  • Patent number: 7480516
Abstract: A cellular wireless communication system includes base transceiver stations and mobile stations that operate with a closed loop power control. The mobile tracking is performed based on the lock in and lock out thresholds by the base transceiver stations. A forward link power control bit is decoded from the reverse channel. An additional threshold is introduced for determining at the base transceiver station whether the decoded forward link power control bit is valid or invalid. The finger energies obtained from a finger processor formed by a RAKE receiver of the base transceiver station are compared to the additional validation threshold. The additional validation threshold is independent of the tracking thresholds and usually greater than them. The validation performance may not be affected by low signal/noise. The forward link traffic channel gain of the base transceiver station is controlled in response to the invalidity of the decoded forward power control bit.

  • Patent number: 7448039
Abstract: A method and system for logging messages in a test environment. Devices that display, output, store, or transmit log messages are instantiated as objects to log messages sent from a testing application. The testing application requests that a message be logged by a logger. The logger passes a formatted log message to a publisher. The publisher packages the log message in a trace object which is then published to each device that has requested messages of a type including the log message. The testing application need not be recompiled to cause log messages to be logged in a different manner.

  • Patent number: 7430431
Abstract: Operation commences with the cellular network infrastructure setting up a forward link and a reverse link with a cellular mobile station. The cellular network infrastructure transmits signals to the cellular mobile station on the forward link and receives signals from the cellular mobile station on the reverse link. The cellular network infrastructure monitors the quality of the reverse link. When the reverse link quality level meets a reverse link lost criteria, the cellular network infrastructure enters reverse link recovery mode of operation in which the transmit power of the forward link is increased in an attempt to recover the reverse link. During the reverse link recovery mode of operation, the cellular network infrastructure may determine that the reverse link quality meets a reverse link recovered criteria.

  • Publication number: 20080191393
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a hollow parison includes forming a parison having a wail of multiple layers of polymer including a barrier layer, and open ends, each end having an end surface extending around the periphery of the respective end. A mold is formed having a first section and a second section facing the first section, the mold forming a cavity between the two mold sections when the mold is closed, and defining surfaces to which the parison conforms when the mold is closed. The mold sections are closed on the parison such that in the mold at each end of the parison a first portion of each end surface is compressed against a second portion of the respective end surface. The mold sections are further closed on the parison such the barrier layer of the first portion and second portion of the end surface at each parison end are joined and welded mutually along a seal line. Then the mold is opened and a hollow, formed tank is removed from the mold.

  • Publication number: 20080190943
Abstract: A method for securing a component to a tank includes forming the tank having a wall of multiple layers of polymer material with an opening in the wall, outer layers of polymer, and an inner layer of polymer having an inner surface whose color is dark relative to a natural color of the outer layers. The component is formed with a mounting surface of polymer. The tube wall opening is used to install the component in the tank such that the mounting surface contacts the inner surface. Energy is transmitted onto an area of a surface of the tank wall where the mounting surface contacts the inner surface. The transmitted energy is use to produce a weld between the mounting surface and the tank wall.

  • Publication number: 20080109663
Abstract: A system and process enable a device to adjust the duration of various power modes based on usage of the device. The process includes operating a device at a fully operational power level, counting a first wait time, modifying a first wait time modifier in response to detection of image generating device use prior to expiration of the first wait time, and reducing power consumption from the fully operational level to a low power level in response to expiration of the first wait time.

  • Publication number: 20070234733
Abstract: A small gas turbine engine for use in an UAV such as a cruise missile, the gas turbine having a combustor forming a primary burn zone and a secondary burn zone, and in which fuel is injected into both the primary and the secondary burn zones by either a rotary cup injector or a plurality of fuel injector nozzles. The secondary burn zone with separate fuel injection allows for the diameter of the engine to be reduced in size but still allow for adequate power and efficiency to be reached for powering the vehicle. Air flow from the compressor is used to cool the combustor walls before being injected into the combustor, and to pass through and cool the guide nozzles and a main bearing located near the hot section of the combustor prior to being introduced into the combustor.

  • Publication number: 20070142734
Abstract: A system and method for triggering an external device in response to an electrocardiogram signal. In one embodiment the method includes determining a peak in the electrocardiogram signal, determining if the electrocardiogram signal is rising or falling at the peak in the signal and triggering a device in response to the rising or falling peak. In one embodiment of the invention an external trigger signal is produced only a rising peak is detected. In one embodiment, the system includes a microprocessor, a peak detector and a trigger circuit. The trigger circuit outputs a trigger signal to an external device when signaled by the peak detector and not inhibited by a signal from the microprocessor.

  • Publication number: 20070127429
Abstract: A self coordinated machine network is established by two or more machines in proximity with each other via a wired or wireless network infrastructure. The machines are configured to establish an ad hoc network between themselves for sharing information related to their common applications. New machines that come into proximity of the network infrastructure are configured to join an existing ad hoc network. Machines that power down or are removed from proximity of the network infrastructure are eliminated from the ad hoc network. Communications between the constituent machines of the ad hoc network allow the machines to self coordinate the network and redundantly store information pertaining to the common and disparate applications of the various machines that comprise the self coordinated machine network.

  • Patent number: 7194866
Abstract: A static structure for a miniature gas turbine engine includes a forward housing, a forward cover, a diffuser housing, a diffuser, a turbine nozzle, a combustor liner, a combustor housing and an exhaust pipe with relatively uncomplicated assembly interfaces. The static structure defines airflow and lubrication passages which communicate lubricant and airflow to each shaft bearing such that an adequate measured quantity of lubricant is supplied to the bearings in response to engine speed. The airflow through the airflow passage carries the lubrication supplied to the forward bearing toward the aft bearing to further lubricate the aft hot section bearing.

  • Publication number: 20070057012
Abstract: A stapler movable between a rest position and a stapling position and having a front end and a rear end. The stapler includes a base, a staple magazine coupled to the base and configured to hold staples, and a driver blade operable to drive staples out of the staple magazine during stapling operations. The stapler further includes an elastic member coupled to the driver blade and operable to move the driver blade during stapling operations. The elastic member utilizes potential energy to move the driver blade during stapling operations. The driver blade is positioned above the staple magazine when the stapler is in the rest position and the magazine is extendable from the front end of the stapler to allow a user to load staples in the magazine. The stapler is configured such that only the potential energy of the elastic member can operate the driver blade during stapling operations.

  • Patent number: H2211
Abstract: Fluorinated ketones, for example, 1,1,1-trifluoroacetone, can be stabilized against storage degradation by combining with a content of hexafluoroisopropanol (HFIP). Containers containing the stabilized mixture show prolonged storage times compared to containers containing the fluorinated ketones alone. The stabilized mixture can be used as a starting material for reactions requiring fluorinated ketones, for example, 1,1,1-trifluoroacetone, as a starting material.
