Abstract: An approach is provided where one or more biometric inputs are received at a biometric receiver accessible by a mobile pervasive computing device. The biometric inputs are from a current user of the mobile pervasive computing device. One or more sets of expected biometric data are retrieved with the sets of expected biometric data corresponding to one or more authorized users of the mobile pervasive computing device. The received biometric inputs are compared with the retrieved sets of expected biometric data. Themobile pervasive computing device is secured using one or more security actions if the comparison reveals a mismatch between the biometric inputs and the retrieved sets of expected biometric data.

Abstract: A technique for playing a media file by a data processing system. A degraded initial version of the media file is received from a sending data processing system. A supplemental version of the media file is received from the sending data processing system. The degraded version of the media file is merged with the supplemental version of the media file to form a combined media file, with the combined media file being played. In one embodiment, the degraded version of the media data has a reduced quality that is obtained by removing portions of the data and filling in the removed portions with dummy data. During a subsequent rebuilding of the media data by the receiving/recipient data processing system, a supplemental version of the media data is received and merged/combined with the degraded version to form a copy that corresponds to the original, high-quality version of the media data.

Abstract: Computer method, apparatus and system reduces size of attachments for an electronic communication. The method/system automatically selects a part (portion) of a working document to serve as the electronic communication attachment or upload. A monitoring unit monitors sender-user activity with respect to the working document and logs indications of the portions of the working document that are read by the user. During email composition, an attachment engine automatically selects the logged and indicated document portions to serve as an attachment reduced in size. During other electronic communication composition, such as to a blog, wiki or computer network forum, the attachment engine automatically selects the logged and indicated document portions to serve as the upload reduced in size.

Abstract: A technique for distributing media data in a secured fashion that mitigates unwanted or illegal copying/distribution of such data. An initial, degraded version of the media data is sent to one or more recipient(s). After confirming identity of a recipient at a receiving system, a supplemental version of the media data is sent to the receiving system which augments the degraded version such that it can then be played by the recipient(s). The degraded version of the media data has a reduced quality that is obtained by removing portions of the data and filling in the removed portions with dummy data. Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a method, system and computer program product for message composition management for fatigued composers of electronic messages. In an embodiment of the invention, a method for message composition management for fatigued composers of electronic messages includes detecting a request by a message composer to transmit a message to a designated recipient in a messaging client executing in memory of a computer. The method also includes computing a fatigue quotient for the message composer. Finally the method includes diverting the message to a drafts folder instead of transmitting the message if the fatigue quotient exceeds a threshold value.

Abstract: An apparatus for detachably-attaching a first half of an electrical connector to a second half includes an exterior first half housing as part of the first half that rotates about a split ring with respect to a remaining interior portion of the first half. The interior portion does not rotate. The first half housing rotates during connection as the interior portion is urged longitudinally. Electrical sockets and electrical contact pins are provided in the first half and the second half. The first half housing includes inward-protruding pins that engage with outward facing slots of the second half and follow the contour of the slots as the first half housing is rotated causing a longitudinal displacement of the first half with respect to the second half. The slots and housing structure prevent flame propagation by providing complete electrical disconnection before a final mechanical release of the bayonet connection occurs.

Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention provide a system to monitor a patient. In some aspects, a signal representing a value of a physiological parameter is received from a monitoring device. The received value is a value that caused the monitoring device to trigger an alarm associated with the psychological parameter. A notification is determined based on the received signal and on a second signal that represents a value of a second physiological parameter. The notification is then presented to an operator.

Abstract: To assign a plurality of processes to a plurality of processors in a multi-processor computer system, a plurality of processes are attached to a memory segment shared between a plurality of processors. A spin cycle is initiated in the plurality of processes, where initiating the spin cycle causes a processor-intensive operation to be performed by each of the processes, and wherein performing the processor-intensive operation by the processes induces rescheduling to be performed. As part of the rescheduling, one or more of the processes are reassigned among the processors during the spin cycle.

A gap hider includes a close out insert for closing the gap between the opening and the handle. The close out insert is supported on the top wall for limited floating movement so that it will not interfere with the operation of the parking brake handle.
