    Abstract: A wireless device (40) determines that no resources configured for random access on a link support a minimum gap requirement of the wireless device (40), where the minimum gap requirement is a minimum gap required in time between an end of a transmission of a random access preamble (16) and a start of a transmission of a payload (18). Based on this determination, the wireless device either (i) transmits a random access preamble (16) using the resources configured for random access on the link, but waits to transmit a payload (18) until the wireless device (40) receives a random access response in response to the random access preamble (16); (ii) delays random access on the link until resources configured for random access on the link support the minimum gap requirement of the wireless device (40); or (iii) selects to perform random access on a different link.

    Abstract: A user equipment (UE) transmits over multiple antenna ports and receives a control message from a base station in a wireless communication network. The control message comprises a precoding matrix indication field configurable to a first, second, and third configuration. The first configuration identifies precoding matrices in both a first set of precoding matrices and a second set of precoding matrices. The second configuration identifies precoding matrices in the second set of precoding matrices but not in the first set of precoding matrices. The third configuration identifies precoding matrices in a third set of precoding matrices in addition to the first and second sets. The precoding matrices in the sets are precoding matrices for transmissions from the UE. Each set of precoding matrices corresponds to a respective coherence capability. For a maximum of four spatial layers, the first, second, and third configurations occupy 5, 4, and 6 information bits, respectively.

    Abstract: An extended power class for Uplink (UL) Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) communications is provided. In this regard, a User Equipment (UE) configured to UL MIMO can indicate support for a first power class corresponding to a first power level. The UE can transmit a single layer Physical UL Shared Channel (PUSCH) on one antenna port at a power that is at most a first power level corresponding to the first power class. The UE can also transmit an N-layer PUSCH on N antenna ports at a second power level greater than the first power level. With the extended power class, UEs are able to deliver higher power signals without increasing the maximum power of their Power Amplifiers (PAs). This greater power can lead to better user experience, less battery drain, and higher network capacity.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for low complexity multi-configuration Channel State Information (CSI) reporting are provided. In some embodiments, a method of operating a wireless device in a cellular communications network to provide CSI feedback from multiple CSI reporting configurations is provided. The method includes receiving a first and second CSI reporting configuration and then reporting updated CSI in a CSI report for only one of the first CSI reporting configuration and the second CSI reporting configuration. In this way, rich CSI feedback with many ports, different codebooks, mixed beamformed and non-precoded CSI-RS configurations, etc., can be supported while requiring less computational complexity in the wireless device.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for multi-beam Channel State Information (CSI) reporting are provided. In some embodiments, a method of operation of a second node connected to a first node in a wireless communication network for reporting multi-beam CSI includes reporting a rank indicator and a beam count indicator in a first transmission to the first node. The method also includes reporting a cophasing indicator in a second transmission to the first node. The cophasing indicator identifies a selected entry of a codebook of cophasing coefficients where the number of bits in the cophasing indicator is identified by at least one of the beam count indicator and the rank indicator. In this way, feedback for both a rank indicator and a beam count indicator may be possible which may allow robust feedback and variably sized cophasing and beam index indicators.

The first beam phase parameter takes on one of a first integer number of phase values and the second beam phase parameter takes on one of a second integer number of phase values. In some embodiments, a method of operation of a Transmission Point (TP) in a cellular communications network comprises transmitting, from the TP, a same one or more DRS signals using at least two different transmit beams in at least two different time resources. Each transmit beam is characterized by a direction in which it is transmitted. In this manner, the TP is enabled to reuse DRS resources, which in turn enables transmission of DRS signals on a larger number of transmit beams and, correspondingly, adaptation of measurement procedures at wireless devices to obtain measurements on those transmit beams.

    Abstract: Operation in unlicensed spectrum requires Clear Channel Assessment (CCA), where a transmitter must monitor the channel before transmitting, to ensure it is free. An exception is a brief gap that allows for Rx/Tx turn-around, so that an ACK can be transmitted following reception, without performing a new CCA. NR introduces a 2-step Random Access (RA) procedure, where MsgA includes both a PRACH and a PUSCH transmission. To minimize CCA delays in unlicensed spectrum, only those RACH opportunities (ROs) and PUSCH opportunities (POs) that result in a very small delay between the PRACH and PUSCH transmissions of MsgA should be employed. RO configurations are defined for LTE 4-step RA. Embodiments provides methods for selecting which of these be may be shared for 2-step RA, for selecting which should be used in case of collisions, for selecting ROs and POs when the configurations are not shared, and for communicating RO configurations to UEs.
