data movements and transitions to save both time and energy.

  • Publication number: 20220397954
Abstract: Described are context-aware low-power systems and methods that reduce power consumption in compute circuits such as commonly available machine learning hardware accelerators that carry out a large number of arithmetic operations when performing convolution operations and related computations. Various embodiments exploit the fact that power demand for a series of computation steps and many other functions a hardware accelerator performs is highly deterministic, thus, allowing for energy needs to be anticipated or even calculated to a certain degree. Accordingly, power supply output may be optimized according to actual energy needs of compute circuits. In certain embodiments this is accomplished by proactively and dynamically adjusting power-related parameters according to high-power and low-power operations to benefit a machine learning circuit and to avoid wasting valuable power resources, especially in embedded computing systems.
