  • Publication number: 20160137576
Abstract: A process for producing an acetic acid product having low butyl acetate content via a carbonylation reaction. The carbonylation reaction is carried out at a temperature from 100 to 300° C., a hydrogen partial pressure from 0.3 to 2 atm, and a rhodium catalyst concentration from 100 to 3000 wppm, based on the weight of the reaction medium. The butyl acetate concentration in the acetic acid product may be controlled by removing acetaldehyde from a stream derived from the reaction medium and/or by adjusting at least one of reaction temperature, hydrogen partial pressure, and metal catalyst concentration.

  • Patent number: 9340481
Abstract: A process for producing acetic acid is disclosed, in which the methyl iodide concentration is maintained in the vapor product stream formed in a flashing step. The process includes introducing a lithium compound into the reactor and maintaining a concentration of lithium acetate in the reaction medium is in an amount from 0.3 to 0.7 wt. %. The reaction medium is fed forward to the flashing step. The methyl iodide concentration in the vapor product stream ranges from 24 to less than 36 wt. %, based on the weight of the vapor product stream. The vapor product stream is distilled in a first column to obtain an acetic acid product stream comprising acetic acid and hydrogen iodide in an amount of less than or equal to 300 wppm and/or methyl iodide in an amount from 0.1 to 6 wt. %.

  • Patent number: 9341670
Abstract: A stub of a via formed in a printed circuit board is backdrilled to a predetermined depth. A capacitance probe is positioned within the via. Then the capacitance probe is used to obtain a test capacitance measurement. The test capacitance measurement is compared to a predetermined baseline capacitance measurement. Residual conductive plating material in the backdrilled stub causes the test capacitance measurement to exceed the predetermined baseline capacitance measurement. An indication is made that the predetermined baseline capacitance measurement has been exceeded.

  • Publication number: 20160134860
Abstract: 3D Modeling System and Apparatus for mobile devices with limited processing capability is disclosed. This invention uses the standard camera and computing resources available on consumer mobile devices such as smart phones. A light projector (e.g. laser line generator) is attached as an accessory to the mobile device or built as a part of the mobile device. Processing requirements are significantly reduced by including known object(s) or reference template(s) in the scene to be captured which are used to determine the pose/position of the camera relative to the object or scene to be modeled in a series of camera pose/position sequences. The position/pose of the camera and projector for each sequence is facilitated by image distortions of known dimensions of reference template or known object in a sequence of captured images.

  • Publication number: 20160117519
Abstract: A multi-level security system includes a storage medium partitionable into a plurality of partitions, a file system coupleable to the plurality of partitions, and a plurality of enclaves. Each enclave is assigned a security classification level. Each enclave resides in a different storage partition of the storage medium. Data stored on the storage medium is cryptographically separated at rest on a per-enclave basis. Cryptographic separation occurs at the disk block level, allowing individual blocks to be read and decrypted. The system also includes a reference monitor that enforces a system security policy that governs access to information between the enclaves. The reference monitor allows an enclave having a first classification level to securely read-down to an enclave having a second classification level lower than the first classification level and to write to another enclave having the first classification level.

  • Publication number: 20160083776
Abstract: A novel, highly sensitive, quantitative and rapid DPE-PCR assay is disclosed that can be used to enumerate prokaryotic cells when presenting a purified or selected cell type and that has the capability to reproducibly measure DNA polymerase extension activity from less than 10 cfu of bacteria via coupling to bead lysis. Also disclosed is the potential for the DPE-PCR assay of the invention to universally detect microbes by testing a panel of microorganisms comprised of gram-negative bacteria, gram-positive bacteria and Candida species. Furthermore, it is disclosed that the DPE-PCR assay of the invention can be used to assess bacterial cell viability, provided via the reproducibly strong correlation between DNA polymerase extension activity and proliferation as indicated by the presence of cfu. It is believed that the disclosed assay of the invention can be a useful quantitative tool for a wide range of testing applications within pharmaceutical, environmental, food and clinical settings.

  • Publication number: 20160059813
Abstract: A system and method for optimizing various vehicle safety systems, such as airbags and seat belt load tensioning limiters, for a particular occupant of a vehicle seat, such as the vehicle driver or passenger, based on the weight of the occupant and the fore-aft position of the seat. The method senses the mass of the occupant and the position of the seat and classifies the combination of the mass and position. The method then determines the optimized setting of the safety systems for that combination classification, and automatically sets the safety systems to that setting. The method can also determine the optimized setting of the safety systems based on whether the occupant is wearing a seat belt.
