  • Publication number: 20080048886
Abstract: A passenger vehicle safety system is provided which comprises a violation system, a warning system or an inside system. The violation system collects evidence of traffic violation occurring in a vicinity of a passenger vehicle. The warning system provides a warning to individuals outside and in the vicinity of the passenger vehicle. The intra-vehicle system collects images of persons inside, or in the vicinity of, the passenger vehicle, so as to allow the passenger vehicle's driver or one or more individuals located at a remote location, some distance from the passenger, to monitor activity in and around the passenger vehicle. Information captured by the inside system can be viewed in real time, as the information is being collected, or some time later, or both.

  • Patent number: 7309861
Abstract: A mass spectrometer is disclosed comprising a guide wire ion guide 1 having an outer cylindrical electrode 2 and an inner guide wire electrode 3. AC and DC potential differences are maintained between the outer electrode 2 and the inner electrode 3 so that ions are radially confined within the ion guide 1 in an annular potential well. The outer electrode 2 may be segmented and axial potential wells created along the length of the ion guide 1 may be translated along the length of the ion guide 1 by applying additional transient DC potentials to the segments forming the outer electrode 2.

  • Publication number: 20070282617
Abstract: A system and method of determining whether fraudulent accounting activity may have taken place in a business. First, financial data regarding the business is received. A determination is then made as to whether any anomalies are present in the financial data. Such anomalies are referred to herein as “red flags”. Any given red flag may be a manifestation of one or more particular fraud tactics. Conversely, for any particular fraud tactic, a number of associated red flags may be present. For each of a plurality of fraud tactics, the number of red flags associated with the tactic is determined. For each fraud tactic having an associated red flag, a determination is made as to whether the tactic took place in view of the number of red flags that are associated with the tactic. A determination is then made as to whether fraudulent accounting has occurred, based on the number of tactics determined to have taken place. Finally, an indication as to an inference of fraud is generated.

  • Patent number: 7297960
Abstract: A mass filter is disclosed comprising an orthogonal acceleration electrode 9. Ions entering the mass filter are orthogonally accelerated by the orthogonal acceleration electrode 9 in a primary acceleration region 2 and enter a flight region 3. The ions 6,7,8 are then reflected by a reflectron 4 and are directed towards an exit region of the mass filter. Ions having a desired mass to charge ratio are arranged to arrive in the primary acceleration region 2 at a time when a voltage pulse applied to the orthogonal acceleration electrode 9 falls from a maximum to zero. Ions having a desired mass to charge ratio are orthogonally decelerated such that they have a zero component of velocity in the orthogonal direction. Accordingly, ions having a desired mass to charge ratio exit the mass filter in an axial direction.

  • Publication number: 20070251171
Abstract: Embodiments of the present application relate to systems, devices, and methods for collecting falling mortar. Generally, these systems and methods comprise a masonry wall and one or more mortar stoppers. A mortar stopper may comprise a longitudinally extending surface comprising an indicator that defines an inserting portion and a mortar collecting portion, both of which being integral to the mortar stopper. The inserting portion may be inserted into mortar spaces along a backside of the wall such that the mortar collecting portion extends from the backside of the wall. Thereby, the mortar collecting portion collects mortar falling from the mortar spaces of the backside of the wall. The indicator may be positioned along the longitudinally extending surface such that the indicator indicates an appropriate length of insertion of the inserting portion into the wall sufficient for the mortar stopper to support the mortar collecting portion and the falling mortar collected by the mortar collecting portion.

  • Publication number: 20070167986
Abstract: A system and method for post-processing of sensing data generated by a medical device that includes transmitting a plurality of stored sensing data generated by a medical device to an access device, the stored sensing data including sensed atrial events and sensed ventricular events. The access device determines, in response to the transmitted data, instances where the medical device identified a cardiac event being detected in response to the sensing data, and verifies, in response to the transmitted data, whether the determined instances should have been identified by the medical device as a cardiac event being detected.

  • Patent number: 7241478
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus and process for producing a thin organic film on a substrate using an ultrasonic nozzle to produce a cloud of micro-droplets in a vacuum chamber. The micro-droplets move turbulently within the vacuum chamber, isotropically impacting and adhering to the surface of the substrate. The resulting product has a smooth, continuous, conformal, and uniform organic thin film, when the critical process parameters of micro-droplet size, shot size, vacuum chamber pressure, and timing are well-controlled, and defects such as “orange peel” effect and webbing are avoided. The apparatus includes an improved ultrasonic nozzle assembly that comprises vacuum sealing and a separate, independent passageway for introducing a directed purging gas.
