  • Publication number: 20160101479
Abstract: A method of machining a work-piece formed of titanium-based material, using a machining apparatus, is described. The method includes the steps of providing an electrically-conductive electrode contained within a spindle assembly, in a pre-selected distance and position relative to the titanium-based work-piece; while electrically powering the electrode and the work-piece with a power supply. In the process, fluid electrolyte is circulated through at least two pathways in the machining apparatus—an internal conduit within the spindle assembly; and an external conduit. The charged electrode is moved relative to the work-piece in a plunging motion, to remove material from the work-piece at a relatively high rate, using a high-speed electro-erosion (HSEE) process.

  • Patent number: 9275291
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for machine classifiers that employ enhanced machine learning. The machine classification may be automated, based on the input of human classifiers, or a combination of both. The selection of human classifiers is determined by a classifier ranking or scoring process. In addition, data generated by the ranking or scoring process can be used to train the machine classifiers to more accurately classify data.

  • Patent number: 9265652
Abstract: A method for promoting contraception by placing a contraceptive device within a uterus without blocking fallopian tubes may involve advancing a distal end of a delivery device through a cervix, advancing the contraceptive device comprising an elongate shape memory member out of the distal end of the delivery device and into the uterus, and limiting inferior migration of the contraceptive device within the uterus. Inferior migration may be limited by allowing the contraceptive device to assume a shape, when subjected to pressure that tends to cause a downward migration of the device within the uterus, in which an expandable middle portion of the device is expanded to contact the inner wall of the uterus and thus limit the downward migration of the device.

  • Patent number: 9243425
Abstract: A safety barrier system is a visual barrier having a rigid and detachable top and bottom rail. The barrier is of light weight construction, its main components being made of aluminum and nylon. It consists of a top and bottom T-shaped aluminum rail, the rails being joined by nylon straps of various widths that are suspended between the rails, the widths and spacing of the straps depending on the particular configuration, of which there may be a number of variations. At each rail end, both top and bottom rails, there is a loop of nylon strap. The straps are used to fix the barrier to the T-top bollards or star pickets. The top rail ends can include secondary straps for binding the ends of the top rail to the ends of a bottom rail when a section of the safety barrier is rolled up for storage or transport.
