  • Publication number: 20190139014
Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods for conducting payment transactions are disclosed. In exemplary embodiments, a consumer may wish to add a tip or gratuity when paying for a good or service, such as a meal at a restaurant. Exemplary systems may generate an alert or other form of message based on the transaction, where the alert or message may include a suggested amount for a tip and/or provide the consumer with information that may be used to determine an amount for the tip. In some embodiments, the systems, apparatuses, and methods may automatically generate an estimated amount for the tip based on previously established user preferences, with the estimated amount being added to the underlying cost of the good or service when authorization is sought for the transaction.

  • Patent number: 10285008
Abstract: Selection of offers, locations or merchants based on their distances from a portion of a user's route and their affinity for the user is disclosed. A route employed by a user for travelling to a destination is obtained and segmented at identified vertices. Locations that are proximate to the route segments are determined. The proximate locations are further analyzed to obtain their specific distances from a selected portion such as the user's origin or destination or any route segment. Location based services are associated with those proximate locations that are closest to the selected portion on the user's route or those with the better utility.

  • Publication number: 20190130400
Abstract: A first embodiment of the present invention relates to systems and methods for determining a priority for a set of alert triggers and performing additional processing based on the determined priority. In some embodiments, additional processing may include generating and sending of alert messages. In other embodiments, additional processing may further include determining that the generating and sending of alert messages are to be delayed until a later time. In yet other embodiments, additional processing may include determining that no alert message is to be generated and sent. A second embodiment of the present invention relates to systems and methods for dynamically selecting a delivery channel and generating an alert message for the selected delivery channel. In some embodiments, the alert message may be formatted based on the selected delivery channel. According to one embodiment, the alert message may be generated based on a compact protocol format.

  • Patent number: 10275582
Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling access to an online account are described. An access control message including an action to be performed on an online account can be sent from a mobile device to a server. The server may identify the mobile device based on identifying information in the access control message. Upon identifying the mobile device, the server may determine whether the user has authority to initiate the action to be performed on the online account. Upon determining that a user of the mobile device does have authority to initiate the indicated action, the action indicated in the access control message may be taken with respect to the online account.

  • Patent number: 10262308
Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatus for handling and/or authorizing payment requests by a consumer for a transaction are provided. Challenge questions may be presented from the non-merchant to the consumer after receiving the payment information, thereby allowing a judicious determination of when to ask such challenge questions and allowing complex and probative questions. The time limit for such challenge questions may advantageously be unconstrained, while still preserving security. Also, a risk analysis may be started prior to the consumer submitting payment information, thus allowing an efficient and complex risk analysis. Information about an access device used by the consumer may be obtained at the non-merchant from the access device with code sent to the access device from the merchant, and the device information may be used in the risk analysis.

  • Patent number: 10255537
Abstract: In one embodiment, the present invention provides a method and communication device with an emulated mag stripe capability. Information is transmitted in the mag stripe data indicating that the communication device has chip capability as well. This information is used by a server on the back-end (acquirer, issuer, network) to take advantage of that chip capability. For example, additional fields can be used for security measures and communication over the telecommunications network with the device can be performed to provide a more secure communication with a terminal. In one embodiment, the additional information is provided in the service code, using a unique 3 digit code other than 2xx.

  • Publication number: 20190034921
Abstract: The SNAP MOBILE PAYMENT APPARATUSES, METHODS AND SYSTEMS (“SNAP”) transform real-time-generated merchant-product Quick Response codes via SNAP components into virtual wallet card-based transaction purchase notifications. In one embodiment, the SNAP obtains a snapshot of a QR code presented on a display screen of a point-of-sale device from a mobile device. The SNAP decodes the QR code to obtain product information included in a checkout request of the user, and merchant information for processing a user purchase transaction with a merchant providing the QR code. The SNAP accesses a user virtual wallet to obtain user account information to process the user purchase transaction with the merchant. Using the product information, merchant information and user account information, the SNAP generates a card authorization request, and which the SNAP provides to a payment network for transaction processing. Also, the SNAP obtains a purchase receipt confirming processing of the user purchase transaction.
