  • Patent number: 9912807
Abstract: A method includes determining, at a communication device, a designation of a source communication device based on information related to a communication from the source communication device. The method further includes selecting, at the communication device and based on the designation, a prompt from multiple prompts. The prompt includes a first prompt in response to the designation being a first designation of multiple designations. The prompt includes a second prompt in response to the designation being a second designation of the multiple designations. • Patent number: 9879883
Abstract: Technical challenges of efficiently and cost-effectively deriving energy from the sun are addressed using a manifold and an array of evacuated tubes in fluid connection, in a butterfly or other planar arrangement. Tube and manifold fluid guides are plumbed for coaxial flow and/or parallel flow, and thermally protected by sleeves, stainless steel piping, and/or vacuum. Tubes are provided with a selective low emissivity coating and/or internal mirror to reduce thermal loss. The solar absorption surface of evacuated tubes may be five square meters or more, with only low-quality concentration optics, or no concentration optics used. The tubes array tracks the sun with a two-axis motion platform. Fluid operating temperatures range from 150 to 300 degrees centigrade, depending on the sunlight exposure, working fluid, and supplemental heat source if any. Fluid may circulate heat between the manifold and heat engine, cogeneration facility, and/or other module.

  • Publication number: 20170269586
Abstract: An interactive mobile robot system and a method for creating an invisible track for a mobile robot. The system and method allow the creation of invisible tracks by guiding objects. They also allow the use of such invisible tracks for the semi-autonomous or autonomous control of toys, including model cars and model trains, or of mobile robots to move them along a real-world path. The system includes a mobile robot, receiver circuitry to receive one or more position signals, and processing circuitry. The processing circuitry is configured to determine position information associated with the mobile robot based on the one or more position signals. The processing circuitry is further configured to create an invisible track based on the position information, to determine a current position of the mobile robot, and to generate control signals based on the current position of the mobile robot and the invisible track.

  • Patent number: 9449877
Abstract: A method of singulating a semiconductor wafer with laser energy while the semiconductor wafer is supported on a mounting tape during singulation comprises the step of depositing a coating material onto a portion of the mounting tape adjacent to a perimeter of the semiconductor wafer to form a protective layer over the mounting tape. The semiconductor wafer is then cut with a laser beam such that the laser beam at least partially impinges upon the protective layer during cutting of the semiconductor wafer. After singulation of the semiconductor wafer, the protective layer is removed from the mounting tape.

  • Patent number: 8867724
Abstract: Devices, methods and systems for enhanced ringing features on communications terminals. Flexible user-established rules, customized in a subscriber profile database, enable the ring-tone to vary based on caller-id, caller priority, call-urgency (as determined by caller), call context and so forth. Call set-up logic applies the profile rules prior to completing the call set-up. “Buzz-tones” extend the basic distinctive ringing feature to the “silent” mode that is currently available on cell-phones, which is of particular utility to subscribers with hearing disabilities. Other kinds of alerts (audio/motion/visual) like flashing colors on a display, moving pictures and the like, and any combination of notification modes, are contemplated by alternative embodiments.

  • Patent number: 8844425
Abstract: A recoil mechanism for an auto-loading firearm, having a gas-operated action bar assembly. One or more compression springs are used, mounted on associated retaining rods contained in a stationary orientation on the firearm. The springs are linked to the firearm's gas system at one end, and bear against stops affixed to ends of the spring retaining rods. The entire mechanism is contained within a forward grip mounted on the firearm, the grip optionally being provided with mounting rails.

  • Patent number: 8726559
Abstract: A barrel nut for a firearm. A cylindrical shell is provided with internal threads extending from one end of the shell and opposite slots extending axially from the opposite end of the shell. A cylindrical core has external threads on one end, with the external threads being shaped to engage the internal threads of the shell. When the core is installed in the shell, it is secured at a desired axial location by at least one fastener secured in a bore of the shell and engaging one of a series of circumferential indentations in the core.

  • Patent number: 8509406
Abstract: A method for integrating presence services into a telecommunications system that includes a presence server. The method includes receiving a query, by the presence server from service logic, the query including call parameters and call information, regarding a call from a session initiator to a session terminator. The method also includes comparing, by the presence server, the call parameters and the call information with a stored presence profile established for the session terminator, the stored presence profile including preferred treatment information. The method further includes collecting usage information of the session terminator, and automatically generating the preferred treatment information, when the preferred treatment information has not been established. The method then determines a treatment of the call, by the presence server, based upon the stored presence profile and the preferred treatment information.

  • Publication number: 20130139806
Abstract: A system of passively heating water using solar energy and an absorber formed from two identical halves of molded darkened glass that are fused together. The absorber is essentially a plurality of black glass struts that are sandwiched between two black glass surfaces. The struts act as baffle plates and define cells. Water is carried through the system via the thermosiphoning effect.

  • Patent number: 8150025
Abstract: A subscriber associates a ring-tone media selection based on a media genre, author, or title to a calling number. When an incoming call is detected, a particular ring-tone media selection, based on the subscriber's association, may be streamed from a central server to the subscriber's customer premises equipment and then played. Alternatively, when an incoming call is detected, a particular ring-tone selection indicator, based on the subscriber's association, may be sent from a central server to the subscriber's customer premises equipment which then plays a pre-stored ring-tone selection media associated with the indicator.
