  • Patent number: 7946017
Abstract: A temporary checking device is provided that works in conjunction with elements of a vehicle hinge that remain in the vehicle's final configuration. The hinge includes a hinge pin rotatably connecting a door hinge bracket to a pillar hinge bracket. The checking device includes a spring portion that is disposed between the door hinge bracket and the pillar hinge bracket. The spring portion is compressed during movement of the door hinge bracket relative to the pillar hinge bracket from either of two rest positions. The spring portion urges the vehicle door affixed thereto back into one of the rest positions, thus allowing manufacturing operations such as painting, etc., to be performed on the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20110024618
Abstract: An ion-ion reaction cell is provided comprising a plurality of electrodes (1) forming an ion guide (2). A transient DC voltage wave is applied to the electrodes (2) in order to load reagent anions into the ion guide (2). Analyte cations are then subsequently transmitted through the ion-ion reaction cell by a subsequent transient DC voltage wave. Ion are arranged to undergo ion-ion reactions within the reaction cell and the resulting fragment ions which are formed within the reaction cell are then subsequently translated out of the reaction cell by means of a transient DC voltage wave.

  • Publication number: 20100072360
Abstract: A mass spectrometer is disclosed comprising an Electron Transfer Dissociation cell (1). Positive analyte ions are fragmented into fragment ions upon colliding with singly charged negative reagent ions with the cell (1). The cell comprises a plurality of ring electrodes (1) which form a spherical trapping volume. Ions experience negligible RF heating over the majority. of the trapping volume which enables the kinetic energy of the analyte and reagent ions to be reduced to just above thermal temperatures. An Electron Transfer Dissociation cell (1) having an enhanced sensitivity is thereby provided. Fragment ions created within the cell (1) may be cooled and may be transmitted onwardly to an orthogonal acceleration Time of Flight mass analyser enabling a significant improvement in the resolution of the mass analyser to be obtained.

  • Publication number: 20100065737
Abstract: A mass spectrometer is disclosed comprising a mass selective ion trap or mass analyser (4) arranged upstream of an ion guide (6). Ions are scanned out of the mass selective ion trap or mass analyser (4) and are received in one or more axial potential wells created or formed within the ion guide (6). One or more transient DC voltages or potentials are preferably applied to the ion guide (6) in order to create a plurality of axial potential wells which are translated along the length of the ion guide (6). Ions are released in packets from the exit of the ion guide (6) and are orthogonally accelerated into a drift or flight region of an orthogonal acceleration Time of Flight mass analyser (13) with a relatively high duty cycle.

  • Publication number: 20100001180
Abstract: A Time of Flight mass analyser is disclosed comprising an ion detector comprising an Analogue to Digital Converter. Output signals from the ion detector are digitised and the arrival times and intensity values relating to ion arrival events are determined.
