  • Publication number: 20110052331
Abstract: A piling base apparatus, method for making same, a corresponding foundation pile system, and process for installation, the piling base apparatus having a generally solid body, a top end surface, a bottom end surface, and a side surface extending between the top end surface and the bottom end surface. The surface area of the bottom end surface is less than the surface area of the top end surface. At least one ridge extends generally about the side surface in a generally downward direction from the top end surface to the bottom end surface. Each ridge has an offset surface extending generally outward from the surface of the side surface. An end of a strand is fixed to the piling base apparatus, the strand extending outwardly from the top end surface.

  • Patent number: 7267510
Abstract: A foundation pile or pile segment is described that provides support for a structure such as a building foundation. The pile includes a generally solid body having a top end wall, a bottom end wall adapted for providing end load bearing capacity, and all around sidewalls. The sidewalls extend between the top end wall and the bottom end wall and has at least a pair of oppositely disposed spiral ridges that extend generally about the surface of the sidewalls. Further, each spiral ridge extends in a generally spiral direction from the top end wall to the bottom end wall. The spiral ridges provide an offset surface that extends generally outward from the surface of the sidewalls. The offset surfaces provide additional load bearing capacity to the foundation pile.

  • Publication number: 20060150551
Abstract: The invention relates to a system, apparatus and method for controlling and/or expelling water from basements or other subterranean rooms. More particularly, the invention relates to a water drainage device that includes a multiple flow channels to allow water to bypass a clogged area of a flow channel. Preferably, one the flow channels is filtered to impede the build of particulate matter and sediment in the channel.

  • Patent number: 6763636
Abstract: An apparatus and a method are provided for lifting and leveling an existing building. At least a first non-cylindrical support section having a substantially rectangular shape and a second support section are coupled together by a fastening device that provides the apparatus with stability once the apparatus has been installed. A jack is used to raise the foundation of the existing building to a desired height. The apparatus is attached to the foundation of the building from underneath the building or from a location adjacent a side of the building. The non-cylindrical support section has low bearing and high friction characteristics. The low bearing characteristics enable the apparatus to be driven further into the earth than cylindrical pilings that are commonly used to lift and level existing buildings. The high friction characteristics assist in maintaining the stability of the apparatus once it has been installed.

  • Patent number: 6705053
Abstract: An apparatus and a method are provided for lifting and leveling an existing building from a position underneath the existing building. At least a first non-cylindrical support section having a substantially rectangular shape and first and second ends is located within the earth at a position underneath the existing building. A cap support section is placed in contact with the second end of the first non-cylindrical support section. A jack is disposed on the upper side of the cap support section and raised until the foundation of the existing building has been lifted to a desired height.

At least a first non-cylindrical support section having a substantially rectangular shape and first and second ends is located within the earth at a position underneath the existing building. A vertically-adjustable cap is placed in contact with the second end of the first non-cylindrical support section. A jack is disposed on an upper surface of a lower side of the cap and raised until an upper surface of an upper side of the cap is exerting pressure against the foundation of the existing building. The jack is then raised, thereby raising the cap, until the foundation has been raised to a desired height. The cap is the locked so that it will not move in the vertical directions and the jack is lowered and removed. If the building subsequently needs to be re-leveled, raised or lowered, the cap can be unlocked and vertically adjusted to an appropriate height.

  • Publication number: 20020124488
Abstract: An apparatus and a method are provided for lifting and leveling an existing building from a position adjacent a side of the existing building. One or more non-cylindrical support sections having a substantially rectangular shapes and first and second ends are driven into the earth at a position adjacent a side of the existing building. A jack is used to lift the existing building to a desired height. The foundation of the building is then bracketed to the uppermost non-cylindrical support section to maintain the building at the new level.
