  • Publication number: 20030225572
Abstract: An annotation is recorded on to an electronic storage medium for inclusion within a storage device which is selectively engageable with an arbitrary physical object. This engagement can be provided by a number of conventional means: a spring loaded clip (particularly suitable for engagement with objects), a weakly adhesive surface, or a magnetic element. The annotation may then be read from the sound storage device while it remains engaged with such an arbitrary object using an appropriate further device. This arrangement is particularly appropriate for annotation of documents with sound, and thus allows sound passages to be used in a very versatile fashion, particularly for annotation and messaging.

  • Patent number: 6563563
Abstract: A printer 802 is adapted to produce a printed image with an associated sound passage stored on an electronic storage device. The printer 802 comprises an information input for receiving information to define a visual image and also information defining a passage of sound. The printer has a printer element 808 for printing the first information as a printed image 804, but also has a writing element 807 for writing the sound information into an electronic storage device 803 adapted for attachment to the printed image. An appropriate mechanism 805 for attaching the electronic storage device to the printer image is provided at the printer.

  • Publication number: 20030081014
Abstract: Computer apparatus for assisting the reading of a document by displaying upon it a chronologic sequence of pointing gestures, comprises a camera and data processor for imaging the document and for tracking the movement of a pointer, such as a person's finger, over the document to associate that movement with the imaged document as the said sequence, and a computer with a projector for displaying the sequence in association with a reproduction of the same document, which may be printed paper or an on-screen image, normally at a remote location for conferencing.

  • Publication number: 20030058275
Abstract: There is disclosed a computer apparatus for causing display and manipulation of a pictorial image synchronously with remote computer apparatus. The apparatus comprises computer instructions executable by the apparatus to generate, on a display screen, a graphical user interface (GUI). The GUI has: a) an image display region; b) at least one manipulation control element, activatable by a user input device, for manipulating a displayed image; and c) at least one symbol associated with at least one stored image file. The symbol is activatable by a user input device so as to cause (i) display of a corresponding image in the image display region and (ii) output of a display signal. The display signal is adapted to cause remotely executing computer instructions to process a remotely stored associated image file so as to display a corresponding image.

  • Patent number: 5732745
Abstract: A thermoplastic tube for in-field storage or packaging of bales of agricultural products is disclosed. The tube combines high puncture resistance with an exceptional stretchability, elasticity and good slip properties. The circumference of the tube can be expanded by at least 15% without tearing when stretched in the transverse direction. The tube also shows no substantial permanent deformation 2 hours after being so stretched for a period of time not exceeding 30 minutes and released. Before feeding a bale, the tube is stretched radially to facilitate the insertion and accommodate bales larger than original diameter of the tube. When regaining the original size, the tube wraps up tightly the bales reducing the amount of air trapped in the tube. Since the tube can be enlarged to a variable extent, it may accommodate bales of different shapes and sizes.
