Patent number: 11464466Abstract: Teeth are screened for periodontal disease using digitized images manipulated and annotated on a processor. A digitized radiographic image of a tooth shows locations of a bone boundary and a cemento-enamel junction (CEJ) of the tooth. The digitized radiographic image is marked on the processor with a location on the bone boundary and with a pair of CEJ points at opposite ends of the CEJ visible in the radiograph. A ratio between (a) a distance between the bone boundary location and the adjacent CEJ point as numerator and (b) a distance between the CEJ points as denominator is calculated on the processor and compared with a threshold ratio-value for a corresponding tooth from a database accessible by the processor. A calculated ratio-value which is greater than the database threshold ratio-value is indicative of periodontal disease in the tooth. The probability of the correct diagnostic decision is determined by the relative magnitude of the calculated ratio-value and the threshold ratio-value.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 2019Date of Patent: October 11, 2022Assignee: NovoDynamics, Inc.Inventors: Mark Brooks, David Ei, Sean McMillan, David Rock, Steven Schlosser

Publication number: 20210012426Abstract: A method is performed on a processor for detecting duplication anomalies in a set of patient dental insurance records submitted as part of a dental insurance claim. At least one hash code is generated for at least some of the patient dental insurance record documents. A Hamming Distance is calculated by comparing the hash code(s) of recently submitted patient dental insurance record documents against a database which includes hash codes generated from previous dental insurance claims. Those dental insurance forms are flagged for further human review if the calculated Hamming Distance between the compared hash codes is less than a threshold amount.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 18, 2020Publication date: January 14, 2021Applicant: NovoDynamics, Inc.Inventors: Mark Brooks, Sean McMillan, David Rock, Steven Schlosser

Publication number: 20150013635Abstract: An engine combustion system includes a power cylinder and a gear assembly, the piston having respective intake and exhaust valves. The power cylinder includes a connecting rod pivotally attached to a bottom of the piston and extends vertically downwardly in vertical alignment with a gear assembly. A movable rack gear is coupled to the connecting rod and in communication with a rotatably mounted central gear. When an air/fuel mixture is ignited within the power cylinder fuel chamber, the connecting rod is urged downward causing linear movement of the rack gear in operative communication with the rotatably mounted central gear such that the power generated thereby is translated to a vehicle transmission or power train without angular inefficiency of a traditional crankshaft system.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 11, 2014Publication date: January 15, 2015Inventor: Mark Brooks

Publication number: 20080098291Abstract: The present invention is directed to systems and methods of creating and deploying electronic forms for collecting information from a user using a browser, where the browser may be one of a plurality of browser platforms. Characteristics of forms are entered by a human designer using a form designer by using drag-and-drop operations, and stored in XML template files. The form may be previewed by the designer. When a user on the Internet (or an intranet) requests a form by a browser, the characteristics of the browser are sensed and a form appropriate for the browser is deployed to the browser by a form server. Information is then captured from the user. The form may also be saved or printed.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 8, 2007Publication date: April 24, 2008Applicant: Adobe Systems IncorporatedInventors: George Bradley, Jean Brousseau, Kevin Matassa, Ernest Foster, Andrew Neilson, Mark Leyden, Keith McLellan, Mark Brooks, Zbigniew Rachniowski, Anthony Rumsey, Nasif Dawd

Patent number: 6854585Abstract: A directional small part transporter and sorter simultaneously imparts upon a part-carrying platen reciprocating movements along one or two horizontal axis perpendicular to each other and a third vertical axis. A stack of slidingly coupled carriages are each independently driven by a stepping motor. Each motor is coupled to a carriage by means of a mechanism that translates the rotation of the motor into a linear translation of the coupled carriage by means of a worm screw or transmission belt. An electronic module controlled by a data processor allows for adjustment of the duration, amplitude, frequency and phase relationship of the three periodical movements of the platen. A part reservoir along the platen can be either raised to deliver parts onto the platen or lowered below the platen ledge to receive parts off the platen. The transporter and sorter may be used in connection with various electronic component manufacturing processes.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 2002Date of Patent: February 15, 2005Inventors: David Brooks, Mark Brooks
