  • Patent number: 8510005
Abstract: A method for controlling the torque phase of a clutch-to-clutch power downshift in a vehicle includes determining, during a near-sync boost (NSB) state of the power downshift, a synchronization speed. The method includes estimating, via a controller, a feed-forward clutch pressure that holds a speed of the turbine at the synchronous speed, and then ramping a clutch pressure command to the oncoming clutch to the calculated feed-forward clutch pressure. Closed-loop proportional-integral-derivative (PID) control is initiated over the clutch pressure command during the NSB phase in response to a predetermined PID activation event. A vehicle includes an engine, transmission, torque converter, and a controller. The controller has a processor and memory on which instructions embodying the above method are recorded. Execution of the instructions by the processor causes the controller to execute the method.

  • Patent number: 8490107
Abstract: An integrated circuit 2 includes a plurality of transaction sources 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20 communicating via a ring-based interconnect 30 with shared caches 22, 24 each having an associated POC/POS 30, 34 and serving as a request servicing circuit. The request servicing circuits have a set of processing resources 36 that may be allocated to different transactions. These processing resources may be allocated either dynamically or statically. Static allocation can be made in dependence upon a selection algorithm. This selection algorithm may use a quality of service value/priority level as one of its input variables. A starvation ratio may also be defined such that lower priority levels are forced to be selected if they are starved of allocation for too long. A programmable mapping may be made between quality of service values and priority levels. The maximum number of processing resources allocated to each priority level may also be programmed.

  • Patent number: 8489612
Abstract: To identify similar files in an environment having multiple client computers, a first client computer receives, from a coordinator computer, a request to find files located at the first client computer that are similar to at least one comparison file, wherein the request has also been sent to other client computers by the coordinator computer to request that the other client computers also find files that are similar to the at least one comparison file. In response to the request, the first client computer compares signatures of the files located at the first client computer with a signature of the at least one comparison file to identify at least a subset of the files located at the first client computer that are similar to the at least one comparison file according to a comparison metric. The first client computer sends, to the coordinator computer, a response relating to the comparing.
