  • Patent number: 6981385
Abstract: A refrigeration system for objects is disclosed. The system includes a refrigeration device and a defrost system. The refrigeration device provides a case or container defining a space for the objects, a first heat exchanger associated with the container for cooling a fluid communicating with the space to cool the objects and a second heat exchanger to receive a heat supply from an air source for warming the fluid. A system for cooling articles is also disclosed. The system includes a space configured to contain the articles, a first element to provide cooling of the articles within the space, a first coolant source to refrigerate the space by cooling the first element in a first state, and a second coolant source to elevate a temperature of the first element in a second state.

  • Patent number: 6978121
Abstract: The present invention is a method and apparatus for operating a dual-mode radio (DMR) in a wireless communication system. The present invention provides “coexistence” or cooperation of Bluetooth™ and 802.11 devices operating in close proximity to each other within a DMR. The present inventive method and apparatus reduces reception errors and prevents saturation of the Bluetooth™ devices caused by 802.11 transmissions. The present inventive antenna switching method provides a means for coupling multiple antennas to Bluetooth™ and 802.11 transmit and receive devices. Saturation of the Bluetooth™ receive devices is prevented by electrically isolating the Bluetooth™ receive devices from antennas used by the 802.11 device during 802.11 transmissions. The antenna switching apparatus includes a plurality of switches capable of selectively coupling and decoupling first and second antennas to an 802.11 and a Bluetooth™ device.

  • Publication number: 20050235879
Abstract: A liquid composition additive for surface coatings such as paint or coal tar asphalt sealant is provided. The additive functions to significantly reduce the amount of time required for the surface coating to dry and thereby allows the coated surface to be quickly returned to service. Preferably, the additive is composed of a composition of fly ash hydrous ammonia, water, and a colorant. This formulation, when added to a liquid surface sealant or coating, will draw water out of the surface coating extremely fast thereby reducing the amount of time required for the surface coating to dry.

  • Publication number: 20050235880
Abstract: A liquid composition, active curing additive for water or solvent borne surface coatings and sealants such: latex products, paints, putties, caulks, sports track and court construction, asphalt or coal tar seal coating, asphalt paving, micro-seal, roof tars, asphalt emulsions, crack sealants, and the like is provided. The additive functions to significantly reduce the amount of time required for the surface coating to cure and thereby allows the coated or sealed surface to be quickly returned to service. Preferably, the additive is composed of a composition of fly ash, hydrous ammonia, water or solvent, and bentonite. This formulation, when added to a liquid surface sealant or coating, will create an active process within the film of the said sealant or coating which draws water out of the film extremely fast, thereby reducing the amount of time required for the surface coating or sealant to cure.

  • Publication number: 20050216898
Abstract: A system for analyzing similarities between a first and second corpus or between a set of concepts and a corpus uses natural language processing and machine intelligence methods to replace terms or phrases in the corpus with concepts, determine the frequency of each concept in the corpus, and convert the corpus into a concept frequency file to enable easy comparison of the two corpuses or easy retrieval of items from the corpus that contain concept. Difference analysis and a combination of content and spectral analysis may be employed.

  • Publication number: 20050045033
Abstract: A method and system for processing of natural gas in which a gaseous natural gas stream which is made up of a mixture of hydrocarbons is introduced into a vortex tube, forming a hot fluid stream and a cold fluid stream. The cold fluid stream is introduced into the upper section of a distillation column and the hot fluid stream is introduced into the lower section of the distillation column, resulting in improved separation of the heavier hydrocarbon components in the natural gas stream from the lighter hydrocarbon components disposed in the natural gas stream.

  • Patent number: 6046817
Abstract: An improved communications buffer system is provided which dynamically allocates the size and number of buffers to optimally receive and transmit packets of communications data over a communications link, while efficiently using the amount of available memory so as to provide optimal throughput capability with respect to the allocated amount of memory. The printer first determines how much "free" memory is available in its "pool area" and then how best to divide up that pool area into both transmit and receive buffers for a single port. Once the entire pool area has been allocated for these transmit and receive buffers, the communication session can begin between the host computer and the printer for communicating the actual print job data.

  • Patent number: 6005756
Abstract: A circuit for grounding a signal at a first frequency and at a second frequency. The circuit includes a first capacitor and an inductor in series and a second capacitor in parallel with the first capacitor and inductor. The first capacitor is series resonant at the first frequency and the second capacitor is series resonant at the second frequency. The inductance of the inductor is selected so the combination of the packaging inductance of the first capacitor and the inductor parallel resonants with the second capacitor at a frequency lower than the second frequency and higher than the first frequency, where the second frequency is greater than the first frequency. The grounding circuit may be used to provide a second input to a balanced RF mixer where the RF mixer receives a RF signal at the second frequency at a first input and generates an IF signal at the first frequency.
