  • Publication number: 20130294879
Abstract: The present application relates to techniques and equipment to stack mailpieces for sweeping. The mailpieces are manufactured on a mail processing machine such as, but not limited to an inserter or wrapper. More particularly, there is provided an on-edge conveyor where components have been ergonomically positioned to permit the filling of a mail tray in an efficient manner with minimal lifting of weight. A quantity of mailpieces that have already been offset can be pulled over the rolled/rounded edge of the conveyor into an awaiting mail tray supported on a roller conveyor. The operator is then able push the full tray to the side, load another empty tray, and repeat the process.

  • Patent number: 8522020
Abstract: In a system of mobile agents operating in a region of interest, it may be necessary to validate the position of an untrusted device prior to allowing the untrusted device to perform agent functions within the region of interest. Trusted mobile agents within the region of interest may activate wireless access points with randomly generated identifiers. The untrusted device may be instructed to provide a list of identifiers of visible wireless access points to confirm that the untrusted device is within the ROI.

  • Patent number: 8499544
Abstract: A turbogenerator having a gas turbine engine powering generator and a cooling system and an annular heat exchanger powered by a fan disposed across an outer fan duct of the engine. Fan variable inlet and outlet guide vanes may be used to vary power between the fan and the generator which are drivenly connected to a low pressure turbine. Inner and outer portions separated by a rotating shroud of the fan are disposed in annular inner and outer fan ducts respectively. A directed energy weapon may be powered by the generator and cooled by the cooling system. A refrigeration apparatus may be operably disposed between the annular heat exchanger and the directed energy weapon for cooling the directed energy weapon and conditioning power electronics for the weapon. The refrigeration apparatus may include a vapor cycle cooling system and a cold storage containing a phase change material.

  • Publication number: 20130197705
Abstract: A method of damping power system oscillations include obtaining a time synchronized damping control signal from a remote location and determining a communication time delay in receiving the time synchronized damping control signal from the remote location. The time synchronized damping control signal is then modified based on a phase compensation factor and an amplitude compensation factor determined from the time delay. Finally, a damping signal is generated based on the modified time synchronized damping control signal.

  • Patent number: 8494544
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed that calculate an area-of-interest based on a user request for location specific data. The operations may include transmitting initial location data of the mobile terminal and user initiated gesture data to a server. The server may then perform initiating a request to receive the requested location data, and calculating a geographical area-of-interest based on the initial location data and the user initiated gesture data. The location specific data related to the area-of-interest may then be retrieved and transmitted to the mobile terminal. The area-of-interest may be defined based on the initial position of the mobile terminal and information provided by a gesture made by the user of the mobile terminal.

  • Publication number: 20120286620
Abstract: Provided is a flexible and self-supporting insulating film including a base polymer layer and a partially cured poly(amide)imide layer applied to the base polymer layer. The composite insulating film may be used as slot liner to provide insulation to the components of the electric motor. The partially cured poly(amide)imide layer of the composite insulation film maybe further cured by the heat generated by the operation of the electric motor.

  • Publication number: 20120252482
Abstract: In order to determine the location of wireless network devices without inherent location capabilities, a wireless network device such as an access point can receive geolocation information from transient data sources such as mobile devices requiring network access from the access point. The access point stores geolocation records including location coordinates received from the transient data sources. The geolocation records can be processed to determine the position and movement of the access point. The geolocation records and/or location information can be passed to other transient clients that do not have inherent location capability.

  • Publication number: 20120254283
Abstract: Mobile agents can be deployed to mobile devices within specific regions of interest to achieve specific goals in respect of events occurring in the region of interest. In order to ensure that the agent can persist within the region of interest until the agent goals are achieved, the agent is configured to locate other devices within the region of interest and to propagate itself, by moving or copying itself, to those other devices. The region of interest may be a mobile and/or dynamic region of interest defined by, for example, a proximity to one or more mobile wireless access points or by an overlapping peer-to-peer communication range of a plurality of mobile devices that are configured to support the agent.

  • Patent number: 8245933
Abstract: Systems, methods, and an article of manufacture for printing a new postal authority code on a mail piece prepared by and received from an inserter or wrapper. A barcode post-processing system receives a mail piece from an inserter and communicates with the image capture equipment. The barcode post-processing system during performs various functions. The functions can include receiving legacy address block information from the mail piece from the image capture equipment, processing the captured legacy address block information to determine one or more missing parameters of the new postal authority code to create processed data, and supplementing the captured legacy address block information data with the one or more missing parameters of the new postal authority code received from one or more data source.

  • Publication number: 20120006866
Abstract: Hockey bag meets shoe-fitting stool. This invention is an equipment bag that converts to a stool with a ramped platform intended to aid an adult in the process of tying a child's skates. No assembly is required, the exterior bag material is built around the interior stool and ramped platform. The adult sitting on the stool facing the child can comfortably help put on and tie the child's skates. This device is intended to work for adults tying children's skates' the way a shoe salesman aids in tying a customer's shoes. This is a one-unit device; all parts are contained in the skeleton of the bag.

  • Publication number: 20110136510
Abstract: Mobile agents can be deployed to location aware mobile devices within specific regions of interest to achieve specific goals in respect of events occurring in the region of interest. In order to ensure that the agent can persist within the region of interest until the agent goals are achieved, the agent is configured to locate other devices within the region of interest and to propagate itself, by moving or copying itself, to those other devices. When a device hosting the agent exits the region of interest, the agent is terminated, thereby freeing device resources.

  • Publication number: 20110137972
Abstract: In a network of mobile agents, data integrity can be improved by providing an agent server that can migrate between devices operating in the region of interest (ROI). The agent server distributes agent clients onto devices in the ROI and provides agent server services to the agent clients, including receiving and storing data from the agents. When the agent server device is to leave the ROI, the agent server can migrate to any device executing an agent client and continue to provide the agent server services, including data collection and aggregation, from the device to which the agent server has migrated.

  • Publication number: 20110093199
Abstract: A method for determining the measurement precision of a formation evaluation tool in a borehole comprises: a) conveying the formation evaluation tool into the borehole, b) using the formation evaluation tool to make measurements, and c) analyzing the measurements using mean squared difference stability statistics to generate an output indicative of measurement precision. Step c) may comprise using an Allan variance to assess the measurements taken in step b). The method may further include deriving an optimum logging speed from the analysis performed in step c), which may occur at the lowest value of the Allan variance.
