Abstract: To detect alignment and/or absence of a tape leader pin in an opening of a tape cartridge, a light source scans the opening. Detection logic analyzes the detected reflection waveform signal for deviation from a cylindrical surface reflection of the tape leader pin, if any, such as elliptical or conical, representing tilt angle misalignment of the pin. Further, both ends of the pin are scanned for difference in displacement and for difference in amplitude, displacement representing tilt in the direction of scan, and amplitude representing that one end or the other is likely to have been pulled into the cartridge. Low amplitude of both represents absence of the pin.

Abstract: A system and method for the communication of streaming data is disclosed. In an exemplary method of the present invention, a first set of data is received by an information handling system. A second set of data is received via a network wherein the second set of data is continuously streaming. During times when a sufficient amount of streaming data of the second set of data is available for communication, the second set of data is communicated to a user. Otherwise, the first set of data is communicated to the user. In one embodiment, the second set of data may include a video stream viewable by a user. In another embodiment of the present invention, the first data set and the second data set may be transmitted from a first source.

Abstract: Provided are a method, system, and article of manufacture for borrow processing in storage pools. A plurality of physical volumes are allocated to a first storage pool. A determination is made whether the first storage pool has less than a threshold number of empty physical volumes. If the first storage pool has less than the threshold number of empty physical volumes, then at least one empty physical volume is borrowed to the first storage pool from a second storage pool.

Abstract: Provided are a method, system and article of manufacture for return processing in storage pools. A plurality of physical volumes are allocated to a first storage pool. A determination is made whether the first storage pool has more than a threshold number of empty physical volumes. If the first storage pool has more than the threshold number of empty physical volumes, then at least one empty physical volume is returned to a second storage pool.

Abstract: A vacuum arc interrupter that includes a vacuum chamber assembly and a pressure chamber assembly. The vacuum chamber assembly has a first conductor coupled to a power line, a non-conductive housing and a seal cup. The pressure chamber assembly has a second conductor coupled to a ground, a pressure chamber and a bullet assembly. The pressure chamber assembly is disposed adjacent to the vacuum chamber assembly. The bullet assembly is disposed in the pressure chamber and is structured to move between a first position and a second position. The bullet assembly has a metal lance with a blade portion. The blade portion is structured to puncture the seal cup.

Abstract: A vacuum arc interrupter that includes a vacuum chamber assembly having a first conductor and a pressure chamber assembly having a second metal conductor, with an opening, and a bullet assembly. The first conductor is coupled to a power line and the second conductor is coupled to a ground. The bullet assembly has a metal lance structured to engage the opening. The lance is shaped to create an arc when engaging the opening so that the second conductor and the lance are welded together.

Abstract: A vacuum arc interrupter that includes a vacuum chamber assembly and a pressure chamber assembly. The vacuum chamber assembly includes a first, fixed contact disposed within the vacuum chamber and a second, movable contact disposed within the vacuum chamber. A rod is coupled to, and in electrical communication with, the second contact. The rod is structured to move between a first position wherein the second contact is spaced from the first contact and a second position where the first and second contacts are in electrical communication with each other. The pressure chamber assembly has a gas generation device and a cylindrical barrel defining a pressure chamber with a first end and a second end. The barrel second end has an opening. A piston assembly is disposed in the pressure chamber and coupled to the rod, which passes through the second, open end. The gas generation device is coupled to the pressure chamber assembly and in fluid communication with the barrel and the piston assembly.

Abstract: A vacuum arc interrupter bullet assembly that includes a piston body having a first side and a second side and a lance made from a conductive material having an elongated body with a first end and a second end. Abstract: A portable system that provides audio to video displays or monitors includes a bezel with integrated speakers and integrated channels that slide onto the bezel of the monitors. The bezel with integrated speakers does not increase the lateral footprint of the monitor.

Abstract: A method of removing silicone oils from waste water generated by a silicones manufacturing plant including the step of centrifuging the waste water to concentrate silicone oil contaminated solids while removing the silicone oils. The silicone oil contaminated solids are then dried in a continuously mixed sludge dryer to remove more silicone oils from the sludge to form a sludge product which comprises at least 10% water and a low silicone oil concentration.

Abstract: An improved circuit is provided that buffers the output of a DAC while improving the bandwidth and linearity of the circuit. A DAC comprises an output signal of a switched DAC circuit coupled to an inverting node of an output buffer configured as a difference amplifier, while a non-inverting node of the difference amplifier is coupled to a fixed reference potential. As a result, the difference amplifier buffers the output of the switched DAC circuit while permitting the use of N-type input stages in the amplifier, which can enhance the bandwidth capability of the circuit.

Abstract: An arrangement for sensing the position of a leader pin on a tape which is located within a cartridge shell. The arrangement senses the position of a pin in a tape cartridge through the intermediary of either electromagnetic sensors or electrostatic detection circuitry. Additionally, provided is a method for sensing the position of a pin on a tape inside a cartridge shell by employing either electrostatic detection structure or electromagnetic sensors.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method for measuring diacylglycerol acetyltransferase (DGAT) activity which utilizes a novel solvent system to reduce and/or eliminate the activities of related compounds. The present invention also discloses a method for determining whether a compound is useful for modulating DGAT biological activity. The method is capable of being utilized for mass screening of compounds as modulators of the biological activity of DGAT.

Abstract: An improved pressure vessel comprising a polymer inner bladder inside a containment envelope is provided which is well-suited for transporting hazardous materials therewithin via air transport. The improved pressure vessel features a seal placed over the closure of the containment envelope which has been found to suppress failure of the pressure vessel by creep which occurs as a result of the high internal pressure that the pressure vessel experiences at high altitudes. The seal also serves to indicate whether or not the containment envelope has been tampered with after having been sealed.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for automatically selecting an input device from a plurality of input devices coupled to an information handling system via a plurality of inputs, each corresponding to one of the plurality of inputs are disclosed. The plurality of inputs are scanned by a signal detector for the presence of a signal provided by one of the input devices to determine whether a signal is present on one of the inputs provided by the corresponding input device. When a signal is detected, the automatic video multiplexer selects the input on which a signal is detected according to a predefined hierarchy such that the information handling system receives the input signal provided by the corresponding input device. If a signal from a new input device is detected, the input corresponding to the new input device is selected, and the input device is configured to operate in conjunction with the information handling system.

Abstract: A circuit breaker includes a housing; separable contacts mounted in the housing; a latchable operating mechanism including a latch lever which when released opens the separable contacts; and an overcurrent assembly responsive to selected conditions of current flowing through the separable contacts for releasing the latch lever to trip the separable contacts open. The circuit breaker also includes an arc fault indicator; an arc fault trip actuator which when energized moves a first indicator latch for actuating the arc fault indicator and a second latch for releasing the latch lever to trip the separable contacts open; and an arc fault current assembly responsive to selected arc fault conditions of current flowing through the separable contacts for energizing the arc fault trip actuator to actuate the arc fault indicator and to trip the separable contacts open.

Abstract: Provided is a method, system, and an article of manufacture for maintaining data accessible by a host in two storage devices, wherein the data is comprised of a plurality of data sets. A determination is made of a percentage of uncopied data at the first storage device, wherein uncopied data comprises data sets to be copied from the first storage device to the second storage device. If the calculated percentage is greater than a threshold amount, a rate at which uncopied data sets are transferred from the first storage device to the second storage device is increased.

Abstract: Disclosed is a system, method, and an article of manufacture for preferentially keeping an uncopied data set in one of two storage devices in a peer-to-peer environment when data needs to be removed from the storage devices. Each time a data set is modified or newly created, flags are used to denote whether the data set needs to be copied from one storage device to the other. The preferred embodiments modify the timestamp for each uncopied data set by adding a period of time, and thus give preference to the uncopied data set when the data from the storage device is removed based on the least recently used as denoted by timestamp of each data set. Once the data set is copied, the timestamp is set back to normal by subtracting the same period of time added on when the data set was flagged as needing to be copied.

Abstract: An enclosed axle differential lock is provided which includes an axle carrier assembly within which is a bearing having a bearing cap. A differential housing rotates, supported by the bearing, with a pinion gear and a side gear each rotating in the differential housing and meshing together. An axle is driven by the side gear. A clutch may be used to lock the differential housing and the axle together. The clutch includes a first clutch element fixed to the differential housing and a second clutch element splined on the axle and axially movable thereon, the second clutch element having a first disengaged position in which the first clutch element and the second clutch element are substantially disconnected, and a second engaged position in which the first clutch element and the second clutch element are substantially drivingly connected. An actuator is integrally disposed in the bearing cap which urges the second clutch element from the first disengaged position to the second engaged position.
