Patent number: 8495381Abstract: This invention provides a simple and secure PIN unblock mechanism for use with a security token. A set of one or more passphrases are stored on a remote server during personalization. Likewise, the answers to the passphrases are hashed and stored inside the security token for future comparison. A local client program provides the user input and display dialogs and ensures a secure communications channel is provided before passphrases are retrieved from the remote server. Retrieval of passphrases and an administrative unblock secret from the remote server are accomplished using a unique identifier associated with the security token, typically the token's serial number. A PIN unblock applet provides the administrative mechanism to unblock the security token upon receipt of an administrative unblock shared secret. The remote server releases the administrative unblock shared secret only after a non-forgeable confirmatory message is received from the security token that the user has been properly authenticated.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 2007Date of Patent: July 23, 2013Assignee: ActivcardInventor: Mark Herbert Priebatsch

Patent number: 6173292Abstract: A method, apparatus, and article of manufacture for providing transaction control for a computer-implemented database management system. The database management system manages one or more databases, wherein each of the databases contains one or more documents and each document contains one or more objects. The database management system also supports a file cache for those databases. A transaction control system provides transaction control for the databases, documents, and objects managed by the database management system, wherein the transaction control system monitors and controls the file cache to ensure that modified objects are stored on a data storage device in manner that reflects an accurate status for a log file maintained by the transaction control system.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 1998Date of Patent: January 9, 2001Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Ronald Jason Barber, David Mark Herbert, Chandrasekaran Mohan, Amit Somani, Steven John Watts, Markos Zaharioudakis

Patent number: 5987458Abstract: Input data is partitioned and organized by building a sequence of predefined data structures corresponding to respective data models, each having a different organization and including pointers for propagating input data or data from a preceding data structure therethrough. Each data structure also includes fields for data values which may be input by a user or computed from other data stored therein and pointers referencing instances in a previous data structure in the sequence of data structures. As applied to the production of schematic drawings of cables connecting portions of a large and complex system with a high uniformity of style, such as to ANSI standards, the data is organized by unit, connector and pin priority and in prioritized groups of nets or subnets and partitioned into sheets for rendering in a standardized format.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 1996Date of Patent: November 16, 1999Assignee: Lockheed Martin CorporationInventors: Kenneth George Anderson, Mark Herbert Olson, Allen Irvin Wright
