  • Patent number: 10016320
Abstract: A wearable article with an extensible fastening member having a fastener proximate its end is disclosed. The fastening member may be highly extensible, and may have construction features and shape characteristics that affect distribution of force components when the fastener is in use, and reduce the chances of buckling or flipping of the fastening member along its edges, and the chances that the edges of the fastener will be lifted away from a surface to which it is attached. The fastener and material forming an accompanying landing zone on the article may be selected to form a fastening combination having performance attributes that provide further resistance to unintended pop-off under wearing conditions.

  • Patent number: 10012764
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for determining an amount of hydrocarbon fluid present in a rock of a hydrocarbon-producing reservoir is provided. The rock comprises organic matter and porous and permeable inorganic matter. The method comprises the steps of receiving data relating to chemical and kinetic properties of the organic matter, rock lithology data, rock thickness and reservoir temperature and pressure data, inputting the received data into a computer-implemented model, and operating the model. The model operates to a) simulate hydrocarbon fluid generation in the rock based on the input data and thereby determine an amount of generated hydrocarbon fluid, b) generate predicted data, and c) determine a total amount of hydrocarbon fluid present in the rock based on the predicted data.

  • Publication number: 20180179648
Abstract: A mining method (10) by which graphitic ore is produced in a form that constitutes an appropriate feedstock for an electrolytic process (20) for the production of graphitic materials through exfoliation. The graphitic ore feedstock may be utilised directly as an electrode in the electrolytic process (20). Also disclosed is a graphitic feedstock for an electrolytic process for the production of graphitic material through exfoliation of that feedstock, wherein the feedstock is less than about 99% graphite (w/w) and of a sufficiently cohesive and conductive nature as to allow electrochemical exfoliation therethroughout without fracturing that might result in collapse of a significant portion of the feedstock or that may result in a loss of conductivity throughout a significant portion of the feedstock.

  • Patent number: 9991973
Abstract: A calibration architecture that enables accurate calibration of radio frequency (RF) integrated circuits (ICs) chips used in transceiver RF systems in a relatively simple testing environment. Embodiments of the invention include one or more on-chip switchable internal calibration paths that enable direct coupling of a portion of the on-chip circuit to an RF test system while isolating other circuitry on the chip. Some embodiments allow interconnection of switchable internal calibration paths between separate IC chips. Still other embodiments utilize internal switches and antenna mutual coupling to provide over-the-air calibration, alone or in combination with direct signal coupling via internal calibration paths. Periodic self-calibration of an RF IC can be performed after initial factory calibration, so that adjustments in desired performance parameters can be made while such an IC is embedded within a final system, and/or to take into account component degradation due to age or other factors.

  • Publication number: 20180144217
Abstract: Modular print engines and print engine components that are usable in desktop card printers for personalizing plastic cards such as financial cards including credit and debit cards, identification cards, driver's licenses, and other personalized plastic cards. The modular nature of the print engines and print engine components permit alteration in the specific functionality of the desktop card printers depending upon, for example, the personalization requirements of the plastic cards and intended applications of the desktop card printers. In addition, the modular print engine components can be completely tested prior to installation into the modular print engines to ensure that the modular print engine components are working correctly prior to installation. Furthermore, the modular print engine components add flexibility to the desktop card printers as upgraded functionality and features can be introduced by developing new modular components.

  • Publication number: 20180085816
Abstract: The profile shape of the vessel body and of handle portion is formed from a single sheet of metal to create a flat by cutting, stamping or blanking. An opening is created in the handle portion to reduce heat propagation. The shape of the pan body is formed by spinning with the flat handle portion. The handle is formed by creating three-dimensional contours in the handle portion of the blank. The neck portion has a flat section adjacent the pan body followed by sections of different curvature. One section of the neck portion has a deeply curved cross-section. That neck portion transitions to the hand grip portion which has a reduced curvature, particularly toward the unattached end of the handle. The neck portion may have a “W” cross sectional shape. The handle grip portion may have a “U” shaped cross-section for comfort.

  • Publication number: 20180085324
Abstract: Topical sanitizers including alcohol-based gels, alcohol-based foams, alcohol-free foams, liquid soaps, alcohol-based wipes, and alcohol-based sprays include avenanthramides, which is an active component of oats that is beneficial to the skin. The concentration of avenanthramides can be substantially less when considering the use profile of the person using the sanitizers. Many healthcare workers sanitize their hands dozens of times a day. An effective dose of avenanthramides can be delivered to the skin even when the concentration in avenanthramides is relatively low due to the repeated application of the sanitizers during the day. In addition, a lower concentration of avenanthramides may be used to maintain healthy skin compared to a higher concentration that may be used to repair damaged skin. Minimum concentrations of avenanthramides in one or more topical sanitizers can be determined according to the use profile and the target amount of avenanthramides to deliver via the topical sanitizers.
