  • Publication number: 20190064232
Abstract: Various embodiments described in this disclosure pertain to methods and systems for detecting and evaluating oscillations in an electrical power grid. The oscillations can include one or more oscillatory conditions, which can occur in one or more of five predefined frequency bands. Each of the five predefined frequency bands is categorized at least in part, by oscillations that are originated by uniquely different sources. In one embodiment, an oscillation detector can be used to detect the oscillatory condition and determine a magnitude characteristic, a phase characteristic, and/or a damping characteristic of at least one oscillation frequency that contributes to the oscillatory condition.

  • Patent number: 10164378
Abstract: To address the issue of radio frequency interference with high-speed connectors, a communication port connector for use in a computing device is provided. The communication port connector may include a shell that defines a void that is configured to receive an electrical plug. Port-side electrical contacts in the shell may be configured to make electrical connections with plug-side electrical contacts. One or more double leaf spring fingers may be formed in a side of the shell, with each double leaf spring finger including a first spring finger coupled to a second spring finger. The first spring finger may be configured to contact the electrical plug, and the second spring finger may be configured to contact a chassis of the computing device, thereby creating a ground path to ground the electrical plug to the primary ground plane of the device when it is inserted into the communication port connector.

  • Patent number: 10154088
Abstract: In a network of mobile agents, data integrity can be improved by providing an agent server that can migrate between devices operating in the region of interest (ROI). The agent server distributes agent clients onto devices in the ROI and provides agent server services to the agent clients, including receiving and storing data from the agents. When the agent server device is to leave the ROI, the agent server can migrate to any device executing an agent client and continue to provide the agent server services, including data collection and aggregation, from the device to which the agent server has migrated.

  • Patent number: 10149274
Abstract: In order to determine the location of wireless network devices without inherent location capabilities, a wireless network device such as an access point can receive geolocation information from transient data sources such as mobile devices requiring network access from the access point. The access point stores geolocation records including location coordinates received from the transient data sources. The geolocation records can be processed to determine the position and movement of the access point. The geolocation records and/or location information can be passed to other transient clients that do not have inherent location capability.

  • Patent number: 10031398
Abstract: There is presented a spectroscopic apparatus and method wherein an input light source that inputs pump light to a photon pair source. The photon pair source converts pump photons into signal and idler photon pairs. The photon pair source is, in some of examples described herein, tuneable so that the wavelength of the signal and idler photons can be changed by application of a tuning means. At least one of the signal and idler photons is made incident upon a medium under test. A heralding detection apparatus is used to detect any signal and idler photons output from the spectroscopy apparatus, wherein at least one of the photons of the pair has interacted with or been operated upon by the medium under test.
